Ryan N. Smith is an American investigative journalist and television news executive with Paramount Global. He was named Deputy Story Editor of "48 Hours" on CBS in 2022. Prior to that he served as a lead development producer, producer and field producer for the newsmagazine.
He first gained recognition for his work at the "Late Show with David Letterman" and the CBS News Political Unit covering the 2004 Presidential Election.
Ryan has won accolades and awards for his work, including an Emmy for outstanding coverage of a breaking news story and the Alfred I. DuPont - Baton for excellence in broadcast journalism.
Ryan graduated with a Master's in Science with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York. He is a former White House intern, magna cum laude graduate of Wabash College, and a native of Sandusky, Ohio.
