High on energy if low on credibility, “Line of Duty” stars Aaron Eckhart as a cop from Birmingham, Ala., whose day gets a lot more hectic when he’s caught up in a kidnapping whose victim is under immediate mortal threat. This latest from prolific genre helmer Stephen C. Miller is a little off-putting at times with its undercurrent of pro-police, anti-everyone-else rhetoric — though that may play well with some of the target demographic. In any case, action fans looking for a lot of forward motion could do worse than this lively, increasingly over-the-top feature-length chase. It opens Nov. 15 on U.S. screens, day-and-date with on demand.
Officer Frank Penny (Eckhart) is a street cop with a world-weary, borderline-demoralized demeanor (we don’t find out exactly why until much later), starting his day bantering with a favorite neighborhood kid (Elijah Cooper). Some blocks away, his superiors are orchestrating a trap...

"You shot the only lead that we had." Saban Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie action thriller titled Line of Duty, the latest from action director Steven C. Miller. Aaron Eckhart (who we haven't seen much recently) stars as a disgraced cop who goes rogue and finds himself in a race against time to find a kidnap victim whose abductor he accidentally killed. Also starring Courtney Eaton, Jessica Lu, Dina Meyer, with Ben McKenzie and Giancarlo Esposito. The more action movies they make, the more they start to all look the same, because they are all the same. Always about a cop or someone having to do something to rescue someone. Always. Give it a look. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Steven C. Miller's Line of Duty, direct from Saban's YouTube: Aaron Eckhart stars as Frank Penny, a disgraced cop looking for a shot at redemption.

Reverie is done at NBC.
The peacock network has swung the ax on the Sarah Shahi-fronted thriller after just one season.
Launching in May to 2.9 million viewers and a mere 0.6 rating in the demo, Reverie Season 1 went on to average 2.1 million total viewers and a 0.4 rating.
With such low on-air ratings, the show was not expected to return for a sophomore run, and the biggest surprise was that it got to air all of its episodes without being pulled from the schedule.
Related: Good Behavior Canceled at TNT
"A former detective specializing in human behavior is brought in when the launch of an advanced virtual reality program has dangerous and unintended consequences," reads the official logline.
Reverie was picked up to series in May 2017 and was considered one of NBC's more promising pilots, but the delayed launch, coupled with the lack of viewer interest is likely the biggest reasons for its demise.

NBC has opted not to renew high-concept drama series Reverie for a second season. The news is not a surprise following the series’ low-rated freshman run.

The Show | Claws
The Episode | “Til Death” (Aug. 5, 2018)
The Performance | As kooky ex-con/nail technician Polly on TNT’s delightfully ridiculous crime dramedy, Preston has always been a reliable source of space-cadet comic relief. But the Emmy winner doubled our pleasure this week by also playing Polly’s long-lost twin “sister”… and poignantly revealing the damaged soul that Polly’s sunny smile is trying so hard to hide.
When Polly discovered her foster daughter Marnie had run away to reunite with her birth mom, it sent her into a full-blown panic attack, with Preston violently gasping for air.

Last summer, the Peacock Network released a horror series, Midnight, Texas, and while it didn't burn up the Nielsen ratings, it did well enough to score a season two renewal. This time out, NBC is introducing the science-fiction TV show, Reverie. Can it lure in enough "genre" fans to earn decent ratings and earn second season pickup? Will Reverie be cancelled or renewed for season two on NBC? Stay tuned. An NBC techno-thriller, Reverie stars Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jessica Lu, Kathryn Morris, and John Fletcher. The drama centers on human behavior expert Mara Kint (Shahi), who retired from her career as a hostage negotiator, after a personal tragedy. Her old boss, Charlie Ventana (Haysbert), has now tapped Mara for a mission to save regular people who have essentially lost themselves in an immersive virtual-reality experience, which lets them live out...

In the “Black Mirror” episode “Be Right Back,” artist Martha (Hayley Atwell) makes a last-ditch effort to deal with the overwhelming grief of losing her boyfriend Ash (Domhnall Gleeson). After his fatal car accident, Martha uploads all of his social media into an AI that allows it to mimic the way he thinks, speaks, and acts. NBC’s new summer series “Reverie” also allows people to revisit loved ones via their social media footprint, although in a different setting.
While “Black Mirror” brought the AI to life into Martha’s sphere of existence first via text and phone chats and then in a bio-enhanced android, NBC’s series makes the user enter a virtual world for the reunion. Not bound by the mundane rules of physics and logic, this alternate existence allows “Reverie” to take fanciful flights that lead to exciting visual and psychological explorations.

Be careful what you wish for. That could certainly be the tagline for Reverie, debuting at 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 30.
The psychological thriller focuses on the Reverie program, which uses a client's social media to create a virtual-reality dream world.
Unfortunately, some prefer the virtual world to reality, and Charlie, head of security for Onira-tech, recruits his former co-worker, Mara Kint, to enter these dream scenarios and entice these clients out before they die in the real world.
Reverie stars Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert, Kathryn Morris, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Jessica Lu.
Ramamurthy, best known as Dr. Mohinder Suresh on Heroes, plays Paul Hammond, the groundbreaking architect of Reverie's dream world. Like all other involved with Onira-tech, Paul has his issues with which he hopes Reverie can help.
Ramamurthy talks about the Reverie program and its good and bad sides, his character, Paul, and how the show examines technological advances during...

Have a box of Kleenex handy for Red Band Society‘s two-hour series finale on Saturday (8/7c on Fox), warns executive producer Rina Mimoun — but not just to mop up tears of heartbreak.
“By the time we were writing Episode 13, while we didn’t know 100 percent that it was the series finale, Fox had indicated it was at least going to be the season finale,” she explains. “So we didn’t want to leave it on a downbeat. People come in, and people go out, but there’s always hope.”

Here's a little good news/bad news situation regarding "Awkward." When Season 4 debuts, two faces won't be returning: Ming and Collin.
When the new "Awkward" showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler spoke to Buzzfeed for the first time since taking over the MTV critical darling from creator Lauren Iungerich (who left the series in June), they revealed the casting change-up, of which one-half was deeply upsetting.
"Jessica Lu [who plays Ming] is not returning," Alberghini says. "She wanted to move on." Ming was Jenna's Bff, and for a brief time was the head of the Asian Mafia, a hilarious and quirky B story arc that will also not be returning in the new season. Her absence will definitely be missed, as she's been a major part of the series since day one.

Awkward., Season 3, Episode 20: “Who I Want to Be”
Written by Lauren Iungerich
Directed by Joe Nussbaum
Airs Tuesdays at 10:30 Pm on MTV
Jenna’s relief at her life returning to its pre-Collin stage took a sharp hit at the end of last week, as Matty clearly indicated he had moved on from their relationship. Combined with Jenna’s guilt over all the pain she had caused during her sanity sabbatical, this latest action seemed to be the universe’s way of telling her that the road to recovery was not over yet. This week’s season finale focuses on Jenna as she tries to come to terms with the changes in her life, in a strong episode that emphasizes the season’s strengths while illuminating a different side of some key characters.
It’s interesting to see Jenna reconcile with herself this week.

Airs Tuesdays at 10:30 Pm on MTV
Despite Jenna finally making positive strides towards repairing her friendships last week, the suspension and eventual firing of Valerie proved that she still had some more work left to do to right the wrongs she had perpetrated during her sanity sabbatical. This problem seemed particularly troublesome, as there was no clear way for Jenna to rectify the situation, unlike fixing the issues she had with her friends. This week focuses on Jenna’s efforts to get Valerie reinstated as prom looms large over the group, in a solid episode that closes the book on a number of storylines, while opening up some intriguing new avenues for the show to go down.
Having Bailey as a romantic rival to Jenna is a very intriguing idea.
