Matthew was born in Englewood, N.J. to Vincent and Pasqualina Vecera. Matthew and his older sister, Patricia grew up between New Jersey and Peschici, a small fishing village on the Adriatic coast of Southern Italy. While in Fort Lee and Alpine, NJ, both suburbs of New York City, Pasqualina raised Matthew and Patricia to appreciate their culturally rich surroundings. She regularly brought her children to the theater, concerts and movies, insisted on music lessons, strong academics and community drama programs.
While in college at Fordham University, a location scout chose the Vecera home in Rio Vista, Alpine, NJ to shoot a scene for the feature film, "The Super" starring Joe Pesci and directed by Rod Daniel. Matthew was able to observe the production and had the opportunity to interact with Joe Pesci, Vincent Gardenia (in his final performance), Broadway legend, Carole Shelley and rising star, Stacey Travis. Shortly afterward, Matthew enrolled in acting classes.
Matthew Vecera studied acting and drama at Fordham University in New York. He participated in several productions, including "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" and "West Side Story" where the director enlisted Matthew to reprise his role in additional productions to help anchor the larger ensemble casts and train choreographed stage fighting.
Matthew was cast in his first feature film, BearCity 2: The Proposal (2012), Variations of Jade (2013), Rationale (2014), a 3-episode arc on the TV series, Offseason, and has since continued to develop his skills by appearing in a number of short films and television appearances.
