David Shaffer(1936-2023)

He received his medical degree from University College Hospital at the University of London, and trained in pediatrics at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. At Maudsley Hospital, he began doing research on youth suicide under the supervision of Michael Rutter, who is considered to be the founder of modern child psychiatry. He co-founded the Youth Anxiety Center, now called the Center for Youth Mental Health at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
