Spinning Out season 2 was canceled by Netflix due to low viewership figures during its first season, leading to disappointment for fans who were left with unanswered questions from the cliffhanger ending. The decision to cancel the show after only a month contributed to Netflix's reputation for early cancellations, although its renewal policy has become more forgiving since then. While it's not impossible for Spinning Out season 2 to happen, the slim chances of it being renewed four years after its cancellation would require significant fan campaigning and finding a new network or streaming platform to pick it up.
Spinning Out season 2 never arrived on Netflix, as the streamer canceled the Kaya Scoldario-led ice skating drama barely a month after it debuted. Release and canceled in 2020, Spinning Out was created by Samantha Stratton and starred Scoldario as young ice skater Kat. There are multiple purposes in play on Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 2, and the writers do an admirable job strumming the narrative tune so that they combine effectively.
Ben's leap into childhood hero David Tamara not only jogs his memory about his own identity, his actions while in the astronaut's body remind Addison of his personal integrity and moral compass.
Meanwhile, Jenn's reminder that Ben was the team's peacemaker pushes everyone onto a middle ground where they can do what they do best with transparency to help bring him back.
It comes down to trust. Both the teams on 1998's Atlantis shuttle and 2022's Quantum Leap project suffer setbacks when a key member is taken out of play.
For the Atlantis, Jim Reynolds's injury thrusts Samantha Stratton into command, a position she's trained for all her life but always with Jim's supervision.

Physicist Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) leaps from being part of a gang attempting to steal the Hope Diamond in episode one to being a member of the Atlantis space shuttle crew in NBC’s Quantum Leap episode two. All his friends and fellow lab employees hoped he’d leap from 1985 back to the present, but that’s definitely not the case as he’s currently stuck in 1998.
The space shuttle successfully launches and even reluctant traveler Ben’s wowed by the view from space. Their mission is to put the first piece of the International Space Station in place, and he listens to pilot Samantha Stratton (Carly Pope) and Commander Jim Reynolds (Jose Zuniga) exchange friendly banter. Stratton promises she’s going to make Reynolds proud as Ben is mesmerized by the stars.

Netflix's figure-skating series Spinning Out packs tons of drama into its first season, but there won't be a season two. On Tuesday, it was announced that the sports drama would not be returning for another season.
The series, created by Samantha Stratton, first launched on Jan. 1 and has since received mixed reviews from critics with a 63 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Spinning Out does have some niche appeal, as a drama about a niche sport, but the interpersonal storylines are every bit as intriguing as the actual skating stuff. For skating fans, it's a fun way to fill the gaps between Olympic cycles, with the next Winter Olympics a full two years away - and there are plenty of real-life references in the show!

Exclusive: Netflix has canceled competitive figure skating drama Spinning Out after one season. The decision comes a little over month after Spinning Out‘s January 1 release, consistent with Netflix’s practice of evaluating a month worth of viewership data before making a renewal decision on bubble shows.
Created by former competitive figure skater Samantha Stratton, Spinning Out starred Kaya Scodelario as Kat Baker, a high-level figure skater who is about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall takes her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pairs skater with a talented bad-boy partner, Justin Davis (Evan Roderick), she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. She splits her time between the ice rink, working as a waitress and living with her family in the nearby working-class town of Hawkley, Idaho. Kat’s mother (January Jones...

With Kaya Scodelario and January Jones on the payroll, it’s frankly astonishing “Spinning Out” landed on Netflix earlier this month with little fanfare. The natural assumption? This figure skating series must be terrible. As it turns out, while that’s not totally wide of the mark, creator Samantha Stratton (“Mr. Mercedes”) also has a couple of tidbits in store for viewers that might be worthwhile – even those with zero interest in the chilly sport or similarly chilly human interplay.

Spinning Out is a show that's well-deserving of a second season, especially with all the questions we still have left after the season finale (this article contains spoilers). Drawing an accurate depiction of what a disorder like bipolar can lead to if left untreated, characters Kat Baker and her mother, Carol, take viewers through an intense ride. The show itself reveals a trigger warning, but it still doesn't prepare us fully for the realization that people do suffer from the same things, and many don't have as happy an ending as Kat and Carol.

When your job entails watching several new shows a week, overlapping themes are inevitable. Still, similarities between shows are rarely as stark as those between the first seasons of Netflix’s “Spinning Out” (out Jan. 2) and USA’s “Dare Me” (which premiered Dec. 20). Both dramas focus on teen girls as restless as they are talented, a combination that serves them well in their respective competitive sports — figure skating for “Spinning Out,” cheerleading for “Dare Me” — and have them scrambling to survive in their daily lives. Both examine motherhood, and how adults can blur the lines in their relationships to the teenagers in their care to devastating effect. Both are pulpy and propulsive as they set their bleeding hearts on a silver platter for the audience to eat up. And yet,
“Spinning Out,” from Samantha Stratton, follows a family of three women, each determined, stubborn, and skilled in her own way.

Netflix has given a 10-episode series order to Spinning Out, an edgy drama set in the world of competitive figure skating starring Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), from Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell’s Safehouse Pictures (Underground).
Created by Samantha Stratton (Mr. Mercedes), a former competitive figure skater herself, Spinning Out centers on Kat Baker (Roberts), an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who’s about to turn in her skates after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track. When Kat seizes an opportunity to continue her career as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner, she risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life. On and off the ice, Kat and her new partner will face daunting odds, injury to body and soul, financial sacrifice, and even potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.
