Despite the franchise being called "complete" with the release of a boxed set, discussions for a fourth Psych film are still ongoing. Star Jazmyn Simon expressed that as long as fans want more movies, they will continue making them, hinting at the possibility of Psych 4. Scheduling issues and the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike have delayed the production of Psych 4, making it uncertain when the film will be realized.
Psych 4 receives a hopeful update despite an upcoming home release that calls the franchise "complete." Beginning on USA in 2006, the series follows the crime consultant Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez), who convinces others that he solves cases using psychic powers alongside his reluctant partner, Gus (Dulé Hill). Since the original series ended in 2014, Psych has received three feature films – Psych: The Movie, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, and Psych 3: This Is Gus. Played Rome Flynn, Raising Dion's Tevon Wakefield was a memorable part of the Netflix series as he changed the lives of several main characters. Adapted from the short film and comic book written by Dennis Liu, the show follows Nicole Warren (Alisha Wainwright) as she takes care of her son, Dion (Ja'Siah Young), and grieves the loss of her husband, Mark (Michael B. Jordan). However, Dion is no ordinary child: he has several powers, including the ability to change ions, allowing him to heal animals and people, become invisible, and create fire. While each episode of Raising Dion is moving and shares a story about the bonds of family, Netflix canceled the series after season 2.
The unforgettable characters of Raising Dion reflect the show's classic themes of good versus evil, with Pat Rollins (Jason Ritter) able to turn into the Crooked Man, the main villain who wants to kill Dion.

A potential Psych 4 movie is closer to happening than previously thought. Based on the popular comedy-drama series, the Psych film franchise has provided an avenue for the show to live on after its run. Psych: The Movie, centering around the mystery adventures of main duo Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) and Burton “Gus” Guster (Dulé Hill), was released via the show’s original USA Network in 2017. Following the first film, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home and Psych 3: This Is Gus premiered on Peacock in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
According to TVLine, Psych 4 has been in the works and may happen in the near future. When asked for a status report, Rodriguez reveals that everyone involved in the film franchise is eager to get another Psych sequel going while figuring out scheduling. Finally, he confirms that the film is all the more likely to start rolling soon because there is already a script.

TV networks have long known the value of exclusive contracts for their stars. Networks that invest millions in developing and promoting a show don’t want to see the lead actor show up in another series on a rival network.
But in the streaming era, those exclusivity deals have become a major concern for actors. TV seasons have far fewer episodes than they did a decade ago, and there are often longer breaks between seasons. So actors often find themselves forced out of work for extended periods while they wait to hear whether their show has been picked up for another season.
The state of California is considering a bill that would up-end that arrangement. The bill, Ab 437, would bar exclusivity agreements for actors. If it passed, the stars of “Stranger Things” could show up on “Euphoria,” so long as the production schedules don’t overlap.

Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”
Searchlight Pictures’ “Fire Island” doesn’t come out until June, but Matt Rogers, who plays Luke in the queer rom-com, has high hopes that it launches a big gay franchise.
Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang star as friends who head to the iconic LGBTQ vacation locale ready to have the best summer of their lives. “‘Provincetown’ should be the sequel,” Rogers told me at the premiere of his Showtime show “I Love That for You.” “Let’s do ‘Palm Springs.’ Let’s do ‘Puerto Vallarta.’ This is going to be the ‘Fast & Furious for queers!”
Then Rogers, who co-hosts the “Las Culturistas” podcast with Yang, cracks, “I’m the Michelle Rodriguez of the bunch, baby.” As I was the first to report, “Fire Island” will world premiere on June 2 at NewFest Pride in NYC. It begins streaming on Hulu the following day.

Psych 3: This Is Gus “is Psych growing up a little bit,” Maggie Lawson (Juliet) says. However, his best friend Shawn (James Roday Rodriguez) has some questions about the bride-to-be (Jazmyn Simon’s Selene) and drags Gus along for the ride to track down her estranged husband, Alan (Allen Maldonado). Meanwhile, Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) continues to recover from his stroke (mirroring the actor’s own recovery) and tries to figure out what’s next for him career-wise. TV Insider spoke with the cast and executive producers about the latest hijinks. Shawn & Gus’ Relationship Is Changing “Shawn’s not always the best with change,” Rodriguez admits. “The dream has always been we’re never going to live more than two seconds away from...

The Psych universe has been around since 2006.
While the series is over, the franchise remains alive thanks to movie spinoffs, and, of course, the fans.

"The Psych-os are the best," said Dulé Hill of the devoted fanbase.
"They've been on this journey with us since 2006. We're now in 2021. And the love just keeps building and growing," the actor added before saying he enjoyed working with everyone associated with the project.
He said they always look forward to coming back.
"It's a wacky bunch, and the story always seems to keep unraveling in ways that we don't expect," Hill added.

Art imitating life, in the case of Psych crime solver Carlton Lassiter, has profoundly moved series vet Timothy Omundson.
Omundson suffered a major stroke in April 2017, just as production on the original Psych: The Movie was getting underway; as such, Lassiter only appears via a brief FaceTime call with Juliet. In 2020, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, as its title suggested, brought Omundson back to a greater degree, pinning the central mystery on the shooting of Lassiter, who then also suffered a stroke from which he started to recover throughout the TV-movie.

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a time when accomplishing even the simplest tasks had taken on the burden of the impossible, Netflix’s “secret pandemic movie,” Malcolm & Marie, became a way to process a year of stalled projects and compromised creative control. A Deadline feature retraced how Zendaya, one half of the two-hander’s cast, reached out to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson with the plea for a self-contained project when Covid delayed the HBO drama’s new season.

Not all films complete stopped shooting last year when the Coronavirus pandemic hit. In fact, one particular flick managed to actually get produced during this pause in Hollywood. The movie in question? Locked Down (formerly known as Lockdown). Shot back in October under obviously strict Covid protocols, Doug Liman and his cast did what may have otherwise seemed impossible. Now, the wisdom in making a film about a mandatory lockdown during, you know, a mandatory lockdown, remains to be seen. At the same time, Liman assembled a hell of a cast, led by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Anne Hathaway. So, the ingredients are there. Hitting HBO Max in ten days, we’ll be able to see it soon. In the meantime, a Trailer has dropped, which you can scope out below… The movie is a mix of the heist genre and romantic comedy. The official plot synopsis is as follows: “Just as they decide to separate,...

HBO Max has unveiled the first trailer for Doug Liman’s quarantine-shot movie “Locked Down,” starring Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The trailer introduces Linda (Hathaway) and Paxton (Ejiofor), a London-based couple planning to break up just before the coronavirus lockdown. Forced to quarantine for two weeks, they have no choice but to navigate their relationship, as they search for a light at the end of the tunnel.
While figuring out their living situation, the couple also faces challenges in their professional lives. “I’ve been furloughed. Now there’s literally zero purpose to my life,” Ejiofor says in the trailer.
Hathaway, on the other hand, hosts a video call during which she lays off her employees. “The nice people that I fired? They were fired because of me,” she says to Ejiofor.
The film also features Stephen Merchant, Mindy Kaling, Lucy Boynton, Dulé Hill, Jazmyn Simon, Ben Stiller and Ben Kingsley,...

Like “Songbird” before it, “Locked Down” with Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor is another movie shot during the Covid-19 pandemic that tries to capture the moment of living in quarantine on film. So how did this couple decide to spend their time while stuck at home? By stealing a priceless diamond.
The first trailer for “Locked Down,” a heist movie and romance starring Hathaway and Ejiofor and directed by “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” director Doug Liman, shows a more human level drama about people coping with the harsh economic and emotional realities of being in a pandemic. Ejiofor has just been furloughed and Hathaway plays a contractor whose job it is to fire people at other companies.
