Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein season 2 ended with some cliffhangers, a time jump, and more excitement than most series have in a whole season. One of the many Hindi language dramas that have come to Netflix in recent years, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is a romantic crime thriller that premiered in January 2022, with season 2 coming almost two years later in November 2024. The series stars Tahir Raj Bhasin as Vikrant Singh Chauhan, a man living a dangerous life in India who has been forced into a marriage with the daughter of a crime lord named Akheraj (Saurabh Shukla).
The series dabbles in many of the familiar tropes that viewers have come to expect from Tollywood and Bollywood productions and restructures them for something unique and fun. Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein season 1 ended with Vikrant hiring a mercenary to kill his wife, Purva (Anchal Singh), only for the mercenary to double-cross Vikrant to...

83 Box Office Revisit ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
The Ranveer Singh starrer sports biographical drama 83 was released on December 24, 2021 with a lot of expectations. The movie revolved around the Indian Cricket Team’s historic win at the 1983 World Cup under former Indian skipper Kapil Dev. Ranveer stepped into the shoes of Dev wherein his performance and uncanny resemblance to the cricket legend was also lauded. However, this did not save the movie from emerging as a major box office dud.
83 Box Office Revisit
Mounted at an ambitious budget of more than 200 crore, the Ranveer Singh starrer opened at 12.64 crore. The number was not bad but given the scale of the project, it was definitely expected to have an opening above the 15 crore bracket. By its first weekend, the film remained below the 50 crore bracket wherein it amassed 47 crores. The film earned around 71.41 crore by its first week. When it was expected...

Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein starts out as an indulgent binge-worthy crime drama that grows more and more outlandish as the series progresses. This is a small town love story that is far removed from the modern concept of love. The themes that the show deals with are love, power, toxicity, politics, loyalty, revenge, and murder. In an effort to explore these themes, there are countless characters introduced to this show that add to the drama. Ye Kaali Kaali Aankhein now has a second season because there’s always an audience for this kind of romantic crime drama.

Starring Shweta Tripathi, Anchal Singh and Tahir Raj Bhasin in the lead roles, the second season of Netflix’s Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is pretty much a disaster. The shocking, slightly unusual premise might have garnered an audience in the first season, but unfortunately, the show misses an opportunity to deliver something exciting this time around. A girl obsessed with a boy who strongly believed that she always brought him bad luck was a silly premise that did not deserve to or even have the potential to return with another season, and it seems the creators were clueless about how the story should progress. It was a struggle for me to sit through the six episodes that at times made no sense at all.
The protagonist, Vikrant Singh Chauhan, had planned to murder his wife, Purva Awasthi, in season one. But instead of killing her, the contract killer Vikrant had hired abducted her.

Sultan Of Delhi (Disney+Hotstar; 9 Episodes)
Starring Tahir Raj Bhasin, Mouni Roy, Anjum Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Anupriya Goenka, Nishant Dahiya, Mehreen Pirzada , Harleen Sethi
Directed by Milan Luthria, Suparn Verma
Once upon a time, Milan Luthria directed a film about gangsters called Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Not that it was any great shakes. But compared to Luthria’s new homage to gangsterism, it was a masterpiece.
The new monsterpiece stretching into nine episodes should have never been made. It is hideously bad in plotting and woefully inadequate in execution. The sets are tacky: a refugee camp in the opening episode looks like a college canteen.
Dull and cheesy, it establishes an immediate yawn sumbandh with the audience, provided there is an audience for these tales glorifying gangsters and sociopaths who should ideally be placed in the trashcan of anonymity.

Disney+ Hotstar, as a streaming giant, is on a roll, releasing back-to-back web series with interesting stories. The Freelancer last month was an interesting tale of Indian mercenaries. We also had another addition to the Commando series directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, which was about a soldier who carried out a daring solo mission to extract his colleague from a prison in the neighboring country. Aakhri Sach, a police crime drama based on the Burari deaths, was a decent adaptation of the real-life incident. These shows restored viewers’ faith in the streaming giant, for they could see and enjoy diverse content on it. Milan Luthria’s Sultan of Delhi is yet another addition to this long list of television shows that expands the channel’s portfolio.

Actress Anupriya Goenka has spilled the beans on how she prepared for her character ‘Shankari’ in the web series ‘Sultan of Delhi’, revealing how she made a backstory to understand her role.
Being a part of a Milan Luthria project is no joke and every role is integral, equally important and well designed and thought off. When the director and his vision is on point, actors do feel the pressure to prepare extremely well for their respective roles.
Talking about how she prepared for her role in the series, Anupriya said: “It is one of the most difficult characters that I have played so far as earlier I have played roles where the character is doing the right things, and has mostly taken responsibility of the people around her, and I could relate to that but Shankari is a very vicious character who can harm innocent people for her goals.

Actor Anjumm Sharma shared how he was intimidated when he had to perform a dance sequence with Mouni Roy in ‘Sultan of Delhi’, and called her a ‘great dancer’.
