Chicago – Popular nursery rhymes are told to children as a way to calm them, but also as some kind of cautionary tale. Most of us could hear the melody and be able to sing the words along with it. This predictability is both its greatest strength and weakness, but the predictability that is the nursery cautionary tale in “When the Bough Breaks” is anything but a strength.

One of the worst things a film can be is “okay”. At least if a film is at either extreme of good or bad, it tends to be memorable. I can remember every Adam Sandler film as well as I can remember every Steven Spielberg. The biggest problem with “When the Bough Breaks” is how easily it clears your mind as soon as it’s over. The only thought you might leave the film with is, “Wow, they’re going to need a good lawyer.

Jon Cassar is a director best known for his work on the 24 TV series. But he’s now bringing his thriller edge to the big screen, in the upcoming When The Bough Breaks.

This one’s a psychological thriller that stars Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall and Jaz Sinclair, with Jack Olsen penning the script. The movie is due out in the Us next month, although we don’t have a UK release date as of yet. Still, we do have a trailer for the film, and you can see it right here…

Back in April, Sony Pictures offered a first look at their thriller When the Bough Breaks at CinemaCon with the first trailer. We haven't heard anything about the movie since then, but with the September 16 release date getting closer and closer, the studio has rolled out a second trailer with even more new footage. This could be one of the most chilling thrillers of the year, and it may have couples seeking surrogates reconsidering adoption or other methods of bringing a baby into their lives.

Last night, during Sony Pictures' CinemaCon presentation, the studio unveiled the first footage from their upcoming Screen Gems thriller When the Bough Breaks, arriving in theaters September 16. If you weren't in Las Vegas last night, then you're in luck, because Screen Gems has debuted the first trailer for all to see. This thriller will most likely have eager parents thinking twice about the use of a surrogate to bring them a child.

Screen Gems has issued new 2016 release dates for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and When the Bough Breaks. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will hit theaters on February 19, 2016, going up against the EuropaCorp thriller Shut In. When the Bough Breaks will hit theaters on September 16, 2016, which is currently the only movie set for release on that date, but it comes just one week before Warner Bros.' The Lego Movie spinoff Ninjago on September 23, 2016.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same name. The story takes the characters from Jane Austen's literary classic Pride and Prejudice and puts them up against a zombie infestation in 19th Century England. Good news for Derf Backderf from San Diego Comic-Con: his autobiographical comic My Friend Dahmer has been optioned for a film adaptation. So even if there never is a movie made of this fine graphic novel, Backderf stands to see a pretty nice paycheck coming his way, and it always warms our hearts to see artists getting paid and paid well.

According to the article by The Hollywood Reporter, the producers are not looking to make a crass horror movie based upon the life and times of serial-killer/cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer, with whom Backderf attended high school. Rather, they seek to attain the same level of unflinching and disturbing coming-of-age story that Backderf brought to us in the book (which you should buy right now, if you haven’t already). Given their pedigree of more indie projects, these producers strike me as knowing what they’re doing.

At least, I certainly hope so.

"Belly" director Hype Williams is set to helm the independently financed $30 million sexual thriller "Lust" reports Variety.

"Basic Instinct" scribe Joe Eszterhas penned the screenplay which revolves around a 30-year old beauty who is married to an older Miami-based fashion magazine publisher. She is soon seduced by a younger charming playboy on a business trip in Los Angeles.

Throw in the backdrop of the high stakes Miami real estate scene, steamy sex scenes, high suspense, and a gay Russian personal assistant infatuated with the playboy who plans to extort the duo having the affair.

Jack Olsen recently rewrote some scenes. Scott Steindorff will produce.

We reported back in April that screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, who famously penned Basic Instinct, Flashdance and Showgirls, was returning to Hollywood with a new sexual thriller entitled Lust. Now Variety reports that Hype Williams will be taking the helm. Williams is most famous for directing music videos, but he made his feature debut with 1998’s Belly. Lust tells the story of a 30-year-old man who marries an older Miami magazine publisher. The wife is seduced by a younger playboy, who videotapes the two having sex which threatens to destroy the wife’s life. Not much else is known, but it's described as Basic Instinct in reverse. Judging from Eszterhas' previous material, and the logline for Lust, we're probably in for some borderline uncomfortable sex-scenes. The news broke today that Eric Thompson's Vigilante Entertainment has optioned New York Times bestselling author Gregg Olsen's book Starvation Heights for a feature film adaptation. For it Thompson will reunite with Rites of Spring director Padraig Reynolds.

Rising British actress Carey Mulligan ("An Education," "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps") is reportedly close to signing onto the horror feature "Cradle Will Fall" for Screen Gems reports Pajiba.

Jack Olsen penned the script about a psychologically disturbed surrogate mother who decides to keep both the baby and the husband. The report also lists Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett being sought to play the mother, Adrien Brody as the father, and both Gary Fleder and Mark Pellington up for director.

Mulligan's involvement depends upon a script rewrite says the source, but Mulligan's reps have denied the whole report over at Movieline. Let us wait and see how this pans out.

At the ripe old age of 25, Carey Mulligan has earned an Academy Award nomination and quickly cemented her reputation as one of the best young actresses working in film. However, accolades and praise does not necessarily put food on the table and shoes on the feet.
