Delayed gratification is all well and good, but let’s be honest: we all prefer the instant kind, so it’s a good job that as soon as one series of Taskmaster finishes, the line-up of contestants for the following series is revealed.
Tonight’s Series 14 finale was no different, and we now know we can look forward to seeing Frankie Boyle, Jenny Eclair, Ivo Graham, Mae Martin and Kiell Smith-Bynoe doing very silly things for Alex Horne and Greg Davies in Series 15.
We’ve just said goodbye to Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chawawa, Dara Ó Briain and Sarah Millican as Series 14 reached its climax and Dara Ó Briain was crowned the Taskmaster champion. It was also the first time in Taskmaster history that there was a joint last place, with Fern Brady and John Kearns tying in fourth. You never know a person until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes, and you never know a comedian until you’ve watched them walk through a doorway in the longest shoes, hastily fashioned out of drainpipes they found in the Taskmaster shed, and then argued about with Greg Davies for points. Taskmaster is a window into the souls of our nation’s clowns, and here’s whose souls we’ll be nosying into for series 14: Dara Ó Briain, Fern Brady, John Kearns, Munya Chawawa and Sarah Millican!
(No, it’s still not Richard Ayoade. Maybe we should try a gov.uk petition.)
It’s a very solid line-up of up-and-coming comics flanked by two household name comedians, and follows on from the second Champion of Champions special and Series 13’s excellent collection of Ardal O’Hanlon, Bridget Christie, Chris Ramsay, Judi Love (Judi. Love.) and Sophie ‘Don’t call me Ducker’ Duker.

WestEnd Films has launched a global sales campaign for Guillem Morales’ (“The Miniaturist”) revenge thriller “The Duchess of Malfi,” produced by Miriam Segal’s Good Films Collective (“Postcard Killings”). Based on John Webster’s classic Jacobean play, the feature adaptation was penned by Luke Garrett (“Ruby Strangelove Young Witch”).
Casting for the period drama is led by BAFTA-nominees Morfydd Clark (“Saint Maud”) and Sam Riley (“Control”) with BIFA-nominee Dominic Cooper (“Preacher”). Equally impressive is the film’s behind-the-scenes lineup, including Academy Award-nominated DoP Pawel Edelman (“The Pianist”), BAFTA-nominated costume designer Carlo Poggioli (“Cold Mountain”), and Editor Joe Randall-Cutler (“I Hate Suzie”). Shooting will begin in November in Italy, with WestEnd set to present the film at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival virtual market.

Noel Edmonds has hosted Deal or No Deal for ten years, but he's never taken on the Banker himself - until now.
The presenter played the game for the first time to raise money for charity, winning £26,000 for Children's Hospice on tonight's (September 18) ten-year anniversary show.
Deal or No Deal is 10: And playing the game with the actual Noel Edmonds is beyond surreal
Edmonds was flabbergasted when guest host Sarah Millican made a surprise appearance and announced that it would in fact be Noel himself playing the game.
Following a tense contest with the Banker, Edmonds dealt at £26,000.
There was a twist in the tale however, when the Banker offered the presenter the chance to continue the game and gamble, with £75,000 and £3,000 left on the board.
Edmonds decided to stick with his original total, and then unfortunately discovered that he had £75,000 in his box.

After 10 years and over 2,800 episodes, the time has come for Noel Edmonds to actually play Deal or No Deal himself.

Noel had been joined by legendary Deal Or No Deal players for the special episode and believed that one of them would be chosen to take part in the game... but was surprised when he discovered that he would be the one trying to win money for charity.
Digital Spy was in the audience as comedian Sarah Millican sneaked out from the wings to deliver the news, using Edmonds' classic "Gotcha!" catchphrase against him.

Over the years the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has seen the likes of Steve Coogan, Lee Evans, Frank Skinner, Al Murray and more recently Russell Kane, Doc Brown, Bridget Christie, and David O’Doherty walk away with the the main prize; annually attacking a hotbed of comedic talent.

Past winners of the Best Newcomer award include Harry Hill, Tim Vine, The Mighty Boosh, Tim Minchin, and Sarah Millican, with 2013 Best Newcomer, John Kearns, going on to be crowned best in show just one year later.

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown will return for a new series in May and, yep, Joey Essex will be back.
Host Jimmy Carr will be back on the show alongside team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson and Countdown stars Rachel Riley and Susie Dent.
Once again, Dent will be joined in Dictionary Corner by a host of celebrities including Johnny Vegas, Joe Lycett and Nina Conti. And then there's Joey Essex - who won't be in Dictionary Corner this time, but will be helping out Riley with the letters and numbers. So that's going to go well.
The former Towie star previously appeared on the show in September, when he vowed that he could handle the Countdown clock because he's "a good counter" and strangely got confused about whether or not he was on Countdown.

The comic's 27-Hour Comedy Marathon will take place at the Pleasance Theatre in London and will be streamed simultaneously on YouTube.

Okay, so we might not be wearing our gladrags and we might not be sipping champagne, but who says a onesie and a takeaway can't be glamorous?
It's BAFTA night, and while we're not at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane with all the best and brightest from the last year of television, at least we can join the party from our sofas. Yep, we'll be blogging along with the awards - which start at 8pm on BBC One - so grab your slippers and a cuppa and join in by tweeting @digitalspy and leaving your comments below...
And as a reminder, the awards actually start in "real life" at 7pm - but we'll be doggedly going along with the television broadcast and pretending we're not an hour behind everyone else, so there's no fear of spoilers. If you want things as they happen, we'll be updating our winners' list here.

Sarah Millican may be a comedian, but she definitely didn't find anything funny about the harsh things folks had to say on Twitter about the way she looked at last year's BAFTAs. As a result, the 38-year-old penned an article about the experience for The Radio Times, and let's just say, it's pretty amazing. In the piece, Millican recalls coming home following the BAFTAs and being met with a barrage of critical tweets regarding the John Lewis dress she wore to the event. "I went to Twitter and it was like a pin to my excitable red balloon," she wrote. "Literally thousands of messages from people criticizing my appearance. I was fat and ugly as per usual. My dress (the one that...

It's just one week until the nation's biggest telly stars turn out for the TV BAFTAs, and in between prepping their acceptance speeches and practising their fake laughs for Graham Norton's opening monologue, they've also got to sort out their look for the red carpet.
Digital Spy recently attended a BAFTA showcase featuring the ceremony's official partners - House of Fraser, Mac Cosmetics, Carat* jewellery, celebrity hairdresser Mark Hill and St Tropez - for a sneak peek at this year's styles. What outfits, hairdos and makeup will the stars be rocking on the red carpet next Sunday (May 18)?
Of course, with any red carpet, the focus is on what the celebrity attendees are wearing. Backstage, it's the same story - a star's fashion choice will entirely dictate what direction the rest of the styling team go in.
"About two years ago, we did Tess Daly for the BAFTAs and she had five dresses,...

There's nothing like an awards 'do to get TV watchers all riled up - where was my favourite show? Why isn't actor X nominated? And where the heck was Insert-Name-Here?!
The Arqiva BAFTA Television Awards are no different, so following the unveiling of this year's nominations, here's just a few unloved shows and stars that were snubbed.
This year's Arqiva BAFTA Television Awards ceremony will be held in London on Sunday, May 18.
The It Crowd, Southcliffe lead BAFTA Television Awards nominations
Gillian Anderson
The Fall - up for best Mini-Series. Jamie Dornan - up for best Leading Actor. But no love for Gillian Anderson, who was so brilliantly frosty as heroine Stella Gibson?
Dornan's towering, terrifying performance as killer Paul Spector blew us away, but Anderson - a veteran of Us television who's won an Emmy and a Golden Globe - was equally impressive with a much less showy part.
