Instantly recognizable by his short stature, Southern drawl, and giddy personality, Leslie Jordan was an American movie and TV legend and an LGBTQ+ icon. Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jordan moved to Los Angeles where he began his career as an actor in the 1980s. He used his uniqueness to his advantage to land some truly iconic roles both on the big and small screens. Although Jordan appeared in many guest roles on TV episodes through the ‘80s and ‘90s, he really found his stride in the 2000s.
Jordan’s sudden death from a car crash caused by cardiac dysfunction in 2022 prompted a wave of grief from his fellow actors and artists in Hollywood. The outpouring of love for the comedian littered social media sites like X, including posts from celebrities like Jennifer Hudson and Mayim Bialik. The Groundlings will host an improv musical fundraising event on Oct. 26, featuring Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Bell, Kristen Wiig and Will Forte. The event, held at the Performing Arts Center at Vista Del Mar, will benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund to support below-the-line workers impacted by the strikes.
“One Night Only,” created and directed by Groundlings Main Company member Andrew Leeds, is a full production of a well-known Broadway musical. The catch? The improvisers are given the script and their roles only 24 hours in advance.
“These strikes have taken a terrible toll on our amazing crews, and it isn’t over yet. Even with the WGA strike ending, most crew members won’t be able to start work again until the SAG-AFTRA deal is ratified,” Leeds said in a statement. “Even then, many will be fighting to survive as they wait for productions to start back up.

The sitcom experienced a decrease in viewership over time, with season 3 averaging 2.2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 age group. It's been a few days since the sad news broke that Call Me Kat had been canceled after three seasons on Fox, and now, Mayim Bialik is speaking out.
“It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday….We made a lot of people laugh during Covid in ways that at first seemed impossible," Bialik wrote on Twitter.
"But with this incredible cast — Cheyenne [Jackson], Swoosie [Kurtz], Julian [Gant] and Kyla [Pratt] — and, of course, with the late Leslie Jordan, all things that seemed impossible became possible.”
Bialik went on to speak about what she envisioned happening to the characters had the show snagged a pickup for Season 4.
“Decide the ending you want, but for me, here’s where I think we all end up: Kat and Max live happily ever after, Randi and Carter get married and do the same, and Sheila is forever in everyone’s life bringing joy and wisdom,...

Fox is making its renewal and pick up decisions.
The network has canceled comedy series Call Me Kat after three seasons. The show has seen dwindling ratings, particularly in its third season.
On the comedy side, Fox still has Animal Control, which is expected to receive a second season. However, the future of Welcome To Flatch, which is in its second season, is unclear.
Call Me Kat has been paired with Animal Control and the two shows are not considered particularly compatible. Welcome To Flatch comes at an attractive price point, but the cancelation of Call Me Kat is not expected to influence Fox’s decision whether to bring it back for a third season. Finding more comedies is a priority for new head of comedy Cheryl Dolins.

Call Me Kat is adding another big name to its guest-starring roster this week.
Thursday's new episode promises to be another comical episode, and we have an exclusive first look.
Margaret Cho appears as Val, a local cat lover preparing to compete in the Pretty Kitty Cat show.
Her first meeting with Kat is anything but sweet when Val strongly implies that Kat has no chance in the competition with her cat.
"To take her mind off their breakup and Max and Zoey's (guest star Margie Mays) new successful song, Kat attends a cat show with Sheila and Randi," Fox teases of the storyline.
"Kat's competitive side is brought to life, when local cat lover Val (guest star Margaret Cho) thinks Kat and her rescue cat have no chance of bringing home a trophy."
It's a comical scene showcasing Val's tenacity to win, but Kat is not fond of being counted out.

Oddballs is a Netflix animation series written and directed by Ethan Banville and Robert James Rallison.
Oddballs is a “retro” animation series for kids of all ages, it has more jokes for adults than for kids with words like “cognitive”, “metaphor” and other “quantum subjects”: it offers what it promises as a series that does not want to stand out in its 2D animation and which focuses on the really funny dialogues and clowning, some of which is only suitable for advanced students in MIT.
A series for all of us, geeks of this world.
We deserve this!
Synopsis
James is a bubble-boy who will live a lot of funny new adventures with his two best friends.

New images from Call Me Kat season 3 reveal Vicki Lawrence as the mother of the late Leslie Jordan's character Phil. Call Me Kat, which premiered on Fox in 2021, is a remake of the British series Miranda following Mayim Bialik as Kat, a single woman in her late 30s who runs a cat café. Jordan was part of the main cast, portraying the head baker at the café until his death in a car accident this October.
This week, TV Insider shared a collection of images from the upcoming mid-season premiere of Call Me Kat season 3, which airs on January 5, 2023. The images revealed The Carol Burnett Show icon Lawrence as Phil's mother. While the plot details of the episode haven't been revealed yet, it seems that her character has joined the staff of the café, though she may not be doing a very good job given the way her co-stars are reacting to her.

A sitcom episode stretched out to snapping point, “Bar Fight!” may have made for a mildly amusing 22 minutes. But you may need a few drinks to get through the full hour and a half.
It certainly doesn’t help that there’s not a single person here worth the hang. The entire concept hinges on abrasive talent agent Nina and blandly hipsterish carpenter Allen, who have just executed the most enlightened breakup since Gwyneth and Chris consciously uncoupled. But when they unexpectedly show up at the same dive bar — the one they happily shared for five years — the gloves come off.
It’s decided that they’ll compete for custody, with one triumphantly “keeping” the bar and the other conceding defeat and moping off to another neighborhood. The staff tosses some suggestions in a Santa hat (it’s December), and the competition begins.

Many first-time directors would be first in line at the multiplex to buy a ticket to watch their movie on the big screen, but “As They Made Us” filmmaker Mayim Bialik is just wrapping a long day of shooting on her Fox sitcom “Call Me Kat.”
“I’ve been working since seven in the morning, rehearsing and rewriting,” Bialik says with a laugh as she hops on the phone with Variety on Friday afternoon. “Obviously, everybody’s been congratulating me, and [her “Call Me Kat” co-star] Julian Gant is also in the movie, so we’re both very excited. But it was just like a normal day.”
In fact, the actor, producer, writer and now director was on the way home to her sons and preparing for Shabbat with her mother Beverly. Plus, she notes, “There’s a certain level of terrified that I would be to watch it in a theater.

"I wanted to talk to you about Dad..." Quiver Dist. has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled As They Made Us, from actress Mayim Bialik making her feature directorial debut. The drama is about a dysfunctional family, starring Dianna Agron as a divorced mother of two, who is struggling to balance the dynamic forces within her dysfunctional family as she attempts to cultivate her new love. She tries to make peace with her family while on the path to a second chance at love. The ensemble cast also includes Simon Helberg, Candice Bergen, Dustin Hoffman, Justin Chu Cary, Charlie Weber, and Julian Gant. This looks like a really heavy, emotional drama that is kept afloat by love and wholesomeness. It all seems much more tender and heartfelt than I was expecting. This might be worth a watch when it opens in April. Here's the official trailer (+ poster...
