Season 2 of the HBO series adaptation of the video game The Last of Us is now just one month away! The new batch of episodes are scheduled to begin airing on April 13th – and ahead of that date, Variety has revealed the names of six new additions to the cast, including the great Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix). The actor, who is often referred to as “Joey Pants,” recently appeared on just one episode of Dexter: Original Sin as a character called Mad Dog, who exited way too soon. Here’s hoping he’ll be on The Last of Us for a while longer.
Pantoliano’s fellow new additions to the cast are Alanna Ubach (Euphoria), Ben Ahlers (The Gilded Age), Hettienne Park (Hannibal), Robert John Burke (RoboCop 3), and Noah Lamanna (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds). Details on their characters have not been revealed.

This article contains heavy spoilers for Dexter: Original Sin.
Dexter: Original Sin is the spin-off prequel to the show Dexter, detailing the timeline of when Dexter Morgan officially became a vigilante serial killer. The show deeply explores Dexter's inexperience and his ongoing refinement of the art of meticulous murder. Dexter encounters numerous obstacles while searching for guilty individuals to target. However, his thirst for killing remains overpowering.
Dexter: Original Sin also takes the time to present additional origin stories for secondary characters such as Deborah Morgan, Maria Laguerta, and Brian Moser. The show subtly conveys the attitudes of its characters, providing clarity on aspects that were left unexplained in Dexter. Throughout its ten-episode first season, some episodes stand out as notably better than others.

By now, movie lovers are familiar with Keanu Reeves' legendary portrayal of the Underworld assassin, John Wick. The original John Wick (also known as John Wick: Chapter 1) came out in 2014. Over the last decade, the John Wick franchise has grown into a massive, multi-film series with three sequels, a fourth on the way, a spin-off movie (with more in the works), and a spin-off television prequel series. What's even more amazing is that every new installment seems to be better than the last, which is a bizarre rarity that most series never achieve.

For those who’ve been holding their breath since 2013, Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii plays like a spiritual successor to the beloved Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. But the game, historical accuracy and reality be damned, is also the most delightfully bonkers pirate simulator that you’re likely to ever play. It’s so successful on that front that the traditional Like a Dragon storytelling weaving in and out of the pirate material almost feels intrusive. But it’s a necessary evil—if one even wants to call it that, given that the traditional Like a Dragon elements here are as delightfully chaotic, weird, and overly earnest as ever.
After an amnesiac Goro Majima wakes up on a secluded Hawaiian island with nothing except a pair of pants to his name, a young boy named Noah, accompanied by the pet tiger he insists on calling a cat,...

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum producer Basil Iwanyk shares a new explanation about why Winston shoots John at the end of the movie. Directed by franchise veteran Chad Stahelski, the third installment in the hit franchise sees Keanu Reeves return as Wick to fend off an army of assassins after the High Table places a bounty on his head. The John Wick 3 ending memorably features Wick seemingly emerging victorious before Winston (Ian McShane), in a bid to regain control of his Continental hotel, shoots John off a rooftop.
In a new interview with The Direct, Iwanyk, who produced all four films in the franchise, breaks down Winston's decision during the final moments of John Wick 3. The producer provides a more overarching explanation, which includes the general ethos for all characters in the John Wick assassin universe, but also dives deep into the Winston and John dynamic and...

Tom Cruise is considered the biggest action star working right now, and for good reason. He is in his 60s, he is still running as fast as some of the most brilliant athletes out there and performing the wildest vehicular stunts imaginable. And it doesn’t seem like he is in the mood to vacate that throne yet. But that doesn’t mean actors from all over the globe aren’t trying to live up to the standards he has set, especially in terms of doing their own stunts. Raymond Lam Fung knocked it out of the park in Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In. Dev Patel was excellent in Monkey Man. Emilio Sakraya took everyone’s breath away in Sixty Minutes. Jun Jong-seo surprised everyone in Ballerina. The work done by Alban Lenoir in the two Lost Bullet films are inspirational. Joe Taslim, Iko Uwais, Cecep Arif Rahman, Julie Estelle,...

The following contains major spoilers for Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 5, "F Is for Fuck-up," now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime and debuting Sunday, Jan. 5 on Showtime. It also contains discussion of violence and sexual content.
Dexter: Original Sin Season 1, Episode 5 is called "F Is for Fuck-up" because it's all about mistakes the Morgan family makes. Yet as young Dexter Morgan and his father Harry hit low points, the Dexter prequel is on a high. That's because the problems give the characters, and the actors playing them, something new and interesting to do. The show is finding a voice that's different from its predecessor, and starting to justify its existence.
"F Is for Fuck-up" revolves around Dexter's bungled attempt to kill Mad Dog, and how Harry reacts to it. Elsewhere, Harry is devastated when something he's done comes back to ruin the Levi Reed murder trial. This is...

The contract killer named Mad Dog’s been flattened by a car, so what’s a serial killer in training to do? Some clean-up, and Fast. In Friday’s Dexter: Original Sin, both Dex and Harry make huge mistakes that nearly cost them. But were any lessons learned? Let’s break it all down.
Dexter calculates that he has about 15 minutes to clean things up before Miami Metro arrives on the scene. He uses a blacklight to check for blood and rolls up his plastic sheets, but the police are faster than usual to respond. Fortunately, Dex makes his...

The fifth episode of Dexter: Original Sin picks up from where the previous episode ended. At night, Anthony Moretti, aka Mad Dog, the famed hitman suspected of killing more than 200 people, managed to break free of Dexter’s captivity and ran out of his own house to seek help. Dex knew that he’d made a blunder and therefore followed Mad Dog when suddenly a truck hit him and killed him on the spot. Dex knew that Miami Metro would be on its way, which was why he had only 12-15 minutes to wipe the evidence from Mad Dog’s house. Using the tools borrowed from the forensic department, Dex quickly removed the trace of him ever being there. But you see, even though Mad Dog was dead, it wasn’t Dex who killed him, meaning his hunger wasn’t satisfied, and therefore Dex needs to find a new target as quickly as possible.

At the end of the previous episode, a mysterious killer who had abducted Judge Powell’s son, Jimmy, killed him in cold blood when he tried to escape the killer’s lair. The fourth episode of Dexter: Original Sin began with the aftermath of Jimmy’s death when two civilians found his corpse hanging from a bridge. The Miami Metro detectives quickly arrived at the crime scene to find any leads in the case, but they couldn’t. Meanwhile, our protagonist, Dex, couldn’t stand the sight of a child’s dead body and started to panic. This was when Harry helped him out and asked him to leave the crime scene with Officer Sanders to assist him on another murder case on the Coconut Grove. This entire scene hints at the fact that Dex needs to kill again. He couldn’t just let the matter go and bottle up his feelings like everyone else.

In Friday’s episode of Dexter: Original Sin, our titular killer with a code experiences some normal, non-murdery feelings when a child — Judge Powell’s abducted son Jimmy — is sadly found dead, his body strung from a bridge.
Dexter has a panicked, sickened feeling after seeing his first dead kid, and the whole experience shakes him to his core. Harry assures his son that it’s a good thing that Dexter feels so spun by the sight of a dead child. So while Miami Metro deals with the Powell case, Harry sends Dexter to another scene dealing with a dead prostitute.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Dexter: Original Sin episode 4.
Dexter: Original Sin's episode 4, "Fender Bender," shows Dexter making his first fatal error, resulting in the biggest cliffhanger ending in the prequel series. After a divisive Dexter: Original Sin premiere and a tremendously vintage double-episode release just in time for Christmas, the fourth of ten Dexter: Original episodes continues to make impressive and entertaining strides for the series. Episode 4 also leans into Debra's season-long narrative as one of the popular volleyball jocks at her high school. While her conflicts are much more common and less violent than the secrets her brother and father, Harry Morgan, keep hidden, Debra's attempts at scoring drugs to impress her friends and snub the mean girl feel like classic high school stunts pulled straight out of The Breakfast Club and Clueless.

Two talented mixed martial artists received much better roles in the third John Wick movie than they did in the Star Wars franchise. The John Wick movies are known for their impressive action, and actors Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman help provide one of the most impressive fight scenes in the series. During the climax of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Keanu Reeves' John Wick battles against two assassins played by Yayan Ruhian and Rahman, who are both Indonesian actors and mixed martial artists.
The actors use their impressive skills in mixed martial arts to provide one of the best John Wick fight scenes. An upcoming action thriller could very well be what every action movie fan has been waiting for. Sounding like the perfect cross between Liam Neesons 2008 hit Taken and director Gareth Evans The Raid, the movie boasts an incredible cast of martial arts actors with enviable action movie pedigree, a filmmaker with a penchant for stunts, and an exquisitely no-nonsense plot that should allow for the punches, kicks, and everything else in between to fly hard and fast.
Titled The Furious (which should tell you everything you need to know about what were in for), the action outing is all set to be helmed by Tanigaki Kenji, who is best known for his stunt work in the likes of the Donnie Yen movie Raging Fire, G.I. Boy Kills World's ending completely changes the story, with a series of major revelations throwing the film's protagonist (and the audience) for a major loop. The film focuses on the titular Boy. Played by Bill Skarsgrd, the otherwise nameless hero was left deaf, mute, and without a family due to the actions of the Van Der Koy family. After years of training, the Boy finally decides to take his revenge, setting off a massive bloody quest that leaves lots of corpses in its wake.
The third act of the wild action movie Boy Kills World is a game-changer, as it recontextualizes some of the film's most important characters and their relationships to one another. It turns one of the Boy's allies into an over-arching villain, without undoing the terrible actions of the Van Der Koy family. It even sets up a potential path for a sequel to Boy Kills World,...

One of the greatest action movies, not just of the modern era but of all time, is now available to stream for free. That's right, you can now bear witness to martial arts and action movie mastery without spending a single cent as 2014s The Raid 2 lands on Tubi TV this month. Directed by Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais, Arifin Putra, Oka Antara, Tio Pakusadewo, Alex Abbad, Julie Estelle, Ryuhei Matsuda, Kenichi End, and Kazuki Kitamura, it is not hyperbolic to say that The Raid 2 is a blood-drenched symphony of violence and action movie artistry that makes most other movies of the genre look like easily defeated henchmen.

A little over a year ago, Showtime announced that they were ordering a series – then known as Dexter: Origins, now known as Dexter: Original Sin – that would serve as a prequel series to their popular show Dexter, which finished its eight season initial run back in 2013, then recently came back for a new season (called Dexter: New Blood) that appeared to wrap things up, but apparently didn’t. Dexter: Original Sin went into production a few months ago, and now a first look trailer has arrived online, along with a premiere date that’s much sooner than I was expecting. The trailer can be seen in the embed above, and the premiere date is December 13th on the Paramount+ streaming service, with the Showtime premiere to follow on December 15th.

Exclusive: Amanda Brooks (Super Pumped) has been in a recurring role on the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin. Production is underway in Los Angeles with Clyde Phillips at the helm.
Brooks will portray Becca Spencer, Captain Aaron Spencer’s (Patrick Dempsey) ex-wife who shares custody of their son, Nicky. Aaron Spencer is the Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide Department who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Christian Slater).
The 10-episode original drama series is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson), a student refining his killer skills with the help and support of his adoptive father Harry. In his dad, he finds solace and understanding, especially as his bloodthirsty urges grow and can no longer be ignored.
As his only confidant, Harry teaches Dexter a code that’s designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die — all while avoiding getting caught by law enforcement.

The Nathan Fillion-led police drama remains one of ABC’s bonafide hits.
An underwhelming season finale with a questionable cliffhanger doesn’t preclude the series from being one of the best on the network.
Frankly, we can patiently wait for the writers and company to cook up a mighty fine season.
(Disney/Raymond Liu (ABC Banner))
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait quite as long as we did during last year’s strikes, but we’ll have to wait long enough.
We’ll give you more information below!!

John Wick lets his actions speak for him. His silence adds to his mysterious and captivating persona. The John Wick franchise has plenty of great quotes, but not many of them come from the main man. The John Wick franchise hangs on Keanu Reeves' portrayal of the ice-cold protagonist.
Keanu Reeves lets his fists do most of the talking in the John Wick movies, but he still has a few unforgettable quotes. John is a man of few words, which makes him a more mysterious character. The John Wick movies still have lots of great dialogue, but other characters tend to speak more than John. When he does decide to find his voice, it's almost always worth remembering.
John Wick is the embodiment of a silent antihero. He knows that actions speak louder than words, and he's powerful enough that he never needs to babble on. John has a captivating aura,...

Showtime’s Dexter returned to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night with a very special guest in tow, Michael C. Hall.
It’s not a Dexter Con without Dexter, and this evening there were two in attendance: Hall and Patrick Gibson, the latter of who plays the younger version of the former’s character in the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. Hall serves as narrator of the 90s-set series, which will premiere in December.
Additionally, Hall will star in Dexter: Resurrection, a new series that is set in present day and is a followup to the 2021 Dexter: New Blood. It will launch in summer 2025.
“It’s pretty heady,” said Hall, after receiving a standing ovation in Ballroom 20. He’s also an EP on both series. “I’m having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was … 75 years ago? It’s amazing to still be alive.

However, with this new prequel series, Original Sin, Dexter’s origin story is getting the space to breathe in order to fully flesh out the character in his early years. Following...

Some stories need lampooning. The lone hero or chosen one carves their way through an army of faceless disposable grunts, fights the final boss or touches the MacGuffin and send the whole corrupt totalitarian state, kingdom, empire or corporation crashing to the ground and frees the sheeples. That's the story Boy Kills World has in its ultraviolent sights.
Bill Skarsgård plays an unnamed boy. Deaf, mute, orphaned, he prepares to take revenge on the Van Der Koys and their brutal regime. The clichés are going to pile up like the bodies. After years of ruthless training in the ways of death by a mysterious and sexually creepy shaman (Yayan Ruhian), he is ready to be the autocrats' nemesis. It is the day of the culling, an event where Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen) picks out her enemies for public execution. The boy, accompanied by hallucinations of his murdered little.

Movies that embrace gaming elements can create a unique and immersive experience for viewers. Action films like The Raid and Edge of Tomorrow show the influence of video games on cinema. Films like Crank and John Wick adapt video game-like intensity and storytelling for the big screen.
While there have been plenty of video game movie adaptations over the years, often a movie that looks and feels like a video game without being based on one can work a lot better. This was because movies that took influence from gaming without being burdened by the expectations set by a previously established work had the freedom to embrace what they were and create something special. Many action movies could learn a lot from video games' intensity and immersive nature, and some movies have fully embraced these lessons.

Boy Kills World looked to be a cool action flick – and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said it was in his 8/10 review, where he wrote, “I had a total blast with this demented actioner.” But even with producer Sam Raimi’s name on the film, it didn’t draw in much of an audience during its theatrical run. According to The Numbers, it only made $3 million worldwide. Now it’s heading to home video, where hopefully it will have more success. My head is still spinning from everything that just transpired.
Seriously, if The Rookie Season 6 Episode 9 didn't do anything else, it would have set the stage for a positively explosive season finale.
The hour was all gas and no brakes. So many names were thrown at us that it was hard to keep up, and with so many moving pieces, it was like watching a chess championship.
Listen, we know The Rookie can do season finales right, and if this hour was any indication, we're gearing up for another epic one.
But as jampacked and head-spinning as this installment was, I'd be remiss if I didn't wonder where this was throughout the season.
The shortened seasons have been more curse than blessing for so much of the series that we've come to enjoy.
While The Rookie Season 6 has some solid episodes and the cast always rises to the occasion to entertain us,...

From 1998 to 2021, Roger won 103 men’s tennis titles — the second most behind only Jimmy Conors — including 20 Grand Slams with a record-setting eight Wimbledon championships.
