Aubrey Plaza starred in The White Lotus Season 2, but the star has not seen herself in the series almost two years after it aired on HBO.
Due to technical difficulties, the Parks and Recreation alum says she hasn’t seen the Mike White-created series.
“I still haven’t, but I’m going to,” Plaza said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”
Plaza said that she has requested DVDs of the series to watch it, adding, “I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”

With apologies to the Kentucky Derby, the 2024 awards season should be dubbed “The Run for the Roses.” From Jennifer Lopez at the Golden Globes to Margot Robbie and Emily Blunt at Critics Choice to Meghann Fahy at the 2023 Emmy Awards, have floral details ever dominated a succession of red carpets so strongly?
Perhaps it’s the result of three awards shows within an eight-day period, but red carpet trends have quickly become fashion’s hottest talking points. Not only floral details, but also the omnipresence of red, white and black as color preferences, the determination among several men to abandon any thought of a tie, and the addition of a brooch to a tuxedo lapel across men of every style and demographic.
Also seen on the star-studded red carpet at the Emmys: a proliferation of va-va-voom mermaid gowns, with Sheryl Lee Ralph in Christian Siriano, Hannah Waddingham in custom Marchesa,...

The White Lotus Season 3 Renewal Status
HBO picked up The White Lotus Season 3 in November as the sophomore run was airing.
"Reflecting on The White Lotus' humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it's impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows, said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films said of the pickup.
"And yet, he's only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike's raw, unparalleled vision.

Meanwhile, the Di Grassos head out in search of distant Sicilian relatives, but Dominic (Michael Imperioli) bristles when Albie (Adam Dimarco) invites Lucia (Simona Tabasco) along as their translator. “Abductions” was written and directed by series creator-showrunner Mike White.

HBO dominating the Emmy nominations is hardly a surprise, given both historical trends and the year they’ve had. But it couldn’t have come at a more crucial time.
Amid endless media speculation around the cuts and bad P.R. missteps of Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav, HBO — notionally the jewel in the crown of the newly-formed Wbd’s television empire — cleaned up. In the best drama race, HBO picked up a startling four nominations. In a happy coincidence, those four nominations, which tie an all-time record, represented the two halves of what HBO has lately done well, between pushing IP-driven storytelling to new heights in the cases of “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us” and turning carefully wrought, creator-driven drama into organic zeitgeist hits with “Succession” and “The White Lotus.”

Editor’s note: The following interviews were done outside of the FYC event series, as there was no panel or screening.
When it comes to assembling the quintessential ensemble cast for a series, it’s an art, not a science; an organic melding of faces and emotional forces. No more was this important than in the high stakes second season of HBO’s drama series White Lotus in which we’re pulled into the posh, sexy allure of those upper-class denizens on vacation only to relish in their deceitful sides and hijinks, warts and all. The series not only propelled fresh faces to the forefront such as Natasha Rothwell in season one, whose Hawaiian White Lotus resort spa manager is returning for the Eastern religion and spirituality set season 3, but it’s also shown a fresh, dynamic range of actors we’ve seen previously, i.e. Jennifer Coolidge and Alexandra Daddario among several others.

Jennifer Coolidge’s open disdain for boating did nothing to dissuade The White Lotus creator Mike White from subjecting the actress to three days of queasy and often claustrophobic filming on a yacht anchored off the Sicilian coast. Her discomfort was his inspiration.
“She had such a bad time filming on the boat in the first season that I just imagined telling her, ‘Yeah, now your character is going to die on a boat,’ ” says White. “Maybe I’m sadistic or something, but I knew Jennifer’s reaction was going to make me laugh so hard.”
Typically, any mention of a hit drama eighty-sixing its star would be prefaced by a boldface “spoiler alert,” but even the most fleeting frames of the HBO series’ second season — say, for example, the chaotic wardrobe choices for Haley Lu Richardson’s Portia — became unavoidable pop culture events. However, Richardson’s most thrilling night out was hundreds of miles outside of Hollywood, before the world was introduced to Portia. While filming “The White Lotus” in the desolate Italian city of Taormina, Richardson planned an excursion to...

F. Murray Abraham’s exit from Mythic Quest is the subject of a recent media report surrounding alleged sexual misconduct allegations made about him during his time on the Apple TV+ series.
According to Rolling Stone, the actor’s departure ahead of the comedy’s third season followed at least two complaints about Abraham’s alleged behavior. Citing an unnamed production source, the outlet reported that the first alleged incident led to Abraham receiving a warning and being told to keep his distance from some of the actresses on the show. Series co-creator and star Rob McElhenney was reportedly later informed of a second alleged incident, at which point Abraham was let go, per the publication.
In a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, series producer Lionsgate Television said, “We take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate them thoroughly. As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.

F. Murray Abraham, a Best Actor Oscar winner for “Amadeus” (1984), is now looking to claim his first Emmy Award thanks to HBO’s “The White Lotus.” The actor recently jumped up to third place in Gold Derby’s Best Drama Supporting Actor Emmy odds for playing Bert Di Grasso, an aging man who’s visiting his ancestors’ homeland of Sicily with his son Dominic (Michael Imperioli) and grandson Albie (Adam Dimarco).
Abraham already has three Emmy nominations to his name for “Homeland” (guest actor in 2015 and 2018) and “Moon Knight” (voice-over performance in 2022), but he’s hoping the TV academy’s love for “The White Lotus” will finally push him over the edge. The only two supporting actors ahead of him on Gold Derby’s predictions chart are Matthew Macfadyen and Kieran Culkin, both from “Succession.” Macfadyen is the category’s reigning champion, while Culkin is looking for his third nom.

“The White Lotus: Sicily” is making the jump from limited series to drama series at the 2023 Emmys, due to a quirky TV Academy rule about recurring characters (Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries triggered the switch as they appeared in both cycles). So what does all of this mean for the red-hot HBO show?
Keep in mind that last year, “The White Lotus” received 20 nominations and won a whopping 10 of them, including three for showrunner Mike White, plus acting prizes for Coolidge and Murray Bartlett. With the genre category shift to drama, “Sicily” now follows the same trajectories as programs like “Big Little Lies,” “Downton Abbey” and “The Sinner,” all of which competed in limited series for their first season, and in the case of the former two, dominating their major respective categories with multiple wins.

James and Fahy also revealed that they didn’t have to do a chemistry read together before they were cast. “We didn’t do any table reads either, which I loved,” Fahy said.
“We didn’t need to,” James said.

The Television Academy has reversed course about HBO’s “The White Lotus” competing as a limited series at this year’s Emmy Awards and will instead compete in the Drama Series categories.
Back in March 2022, the TV Academy reported that the series would be up against competitors in the limited series category when the awards show returned on Sept 18, 2023. The Academy has since walked back that decision, having determined that the series’ second season will be moved to categories for dramas. The Season 2 finale dropped on HBO Max in December 2022.
“The Television Academy has determined The White Lotus, Season 2, is eligible in the Outstanding Comedy or Drama Series category,” a Television Academy spokesperson told TheWrap Friday.

Meghann Fahy and Leo Woodall's characters don't have much to do with each other on "The White Lotus." Woodall's character, Jack, is pretty busy abducting Haley Lu Richardson's Portia, while Fahy's character, Daphne, is happily justifying her husband Cameron's infidelity with her own. But in the wake of the finale, dating rumors began to swirl about the pair when Fahy shared a selfie of the two together in a December 2022 behind-the-scenes photo dump along with several solo photos of Woodall - prompting Woodall to comment bomb and shell emoji.

Mike White’s The White Lotus is a strange show, but a very good kind of strange. What started out as a relatively low-key story about people traveling to Italy to either get away from their demons or cope with their flaws has slowly twisted into something bizarre and unexpected. Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), a ditzy yet incredibly wealthy wife comes to Sicily to live out her fantasy of having the perfect Italian vacation only to realize that she is being set up into a possible plot involving her death set up by her husband Greg (John Gries) and Quentin (Tom Hollander).
Albie (Adam Dimarco) and Portia (Haley Lu Richardson), are two hopeless young romantics thinking that they found the love of their lives, but later finding out that their possible soulmates turned out to be nothing either than cunning manipulators or complete sociopaths.
Even the characters that have much lower...

[This story contains major spoilers to the season two finale of HBO’s The White Lotus.]
The ending to The White Lotus may wrapped up an ensemble-worth of loose ends. But it also left several questions unanswered, with viewers wondering just how everything went down over the course of the second season’s seven episodes.
Whether fans still have questions about the sex lives of the fantastic four — Cameron (Theo James), Daphne (Meghann Fahy), Ethan (Will Sharpe) and Harper (Aubrey Plaza) — or just how exactly Quentin (Tom Hollander) and his “high-end gays” were in cahoots with Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) husband Greg (Jon Gries), Mike White left a lot of plot points up for interpretation.
The finale revealed that the body Fahy’s Daphne found in the first episode of the Sicily-set season belonged to Tanya, who died when she tried to flee Quentin’s boat after discovering he and his friends weren’t as nice as they seemed.

Following the shocking news that Henry Cavill will no longer be returning as Superman, heartbroken fans have begun to speculate who could possibly replace him as the Man of Steel.
On Instagram Wednesday (14 December), Cavill said the news came “after being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life”.
“The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James [Gunn] and Peter [Safran] have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”
Director James Gunn, the newly appointed co-chair and co-ceo of DC Studios, shared that the forthcoming Superman iteration will instead focus on the superhero’s younger years.
So, while many fans have expressed disappointment on Twitter, saying that they can’t “imagine” a better Superman than Cavill,...

The White Lotus was originally supposed to be a one-off miniseries back in the summer of 2021, but millions of fans flocked to the show’s enticing mixture of black comedy and satire of the elite. Now that season 2 has closed with “Arrivederci”, people are hotly anticipating the already-confirmed third season of the HBO hit. With quite a while until the release of new episodes and with the just-finished set of episodes clear in our minds, it’s a great time to discuss some ideas surrounding what creator Mike White will serve up for our next television vacation.
Where will the guests stay next?
The resort destination is a key contributor to the vibe of each White Lotus season. Hawaii was a tropical paradise with dark political undertones in the first go-around, and Sicily was all about romance and sexual energy under the Italian sun. How will the writers of the...

A naïve reporter once wrote on this very website that Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) was the connective tissue between seasons of “The White Lotus,” that she was unlikely to be killed off on Mike White’s HBO series as she tied it all together.
That reporter was wrong.
With Tanya out of the picture, there’s an unofficial opening for a new White Lotus loyalist to return to the resort in the already-announced Season 3 for all-new hair-raising encounters, fashion, and probably several deaths. Creator Mike White has already stated that he sees Season 3 being “a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” but hasn’t hinted yet at which existing characters might embark on that journey.
Anyone or no one could make a comeback, but here’s who we think has the highest chance of returning to the White Lotus resorts — and why we want to...
