Reacher star Alan Ritchson has shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming third season of the hit Prime Video series.

On Instagram, the actor posted an image of himself covered in mud on the Season 3 set. "Welp... we're back. Season 3 of Reacher... crustier than ever," Ritchson captioned the photo. Reacher was secretly renewed ahead of its Season 2 premiere last year, with Ritchson revealing in December 2023 that production was already underway on Season 3. While plot details remain under wraps, including which Lee Child novel will be adapted, Ritchson teased that it will be another self-contained story. "[W]e get to enjoy Reacher in a new world. It may not have anything to do with family, with his past, he's just living that adventure out and that's kind of the direction that we've gone and it seems to really be working."

Frequenting pawn shops to get a change of clothing periodically, Reacher is more than happy to squat in abandoned warehouses and beat up the bad guys during the day, making sure to never leave a trace behind, or linger. However, this equilibrium is shattered when he gets an emergency-coded message from Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), who informs him that their mutual friend from the 110th Special Investigations Unit, Calvin Franz (Luke Bilyk), has been murdered.

Deciding to look into the case together, Reacher and Neagley hunt for clues to decipher the mystery behind Franz's gruesome death and come to the conclusion that all the members of the 110th are being targeted for some reason.

The popular TV series Reacher, which is based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in February 2022. The show follows Jack Reacher, a former military police officer played by Alan Ritchson, as he tries to unravel a conspiracy in a small town in Georgia. Season 2 is currently in production, and according to Deadline, Robert Patrick has been added to the cast to play a new recurring character named Shane Langston, replacing Rory Cochrane, who dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Langston is an ex-NYPD officer who now works for a defense contractor. Robert Patrick is best known for his role in the sci-fi action classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Several new cast members will also be joining the second season of Reacher. Serinda Swan, known for her role in The Inhumans, will play Karla Dixon, a member of the Army Special Investigations unit.

Alan Ritchson can be seen this summer adding his muscles to Vin Diesel’s Fast X, but the hulking actor is also back for season 2 of his breakout role in Reacher for Prime Video. According to Deadline, Ritchson is joined this season by Serinda Swan (Coroner), Ferdinand Kingsley (Sandman) and Rory Cochrane (Winning Time).

In addition, this season will also feature Domenick Lombardozzi (Magnum P.I.), along with Luke Bilyk (DeGrassi: The Next Generation), Dean McKenzie (Shooter), Edsson Morales (Black Summer), Andres Collantes (Two Sentence Horror Stories), Shannon Kook-Chun (The 100), Ty Victor Olsson (Supernatural), Josh Blacker (See), and Al Sapienza (Coroner). Maria Stren is also set to return, as previously announced, to play Frances Neagley and Shaun Sipos will play David O’Donnell.
