James Gunn and Zack Snyder have both helmed superhero movies that have gathered many fans. Although in real life the two filmmakers are friends, the internet has often believed the two are enemies and is constantly pitting them against each other.
Snyder helmed several entries in the DC Extended Universe, and Gunn is now rebooting the entire universe without using the former's work as canon. Both have dedicated fans ready to defend their favorites, although there is no real feud between the two auteurs. After posing together for a viral photo, Gunn revealed the reason why he decided to share the photo in a new interview with Variety.

The DC comics have spawned so many great stories and characters, and some of them got the chance to be adapted on the big and small screen. Zack Snyder was among the first filmmakers to tackle several projects in the DC Extended Universe but, as his time with the studio was done, James Gunn will take over the characters in the upcoming DC Universe.
The conversation about whose universe was better is inevitable, as Snyder has a series of devoted fans set to praise him, while Gunn has yet to impress since he's at the beginning of his long journey. However, over the years, the two filmmakers have often praised each other's work. Now, Gunn has proven the two are close in real life, as well, with a photo on Threads that's going viral on social media.

There’s been a major shakeup in Gold Derby’s Oscar odds for Best Actress: The Substance star Demi Moore has jumped into our top five for the first time.
Coralie Fargeat‘s body-horror flick was a late-comer to the Oscars contest, only picking up serious steam in the past couple of months. Aside from Moore’s Best Actress bid, The Substance recently climbed into Gold Derby’s top 10 for Best Picture and top five for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay; the film is also predicted to win the race for Best Makeup & Hairstyling.
Moore is a one-time Emmy nominee for If These Walls Could Talk (1997), but she has yet to be recognized at the Academy Awards. The actress did pick up her third career Golden Globe nod for The Substance, as well as nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, Satellite Awards, and Independent Spirit Awards. Might her role...

The Order is making its way to theaters, presenting Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Jude Law in a very different role. A period piece, the film sees the rise of a white supremacist terrorist group, and as Law has addressed, there are themes from the movie that are unfortunately still relevant today.
To help promote the release of The Order on Dec. 6, Law spoke about the film with Cbr's Kevin Polowy. In the movie, Law plays Terry Husk, an FBI agent looking to take down a white nationalist group led by Nicholas Hoult's Bob Mathews. The actor commented on how important it was for director Justin Kurzel and the filmmakers to accurately reflect the state of racism in the United States four decades ago, as that would help generate discussion about how these kinds of groups are still present in the real world in 2024.

In this extended interview with CBRs Kevin Polowy, Heretic directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods dive deep into the inspirations behind their latest film, a chilling exploration of faith, belief, and the unknown. Drawing influence from the profound themes of religion and the iconic sci-fi movie Contact, the filmmakers reveal how these elements shaped the story's core.
Heretic is a psychological horror-thriller starring Hugh Grant as Mr. Reed, a reclusive and unsettling antagonist. The story follows two young Mormon missionaries, played by Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East, who visit Mr. Reed's secluded home during their mission in a picturesque rural area. Initially welcomed with charm and hospitality, the missionaries soon find themselves trapped in a horrifying situation. Mr. Reed's intellectual debates on theology escalate into sinister and violent psychological games, forcing the women to confront their faith and survival instincts.

There’s a new frontrunner in Gold Derby’s Oscar odds for Best Actor: Adrien Brody (“The Brutalist”). The American actor has officially broken his tie with Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”) to claim the No. 1 position on our chart at the upcoming 2025 Oscars. Of course, it’s still quite early in this awards season, and things could keep changing as our experts, editors, and users continue to update their predictions.
Brody plays László Tóth, a Hungarian-Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor, who emigrates to the United States in the 1940s in the hopes of achieving the American Dream. While László is waiting for his wife (Felicity Jones) to join him, he starts working with his cousin (Alessandro Nivola) at a furniture store, and he eventually comes into contact with a wealthy industrialist (Guy Pearce). The A24 fictional drama is directed by Brady Corbet, and is written by Corbet and Mona Fastvold.

Ahead of leading the cast of a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Anthony Mackie (Captain America: Brave New World) looked back on his first starring role in a feature film. It was a role he was told could end his career, but it was very "important" for him to take that risk.
Currently, Mackie and fellow MCU star Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) can be seen together in the new post-apocalyptic thriller Elevation. To help promote the film, the two reflected on the risks they've taken in their respective careers in an interview with Cbr's Kevin Polowy. Mackie shared how his first big role was as a gay character, remembering how this was something other actors at the time believed to be a career-destroying move.

“Anora” has remained Gold Derby’s predictions front-runner to win Best Picture at the 2025 Oscars for several months now, but the runner-up position has kept our awards pundits on their toes. Over the course of seven A Nightmare On Elm Street installments in ten years, supernatural slasher Freddy Krueger became an icon, loved by adults and kids alike. Creator Wes Craven was compelled to make the final film, New Nightmare, with his original cast playing themselves in a story of how Freddy Krueger had taken over popular culture. However, the same experiment had already been done in the previous film, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, in a subtler but cleverer way.
Series producer Rachel Talalay, who also had credits in John Waters movies and the satirical Tank Girl, made her directorial debut with the sixth A Nightmare On Elm Street film. Fans didn't appreciate the film's goofiness, feeling that it took Freddy's dark humor too far. However, this comic focus facilitated a clever examination of Freddy's infiltration of everything from video games to rock 'n' roll. The least popular sequel is...

Daredevil: Born Again is set to finally premiere on Disney+ in 2025, and the series will bring back both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in their respective roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Fans can also count on the new series to be no less violent than the original Daredevil, despite the change in platforms to Disney+.
At New York Comic Con, Cbr's Kevin Polowy discussed Daredevil: Born Again with Cox and D'Onofrio. While Marvel Studios has ventured into offering more adult content on Disney+ with the release of Echo, D'Onofrio said that Born Again will go "much further" than that series, suggesting it will be the "darkest" of any original show offered on Disney+ up to this point. The tease should come as a promising sign for fans who may have been concerned that the move to Disney+ from Netflix may have resulted in a softer tone.
