A new stage musical adaptation of Beaches will launch what producers are calling a pre-Broadway national tour in the fall of 2026.
Based on the 1985 novel by Iris Rainer Dart that was adapted into the hit 1988 movie starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey, the Beaches musical features music by Mike Stoller (of Leiber and Stoller fame), lyrics by Dart, and book by Dart & Thom Thomas. The musical had its international premiere at Theatre Calgary last year, with a cast that included Jessica Vosk as Cee Cee (the Midler role) and Kelli Barrett as Bertie (called Hillary in the movie and played by Hershey).
Casting and complete production team for the tour will be announced at a later date.
Producer Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso said, “It is a great honor to bring Beaches the Musical to theatres around the country on our pre-Broadway tour. We can’t wait to share this love story about friendship with US presenters,...

There’s a special place in hell — literally — for second chances, and it’s the Hazbin Hotel. That’s also the name of Prime Video’s wildly inventive new animated series featuring Broadway stars from the likes of Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years) and Lilli Cooper (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) to Jessica Vosk (Elphaba in Wicked) and Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent).
Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie (Erika Henningsen of Broadway’s Mean Girls) as the princess of Hell. She's on her ill-fated quest to rehabilitate demons, so she can reduce overpopulation. Papa Lucifer (Jordan) may not be totally jazzed about the noble effort, but Charlie prays that her new hotel helps those checking in so that they can check out and head up to Heaven. Girlfriend Vaggie (Stephanie Beatriz) is forever at her side.

Angelina Jolie brought 21-year-old son Maddox Jolie-Pitt as her date to the White House state dinner in Washington DC on April 26. The pair arrived arm in arm to the soirée, which President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. Jolie looked ethereal in a breezy white gown, matching blazer, and gold accessories, while Maddox looked sharp in a black suit and tie. The outing was a rare public appearance for Jolie and her eldest child, who studied at Yonsei University in Seoul and worked on the crew for Jolie's upcoming movie "Without Blood."
Several other notable stars were in attendance at the state dinner, including Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim and "Fixer Upper" duo Chip and Joanna Gaines. During the event, President Yoon surprised guests by singing one of his favorite songs, "American Pie," before Biden presented him with a guitar signed by Don McLean.
