Nahyr is a Mexican-born and American-raised multi-hyphenate filmmaker and artist. Born in Queretaro, Mexico and raised in Sunny San Diego, Nahyr's bi-cultural identity has given her a unique perspective in storytelling.
Nahyr began her career in the arts as a dancer and choreographer. Simultaneously, Nahyr began working on her craft as an actress in theatre, working in regional and bilingual Latin-American theater works in the San Joaquin Valley. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Nahyr continued training as a dancer and actress and eventually founded and served as Artistic Director and Choreographer in her non-profit dance company, JuxtaPosition Dance Theatre.
Nahyr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts & Dance from CSU, Los Angeles, and a Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting and Directing from Mount Saint Mary's University, Los Angeles.
Nahyr is passionate about using all art forms, including her background in dance and choreography, in collaboration to raise Latinx voices and stories. Nahyr ardently believes that art is the vehicle by which we convey truth, and strives to write and create from a place of truth.
