Back in July, it was announced that Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur (Coda) had signed on to star in the horror film Primate. Since then, Johnny Sequoyah (pictured above) of Dexter: New Blood has signed on to star in the film with Kostur – and now, as the project draws closer to production, Deadline has revealed that ten more actors have joined the cast. Exclusive: The Paramount horror movie Primate is rounding out its cast with 10 actors: Jessica Alexander (Amadeus), Victoria Wyant (My Fault: London), Benjamin Cheng, Gia Hunter (Sherlock and Daughter), Miguel Torres Umba (National Theatre co-production Kin), Kae Alexander (Ready Player One), Tienne Simon (Grime Kids), Charlie Mann (Lazarus), Amina Abdi and Albert Magashi (National Theatre Live: Dear England). Dexter is getting resurrected... again. After a one-season limited series that previously brought the character back, Michael C. Hall's titular serial killer will return for a new sequel series.

Per THR, the sequel series was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con (Sdcc). Clye Phillips, the showrunner and an executive producer of the original Dexter series, revealed the news during a panel for Dexter: Original Sin, a separate prequel series that's also in the works. The new sequel is titled Dexter: Resurrection, which serves as a follow-up to 2021's Dexter: New Blood and is set in the present day. Also confirmed was the return of Hall as Dexter Morgan.

It’s truly the end of an era as the fate of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) has been sealed in the final episode of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood. And whether or not fans like the ending this time around, there’s no going back.

Dexter: New Blood, Showtime’s revival of the long-running serial killer drama Dexter, pulled in strong viewership numbers in its premiere Sunday.

The premiere episode is projected to have delivered 2.2 million viewers across linear and streaming platforms and is on track to become the most-watched Showtime title ever on Ott on its premiere day, according to the network. It also was the most-watched scripted drama season opener telecast among all premium channels so far this year.

On linear, the premiere episode drew 866K viewers Sunday. On-demand and streaming viewership is projected to hit 1.303M, making for a 2.169M total viewers projected for Sunday across platforms.

In the pantheon of shows known for having the “worst series finale” of all time, Showtime’s “Dexter” is right at the top. Since the episode titled “Remember the Monsters?” originally aired eight years ago, anti-hero serial killer Dexter Morgan faking his own death and pivoting to becoming a lumberjack has been a shorthand for what a show shouldn’t do when it finally ends, even if it’s ending on top or on its own terms. Showtime released the official trailer for the upcoming event series Dexter: New Blood, providing more than a few clues about what longtime fans of the killer show can expect.

For starters, Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan clearly hasn’t outrun his Dark Passenger. “Monsters walk among us,” Dexter says in voiceover, after we’ve seen that a serial killer – the exact type that the avenging Dexter has always chosen as his victims – has been stalking his new Upstate New York territory. “I might still be a monster, but I’m an evolving monster.”

And just to make absolutely certain we get the sharp-edged point, we see Dex sharpening a meat cleaver, and hear his long-suffering sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) ask, “You can not wait to kill again – have you learned nothing?”

Peacock has released a trailer for “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” which premieres on Sept. 30.

The four-part UFO docuseries sees Lovato, their friend Matthew and their sister Dallas consult with leading experts, investigate eyewitness encounters, uncover government documents and conduct tests to search for the truth about UFOs. In the trailer, Lovato explains that they already believe in extraterrestrials, calling themself a “UFO experiencer” and recounting a trip to Joshua Tree where they saw a bright light moving erratically through the sky. In “Unidentified with Demi Lovato,” they aim to convince their family and friends of the same.

When “Dexter” returns in November after eight years, it will feature very few of the elements from the Showtime drama’s original run. That will include a change to the show’s famous opening credits.

“We haven’t really completely closed the idea of what the new titles are, but they will not [incorporate] the cheekiness of what we had before, the jauntiness and irony of what we had before,” Clyde Phillips, who is returning as showrunner, said. Phillips led the show’s first four seasons, which are considered its golden years by many fans. “The viewer should expect that the title sequence, if there is even a sequence … will be very different from what they’ve seen before.”

“Dexter” is coming back, and there will be (new) blood. Showtime previously announced that its revival of the hit crime drama series will premiere November 7, but more details were spilled during Tuesday’s virtual panel with the show’s stars and creators at the Television Critics Association Summer 2021 Press Tour.

The show’s cast and creators emphasized that though “New Blood” is a sequel to the original series, they intended to have the upcoming show stand on its own and did not rely on the same visual style or spend excessive time exploring what Dexter had been doing in the years since the events of the original show.

“We don’t spend a great deal of time in a flashback or anything like that in regard to where Dexter has been,” Hall said. “We’re led to believe that he has been somewhat nomadic. He’s doing more than just existing.

Deadline is reporting that (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird) have joined the recently announced revival series.

Details have been scarce about the project ever since it was officially ordered, but these new casting announcements certainly shed some light on some plot details.

Jones is on board as Angela Bishop, "the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York," according to the outlet.

Sequoyah is playing Audrey, "Bishop's brash and opinionated teenage daughter," while Miller is playing Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department.

Rachel Naomi Hilson has joined the cast of Disney+ series “Love, Simon” as a series regular in a recasting, TheWrap has learned.

Hilson replaces previously cast actress Johnny Sequoyah as Mia, who Disney+ describes as the “whip-smart friend with a quick and easy laugh” of main character Victor, played by “Annabelle Comes Home” actor Michael Cimino.
