While Tom Holland gears up for his next outing as Spider-Man in the MCU, an industry insider reported that Sony was looking for another Spider-Man for their universe. Though fans might be demanding a follow-up with Andrew Garfield’s version after his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony seems to be having different plans.
The studio is rumored to be looking for an actor to play Miles Morales in their upcoming live-action film. The makers had previously teased that the film was in active development and that they would be introducing the fan-favorite character in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. Development on the project seems to be finally beginning.

There have been rumors that Sony Pictures might be developing a live-action Miles Morales movie since the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film swung into theatres in 2019, and last year, former studio head Amy Pascal appeared to confirm that tentative plans were in place.
“You’ll see all of it,” Pascal said when asked about the prospect of Miles making the jump to live-action during a red-carpet interview. “It’s all happening.”
Nothing particularly concrete, but rumors have persisted, and Sony was said to be interested in fast-tracking a Morales feature after the massive success of Into the Spider-Verse sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. Now, it seems we finally have some movement on the project.

Sony Pictures boss Tony Vinciquerrara recently revealed the studio's plans to increase the usage of AI in movies and TV shows. He believes it will help them produce those in "more efficient ways," but it's ultimately little more than a way to save money.
Last year, DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg suggested AI has the potential to cut the costs of making an animated movie by as much as 90%, with only 50 artists needed to create them in place of 500. While that's an exciting prospect for studio bosses, it's left film fans concerned.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is currently undated due to what a long time the web-slinger's groundbreaking movies take to create. Now, producer/writer Christopher Miller has promised fans AI will not be used on his watch.

He had a lot to say about the studio and Miyazaki and also talked about his films that have changed the entire scene of the anime industry.
However, while talking about Miyazaki, Fujimoto pointed out one particular trait of the creator that makes him different from other filmmakers and directors. Fujimoto also stated that he believes that this trait would no longer be found in others.

AlleyCatz, an unassuming bowling alley in a fictional California town, isn’t compelling to passersby or potential customers from the outside. The venue run by Mozell (Sister Sister’s Jackée Harry) has a drab brick exterior, a monument to the sad architecture of suburban shopping centers. It doesn’t offer much when you walk inside either. The lanes need waxing, the bar requires tending and the equipment is in various stages of disrepair. Some people might take one look at AlleyCatz and run, but Walt (Shameik Moore), the silly protagonist of Yassir and Isaiah Lester’s boisterous directorial debut The Gutter, doesn’t have a choice. He needs a job.
The young man, who prefers to live life without a shirt, has been fired from more gigs than he can count. In a particularly amusing early sequence, Walt recounts his shoddy employment history to Mozell, whose face becomes increasingly disturbed with each revelation.

Laughter strikes from all sides in “The Gutter,” the kind of brash and boisterous broad comedy that has largely been missing from multiplexes in recent years. Directors Yassir and Isaiah Lester seem to share a special ability with their main character Walt (Shameik Moore), who has a habit of hitting the central pin in spite of having a different delivery every time he steps up to the line. The same goes for the filmmaking siblings in this hysterical tale of a bowling alley employee who finds he’s better on the lanes than behind the bar.
Although Walt changes things up from a fast-pitch softball-like windup to simply throwing the bowling ball overhand, you just don’t know where a sight gag or a sharp one-liner will hit you when every part of the frame seems like a ripe opportunity for humor. Nothing seems off limits when Walt takes an...

To say that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was great would be a major understatement, as it greatly impacted how major studios perceived 3D animation. Following its impeccable quality, accompanied by a great story, arguably the best of all Spider-Man features. the Shameik Moore-led film was deservedly awarded the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
And with its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, being on par with the first one, it seemed like another Academy win awaited the IP, but it fell inches short of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron. Reacting to this loss, lead star Moore took to social media to share a one-word response “Robbed”, which landed him in hot waters, and the actor has finally broken his silence amidst the backlash.

It had been more than two decades since Hayao Miyazaki won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, having first taken home gold with 2002’s Spirited Away. Until this year, he only saw just two more nominations, with Howl’s Moving Castle and The Wind Rises losing out to Wallace & Gromit and Elsa & Anna. But this past weekend, at 83, Miyazaki once again came out victorious, edging out the likes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Pixar’s Elemental. While many of us cheered the achievement, there was one sourpuss who thought the movie he starred in was “robbed”.
Shameik Moore, who voiced Miles Morales / Spider-Man in Across the Spider-Verse, took to social media on the night of the Academy Awards to say that his movie was “*robbed”, prompting followers to call out the arrogance of the comment. As such, Moore addressed the response soon after, admitting he was bitter. “Respect to the winners.

“Spider-Verse” star Shameik Moore found himself in hot water on X (formerly Twitter) during the 2024 Oscars when he seemingly reacted to “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” losing the Academy Award for best animated feature to Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron” by posting a one word reaction: “Robbed.” Many fans were quick to criticize Moore, who voices Miles Morales in the animated franchise, and pointed out that Miyazaki is a master of animation who directed an equally acclaimed movie.
“Respect to the winner,” Moore posted in a follow-up response. “It’s true, I’m definitely a sore loser, but we didn’t lose, ‘Spider-Verse’ has impacted A Lot of lives. We may not have been acknowledged tonight but life goes on, and Beyond….. yea get ready.”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star Shameik Moore has apologized for his reaction to the film’s loss at the 2024 Oscars.
On Sunday night, the Into the Spider-Verse sequel lost to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron in the best animated feature film category. Moore, who voices Miles Morales (aka Spider-Man) in the franchise, immediately took to X (formerly known as Twitter), where he posted that the film was “robbed.”
He received many replies that noted that the Sony animated movie lost to a critically acclaimed film made by a “legend.” Other comments echoed those remarks, asking Moore to respect Miyazaki’s work.
Minutes after seeing the replies, Moore admitted he agreed he should’ve been more graceful on social media. “Respect to the winners. It’s true, I’m definitely a sore loser, but we didn’t lose, Spiderverse has impacted Alot of lives, we may not...

Charles Melton’s awards campaign for his breakout role in “May December” started in May when the Todd Haynes drama co-starring Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman premiered at Cannes.
Since then, Melton has gone on to receive a slew of award nominations and wins. He picked up Golden Globe and Independent Spirit Award noms and won a Gotham for outstanding supporting performance.
Fans of the film, however, were disappointed when Melton didn’t receive an Oscar nomination, and the movie only earned one for original screenplay.

The 2018 film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, was a boldly stylistic and striking foray into the flagging superhero genre, and featured a wild multi-dimensional story that brought multiple Spider-People (and a Spider-Pig) together from various threads in Marvel Comics canon. The main character was Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), although audiences also met a few versions of the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well. Critics and audiences loved "Into the Spider-Verse," and the film would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The 2023 sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" resembled "The Matrix Reloaded" in many ways. Along with the partying, there was also some reflection on the key role writers play in any aspect of entertainment, including awards shows. It came courtesy of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stars Daniel Kaluuya, Hailee Steinfeld and Shameik Moore in one of the best received comedy bits of the night as the trio presented the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
“This year, we were all reminded of the critical importance of writers to the creative process,” Steinfeld said, referring to the five-month-long WGA strike, which brought Hollywood to a standstill.
“To demonstrate the importance of writers and writing, we asked that this segment be written not by writers but by studio executives,” Kaluuya added.

Hosting an awards show is often considered a thankless job. You’re asked to walk out alone, in front of a room full of celebrities and millions of people watching at home, and immediately entertain each and every one of them. If you do, you’re often still forgotten in favor of the night’s winners, surprises, and speeches. If you don’t, then God help you. And right now, God may be the only one ready to listen to more from Jo Koy.
Making Ricky Gervais’ faux-edgy stand-up look sharp and Jerrod Carmichael’s confessional comedy look extra extraordinary, Koy’s opening monologue at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards was nothing short of a catastrophe. Jokes that aspired to cutting satire could barely hold a butter knife — throwing shade at Old Dad Robert De Niro? — and the many others that played it safe were first-thought gags, at best. “I’ve just got one complaint,...

Cillian Murphy reflected on his long professional history with director Christopher Nolan while accepting the prize for best actor in a drama film for his title role in Oppenheimer at the 2024 Golden Globes.
“I knew the first time I walked on a Chris Nolan set that it was different. I could tell by the level of rigor, the level of focus, the level of dedication, the complete lack of any seating options for actors,” Murphy quipped with a laugh, “that I was in the hands of a visionary director and master.” Nolan, who accepted the Golden Globe for best director earlier in the ceremony, has directed Murphy in such previous films as the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception and Dunkirk.
Murphy continued by calling out a number of his co-stars in the biographical film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, credited as the father of the atomic bomb. “We had the most incredible ensemble cast in this movie,...

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White whipped up a second straight win for best actor in a television comedy at the 2024 Golden Globes.
“I love this show,” White said from the podium, thanking his team on the kitchen-centric FX/Hulu hit. “I love you guys so much. I must have done something right in this life to be in your company.”
Also nominated in the category were Bill Hader (Barry), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).
Last year, White took home the Globe in the category for his work as chef Carmy on the first season of The Bear. Sudeikis prevailed in the category in the two years prior to that for playing the title character on Ted Lasso.
In his acceptance speech last year, White praised his Bear colleagues and said that the show “changed my life.

Hollywood’s hot labor summer (and fall) got a pointed mention at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards — one that came from the show’s writers.
Presenting the award for best motion picture screenplay, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stars Daniel Kaluuya, Hailee Steinfeld and Shameik Moore performed a scripted bit to highlight the importance of writers to the filmmaking process. The Writers Guild of America was on strike for 148 days in 2023 before securing significant gains in a new contract with studios and streamers.
“To demonstrate the importance of writers and writing, we asked that this segment be written not by writers, but by studio executives,” Kaluuya said, before awkwardly asking, “What is up, Shameik?”
“Not much, Daniel,” Moore replied. “How are you, Hailee?”
Steinfeld: “I am … relatable. I am enjoy the Golden Globs. Do you agree?”
After a couple more exchanges in the same vein, Moore wrapped up by saying, “Here...
