Spencer Grammer, Harland Williams, Will Friedle, Harry Lennix, Juliana Harkavy and John Dimaggio are among the performers comprising the ensemble voice cast of the animated sci-fi comedy movie Isla Monstro.
Hailing from multimedia company Abyssmal Entertainment, the feature has completed production and launches promotion at San Diego Comic-Con with a booth and a panel taking place Saturday. The project is directed and animated by Steven Shea (Surviving Supercon), who co-wrote the script with James Schrader, and it is currently seeking distribution.
Isla Monstro centers on ne’er-do-well Duke (voiced by Schrader), who falls off a cruise ship and awakens on an abandoned, top secret government island that is rampant with mutants and monsters left over from a failed “super soldier” mission from the 1980s. Duke concocts a scheme to convert the island into a high-class resort getaway with the creatures serving as staff, which does not please the U.S. government.

This year’s Oscars have set a new record for the largest number of entries ever in the Best Original Song category, but the 105 eligible songs do not include Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ “(If Only You Could) Save Me,” a 1930s-style big band song from “Mank” that was recently nominated for the second annual Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards.
The song is heard briefly coming from a radio in the background of one scene and plays for only about 40 seconds. Academy rules require “a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition of both lyric and melody,” and the song was judged to not fulfill that requirement.
Other songs that didn’t make the list, although they were thought to be in the running, include “Uh Oh” from “Promising Young Woman” and “Boss Bitch” from “Birds of Prey.” Even without those, the list of eligible songs tops 100 for the first time...

Season 16 of “The Voice” recently concluded with Maelyn Jarmon from Team John Legend winning the latest title in the long-running NBC competition series. (Watch our video interview with Maelyn.) Although the songbird from Team John was Gold Derby’s odds-on favorite to win, it was Blake Shelton who coached three of the four finalists including country singers Gyth Rigdon, Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener. That brings us to an impressive statistic for Shelton. Not only has he won more titles than any other coach, with six total, but he’s also had more runners-up and finalists as well.

Brynn Cartelli won season 14 of “The Voice” on Tuesday by edging out Britton Buchanan in one of the closest votes in the history of the reality competition series. Buchanan, who was coached by one-time winning coach Alicia Keys, had been strongly positioned heading into Tuesday’s finale based on his performances on Monday’s final.

On Wednesday (May 8) night's episode of "The Voice" the Top 12 finalists of Season 4 will be revealed. America's votes will save two of the four artists on each team, with coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira able to save another. Here at Zap2It, we've been thinking long and hard about which artists should advance tonight. What follows below are our thoughts, team by team.
Team Adam: Amber Carrington, Caroline Glaser, Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons
Levine's team is probably the easiest choice to make. Right off the bat, it's obvious to say that Hill and Simmons ought to be in the finals this season -- they're each that good. That leaves Carrington and Glaser. Amber's voice is stronger and more pure, but Caroline has a unique vocal quality that's often rewarded on the voice (a la Dia Frampton (Season 1) and Melanie Martinez (Season 3). It's Glaser's quirk factor...

The ‘American Idol’ winner surprised fans by tweeting that his wife and ‘the little one’ are both safe.
Kris Allen had a rough New Year’s Day, but it sounds like he’s got a lot to look forward to in 2013 — including fatherhood! Kris, 27, and wife Katy found themselves in the emergency room Jan. 1 after a head-on car crash left Kris with a broken wrist, prompting a revealing tweet from the season-eight American Idol winner: “Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy”
This was meant to clarify Kris’ earlier — and slightly more vague — tweet, in which he alluded to a tiny human passenger in his car.
“Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @ZorroPup and the little one we have on the way safe,” he tweeted.

The Voice is many things: an absorbing talent show, an extended high-end chair commercial, a crazy wig parade, NBC’s blessed ratings savior. That said, it hasn’t yet proven itself to be a reliable starmaker. Past Voice winners Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul have had limited success on the national stage, though Paul’s fortunes may change when his debut album drops later this week. Runners up like Dia Frampton and Chris Mann have had slightly more luck, but they’re still nowhere near the level of, say, Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood (let alone Jordin Sparks).

"America, it's time for you to vote." - Adam Levine ... he might've actually been talking about the election though.
Well, here we are. The first week of live shows dubbed "The Playoffs" certainly separated the experts from the novices. All in all, I agreed with the America's votes this week, but I must admit that I'll miss De'borah, Mackenzie Bourg and Julio Castillo. There were certain contestants who came out swinging and others who looked (and sounded like) they had no idea what was going on. But no focusing on the contestants that underwhelmed me, instead I'll highlight my personal favorite from each of the coaches' teams.
Team Christina
Sylvia Yacoub - The One That Got Away
I guess I'm a little late to the party when it comes to Sylvia. It's not that her voice hasn't blown me away in the past, it's just this is the moment I was waiting for. Sitting behind...

You’d have to be living under the sewer grate where Adam Levine buys his heavily distressed t-shirts to not be aware that Tuesday is the time to “Vote, baby, vote.” And what better way to warm up your civic trigger finger than by casting a ballot (or 10) for your favorite members of Team Adam and Team Blake after Part 1 of The Voice‘s “Live Playoff” round?
The difficulty, of course, is figuring out which issues matter the most. Do you vote along party lines (in other words, root for the contestants who’ve been not-so-subtly labeled as “fan favorites...

When Jermaine was announced the winner on May 8 the executives were doing their best to hide the fact that they were totally upset that he came out as the winner -- read on to find out why! Jermaine Paul might want to stop reading right now! The season two finale of The Voice was reportedly a big let down for executives of the show because they wanted Tony Lucca or Juliet Simms to win instead. "Jermaine is a lot like last year’s winner Javier Colon," a source says. "They have a lot in common." This is what's making people over at The Voice so worried! "Javier didn’t wow anyone with his post-Voice success," the source adds. "Dia Frampton did better than him and sold more records, it was disappointing for Javier. And people want a success story for the Voice winner. The execs will support him publicly,” the source says.

Season 2 of The Voice may have been a little coaches-centric for my taste, but Tuesday’s two-hour telecast was — and I say this with no sarcasm whatsoever — structured more perfectly than any reality-competition finale I’ve ever seen. Oh, sure, there were a few awkward moments where the Top 4 were painfully grafted onto performances by big-name artists with products or tours to promote — Juliet with Flo Rida? Tony, Jermaine, and Chris relegated to undetectable backup for Hall & Oates? — but their “victory lap” ditties allowed them to bring back fallen comrades in a celebration of the weeks and months of music...

In comparison to Monday's semifinals, there was very little Christina Aguilera on tonight's The Voice Results. That made me happy, but it probably disappointed the loyal Xtina lovers, which includes many of you TV Fanatics.
With some help from the coaches, America whittled the remaining crop of hopeful artists from eight to four, preparing us for what should be an exciting finale next week. Who made it through? Who was sent home? And which former finalist returned with the best performance of the night?
That's right. Before we got to all of the results, there were a few performances by some friendly faces. Last season's final four, Dia Frampton, Vicki Martinez, Beverly McClellan, and Javier Colon were in the house to belt out some tunes.

After combining America's votes with the coaches' points, the final four contestants were finally revealed! The May 1 episode of The Voice began with an odd-couple performance by one of last season's finalists, Dia Frampton, and rapper Kid Cudi. One of my favorites last season, Dia sounded great. There were other solid performances throughout the night, but Dia's was definitely my favorite. Next up came the eliminations. Christina Aguilera split her points evenly between both contestants, but America decided to save Chris Mann, who had a total of 104 points. His strong voice was clearly more appealing to America than Lindsey Pavao's distinct style. Adam Levine gave Tony Lucca 60 points, leaving Katrina Parker with 40. In the end, America agreed with Adam and saved Tony, who had 108 points. So far so good in terms of my picks. Blake Shelton split his points evenly between Jermaine Paul and Erin Martin, clearly unable to choose between the two.

On Tuesday's elimination episode of "The Voice," the finalists were revealed for the teams. Coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green, and Blake Shelton each had 100 points to divide between their two finalists. Those points would be added to the percentage of America's vote each finalist received, meaning that the vote and the coach had about equal influence on the finalists.
Amidst the sad exits, though, we were privy to performances from last year's finalists. Blake's contestant, Dia Frampton, was joined by Kid Cudi to perform her new single, "Don't Kick The Chair." Vicci Martinez sang with her coach, Cee-Lo, for her song "Come Along." The legendary Cyndi Lauper sang "Money Changes Everything" with Beverly McClellan, Christina Aguilera's contestant from Season 1. Finally, Javier Colon sang his cover of "A Drop in the Ocean" by Ron Pope.
So who was eliminated?
Team Christina: Lindsey Pavao is eliminated, Chris Mann is the finalist.

Cee Lo Green never uses 10 words when he can use 1,300, but on tonight’s semifinal results telecast of The Voice, there was a very direct message in the middle of his intergalactic free-verse poetry. The cat-strokin’ dude was correct: It’s been well documented that his team contained ”two of arguably the best contestants on this show” — and it totally blew that one of ‘em had to go home under the “one finalist per coach” rule that continues to be the absolute worst aspect of NBC’s fledgling singing competition. The Voice 2012 eliminated Lindsey,Katrina,Erin,& Jamar tonight in the semifinals. Tonight's elimination show, kicked off with a review of last night's performances. Then last year's runner-up Dia Frampton, hit the stage to sing her song titled, "Don't Kick The Chair." Next, Christina gave her final two team members,Lindsey Pavao and Chris Mann, 50 points. Then America's vote, totaled it out to be 104-96 in Chris' favor,so he moved on to the finals, and Lindsey moved back home. After that, last year's top 4 contestant Vicci Martinez, hit the stage to sing her song " Come Along," and Cee Lo eventually accompanied her. Next,Adam gave his team members Tony Lucca and Katrina Parker their scores. Tony got 60 points and Katrina got 40 points. Our finalists for The Voice Season 2 have been determined and the results were naturally the opposite of what was laid out in hopes in Monday night’s review. To compensate, finalists from season one returned to the stage to update us on their music careers and perform. There were some very exciting special guests performers joining half of them on stage, so as sad as the night was, saying goodbye to four incredible vocalists, the performances definitely softened the blow.
As a reminder of how the voting works for the semi-finals into the finals, the coaches have 100 points to distribute among their final two competitors. America’s votes are also divided up and the points added to the coaches’ votes. Whoever has the most votes advances to the finals. Up first for results was Coach Christina. Aguilera gave her artists, Chris Mann and Lindsey Pavao a 50/50 vote, to let America be the deciding factor.

Last night on The Voice, spectacles were all the rage. From the celebrity coaches' attire to the productions behind individual and team performances, the show was, to say the least, a sight to see. Are we getting away from the big picture here, though, by painting a ... different picture? Someone will be crowned "The Voice" next week! Can we just cut the fluff and get to the goods, people?
Of course not! If we cut out the extraneous "we have to fill an entire hour or two-hour time slot" then we would most definitely miss out on tonight's performance. Look for performances by season one finalists Javier Colon, Dia Frampton, joined by hip-hop star Kid Cudi, Beverly McClellan, joined by living legend Cyndi Lauper, and Vicci Martinez, joined by former coach Cee Lo Green.

Next week, "The Voice" semifinals begin, and they're starting off with a bang. On Monday's performance show, not only will the contestants sing their own songs, but they'll join their coaches for performances, too. Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and their teams will unite to sing "Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga, and Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green will lead their teams for a performance of "All These Things I've Done" by The Killers.
If that isn't enough awesome music for you, you'll also be able to check out Blake Shelton's first-ever television performance of his new single, "Over," from "Red River Blue."

The most frustrating portion of The Voice has finally (¡finally!) come to an end — and to celebrate, I’ve composed a little ditty to the tune of Florence + The Machine’s “Dog Days Are Over”:
The Battle Rounds are over!
The Battle Rounds are done!
The Live Shows are coming!
Let’s vote, everyone!
Vote fast for Team Adam, vote fast for X-tina
Vote for Blake Shelton, ’cause you know he’s not a wiener
Cee-Lo’s white cat, it is purring beside you
Dude wears daytime pajamas and yes, sometimes he cries, too

NBC Dia Frampton
Before she got her hands on the Olympus Ls-20M and Ls-7 recorders, singer and “The Voice ” Season 1 runner-up Dia Frampton called her answering machine at all hours to record things like a lyric in her head, a chord progression she liked, or a melody she had just dreamed up. But when she played back the message, she often lost some the details.
Now that she has deal with Olympus, Frampton says she is never without a recorder.

Carnage! The Voice jammed six battles (disguised as duets) into two hours of damn entertaining TV last night, and they even gayed it up with some Bonnie Tyler, Celine Dion, and a double-fisted helping of Alanis Morissette. But who thrived and who cried? The answer will force one hand into your pocket and the other one into an electrical fire.
Team Adam: Tony Lucca vs. Chris Cauley, U2's "Beautiful Day"
The Voice isn't that smart. It kicked off an episode with two forgettable vocalists (paricularly when pitted against each other -- these dudes amounted to "Cheng vs. Eng" in the same ring) belting the single lamest U2 single I can think of -- with the possible exception of "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" or "Mofo."
"Beautiful Day" is so the "Desert Rose" of the U2 catalog. It sounds like a Saturn commercial, not a legitimate offering.

For years, Dia Frampton reigned as a bit of a indie music sweetheart fronting the band Meg & Dia along with her older sister whose name I sure you can guess by their name. They had their ups and downs as a band. Whether it was playing a show in front of 17 people, or being signed to Warner Bros. Records, it was an interesting ride for the band. The journey would hit new heights when Dia appeared on the highly popular NBC television show The Voice, where she would end up as last season's runner-up as country music star Blake Shelton's protégé and the person who did an amazing cover of Kanye West's "Heartless."
Currently, Dia Frampton is on Shelton's Well Lit & Amplified Tour playing in front of the most people she has ever played for. With these massive audiences Frampton is playing in front of, it's been...
