Bruce Springsteen has unveiled “Addicted to Romance,” a song featuring his wife, Patti Scialfa, written for the upcoming film, She Came to Me. Watch the lyric video for the song below.
Produced by Ron Aniello and The National’s Bryce Dessner, “Addicted to Romance” is a piano-led track describing a new romance in true Springsteen fashion, with a narrator who promises to share his dreams with his love and muse, the “neighborhood’s broken daughter,” who’s got him hooked on the rush of love. The song was first announced earlier this year, and was teased by Springsteen on social media leading up to its release, which arrives a week before She Came to Me itself (due on October 6th).
Starring Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, and Marisa Tomei, and directed by Rebecca Miller, She Came to Me tells the story of a frustrated composer who, with the encouragement of his therapist-turned-wife,...

The National’s Bryce Dessner has detailed his new soundtrack for the upcoming absurdist comedy She Came to Me starring Peter Dinklage. Out September 29th via Warner Classics and Unigram, the album features an original song from Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa called “Addicted to Romance.”
According to a press release, She Came to Me director Rebecca Miller said the soundtrack came from an “intimate process” of collaboration with Dessner, who boarded the film during its earliest stages. This was especially important since the album had to incorporate two on-screen operas from the movie. Conducted by André de Ridder, the score features contributions from French pianist Katia Labèque and vocals from Greer Grimsley, Alicia Hall Moran, Isabel Leonard, and Emmett O’Hanlon.
In a statement, Dessner described the film as “one of the most rewarding and creative experiences I have had” and said it allowed him to “make the music that I wanted to make,...

Bruce Springsteen has penned an original song for Rebecca Miller’s new film “She Came to Me,” which will have its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival this week.
The song, “Addicted to Romance,” was written and performed by Springsteen, and will be heard by audiences for the first time during the movie’s Feb. 16 screening, when it plays over the end credits.
Romantic comedy “She Came to Me” stars Peter Dinklage as a moody classical composer struggling with writer’s block. When he meets a quirky tugboat captain (Marisa Tomei), he finds the muse for his next opus and is encouraged by his therapist wife (Anne Hathaway) to make his big comeback. But just as his career looks to take off, his personal life implodes.
Discussing how she came to work with Springsteen, Miller explained that she previously had The Boss’s “Dancing in the Dark” as part...

Seven minutes before Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to call Rolling Stone to talk about his new R&b covers album, Only the Strong Survive, a number I’ve never seen before from Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey pops up on my cellphone. This is usually the point where a manager or publicist conferences in the interview subject, but there’s just one person on the other end of the line. “Hey,” says a gruff, familiar voice. “It’s Bruce.”
He’s wrapping up an exhausting couple of weeks in which...

It’s been a decade of reminiscence and reflection for Bruce Springsteen. He’s revisited classic albums on tour, retold his life story on the page and Broadway stage, and written songs about late childhood friends. Even when he released 2020’s Letter to You, his first proper E Street Band record in years, he used some of his earliest Seventies songs as source material.
Only the Strong Survive, his new album of reverent soul and R&b covers, arrives in this same spirit of nostalgic recollection for the 73-year-old. The...

Bruce Springsteen is releasing a collection of soul covers entitled Only The Strong Survive on November 11. Check out the video right here for “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” which was originally recorded by Frank Wilson.
The album centers around soul classics, both obscure and well-known, released from the Sixties through the Eighties. It gets its title from Jerry Butler’s 1969 tune “Only The Strong Survive.” The disc also includes “Soul Days” by Dobie Gray, “Nightshift” by the Commodores, “I Wish It Would Rain” by the Temptations, and “Somebody...

More than a dozen of music’s biggest stars, from Beyoncé to H.E.R., would love an Emmy to add to their award shelves.
A Variety review of the 535 entries throughout the Television Academy’s seven music categories reveals a surprising number of A-list singers, songwriters and music directors apparently eager for TV’s top honor. Among them:
H.E.R. (with Josiah Bassey) is entered for original song for “Hold Us Together” from the Disney Plus movie “Safety.” She won the Oscar earlier this year and already has four Grammys, so an Emmy win would put her three-fourths of the way to a fabled Egot. Beyoncé is entered for music direction and original song (both with Derek Dixie) for “Black Is King,” her musical film companion to “The Lion King” (also on Disney Plus). The song “Black Parade” won her a Grammy earlier this year for best R&b performance.

Bruce Springsteen’s Super Bowl ad for Jeep has been removed from YouTube after news broke on Wednesday that the singer was arrested in New Jersey late last year for driving while intoxicated.
“It would be inappropriate for us to comment on the details of a matter we have only read about and we cannot substantiate,” Jeep said in a statement to Pitchfork. “But it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established. Its message of community and unity is as relevant as ever. As is the message that drinking and driving can never be condoned.”
According to the New York Times, Springsteen was arrested on Nov. 14 in New Jersey’s Gateway National Recreation Area. He faces charges for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area. A spokesperson for the National Park Service told the Times...

As expected, Bruce Springsteen’s rumored Jeep commercial was the big highlight of this year’s Super Bowl ad haul, with The Boss making his first-ever appearance in a commercial. His music, however, remains an advertising holdout, as Springsteen opted to compose an original score for the two-minute spot with frequent collaborator Ron Aniello rather than license one of his hits.
Still, Olivier Francois, chief marketing officer for Jeep’s parent company Stellantis, was thrilled to finally team up with his white whale of all celebrity cameos. “It took me ten years to get him in, but once he was in, he was all in,” he told Variety’s Brian Steinberg over the weekend.
Those looking for Sunday-night surprises had to make do with previously unannounced cameos by Drake (State Farm) and Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton & Adam Levine (T-Mobile), as the vast majority of this year’s ads premiered several...

After avoiding any connection with product advertising for his entire career, Bruce Springsteen will appeared in a Jeep Super Bowl ad on Sunday. Shot over five days last month in Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska by Springsteen’s longtime collaborator Thom Zimny, the ad’s visual approach is not unlike the atmospheric highway sequences in Zimny and Springsteen’s 2019 Western Stars concert film.

After driving “Thunder Road” for decades, Bruce Springsteen is taking a detour on Madison Avenue.
The musician known as “The Boss” will command two minutes of commercial time in Super Bowl Lv Sunday night, all part of a mammoth Jeep ad meant to reflect a national mood of coming together after four years of politics and polarization. The spot does something else, too: It ends a decade-long quest by one of the industry’s most colorful marketing executives to convince the iconic artist behind stirring songs like “Born in the U.S.A.,” “Growing Up” and “The Rising” to do something he has never done before — align himself with an advertiser.
The commercial is designed to spur viewers to mend the various rifts that have erupted in the nation in recent years. “We just have to remember the very soil we stand on is common ground,” Springsteen says as he holds forth...

One of the things that always impressed me about Bruce Springsteen is the melodic possibilities he can find in two-chord vamps. He doesn’t do it all the time, that would prove to be monotonous all night, but when he does it is a consistent affirmation of the power of rock and roll. It’s like he took every early inspiration which weaned him and plays their feel as if it were an instrument. Not the melodies, but what the melodies convey. The “stone and the gravel” in Springsteen’s voice may not be a suitable vehicle for the smooth vibratos of Drifters’ hits, but he never misses a note or what that note wants you to feel.
The new record is called Letter to You, and Springsteen’s weathered-through-rain-heat-and-gloom-of-night delivery consistently implies a range of additional tonic possibilities. And he’s got the band to back it up. His...

Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen’s new album Letter to You on Oct. 23, according to Rolling Stone. The 12-track album is the first to feature The E Street Band since High Hopes in 2014. As an introductory salutation to his 20th studio LP, Springsteen released the title-track lead single “Letter to You.”
“I love the emotional nature of ‘Letter to You,’” Springsteen said in a statement, via Rolling Stone. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”
This is the first time Springsteen has performed with the E Street Band since The River 2016 tour. The music video shows the band working in Springteen’s home studio in New Jersey.

In the early Nineties, Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa moved to Los Angeles and found themselves living next door to movie and TV director Bobby Roth, who has worked on everything from Miami Vice and Beverly Hills 90210 to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. They formed a tight friendship that resulted in Roth occasionally sprinkling Scialfa and Springsteen songs into his movies, including his 2003 John Ritter–Janeane Garofalo black comedy Manhood, and that bond only deepened when he married Springsteen’s sister, actress and photographer Pamela Springsteen. “He’s part of the family,...

After waiting four years to drop his “Western Stars” album, Bruce Springsteen has tripled down: After releasing the album earlier this year, he’s released a film about it and, on Oct. 25, a soundtrack to that film.
Columbia Records will release “Western Stars – Songs From The Film,” featuring each of the live performances captured in Springsteen’s directorial debut, “Western Stars,” which he co-directed by longtime collaborator Thom Zimny. The soundtrack includes every song from Springsteen’s most recent studio album of the same name, as well as a cover of Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy” — a song that summarizing many of the elements he described to Variety in 2017 as inspiring the album. Springsteen and Ron Aniello produced the soundtrack.

Bruce Springsteen makes his directorial debut in upcoming musical documentary Western Stars.
Bruce Springsteen was wrong when he predicted his legend on an outtake from Born in the USA. The Boss knew his "life would be immortalized." Not in some major motion picture or great American novel, though. His wife figured he was worthy of a "TV Movie." It seems he's getting every kind of movie except an After School Special.
