Charles Melton didnt start acting professionally until 2014, opting to drop out of college and move to Los Angeles to pursue a whole new career path. The former high school athlete had been interested in acting but focused on other aspects of his life. He even took a brief detour into modeling before acting, which did land him work as a model in an episode of Glee.
Since then, Melton hasnt slowed down one bit. His longest-running role has been playing Reggie Mantle on Riverdale for six seasons, but his acting roles in both TV and movies move beyond teen dramas as well. Hes proven himself an incredibly versatile performer and even earned award show buzz in 2023 after his star-making turn in the movie May December.
Note: Charles Meltons cameo appearances, uncredited work as an extra or model, and roles as himself are not included.

Love him or hate him, the polarizing force known as Logan Paul is back with his all-new sequel The Thinning: New World Order. While some fans have been waiting anxiously to enjoy the follow-up to Paul's 2016 smash hit The Thinning, others can't wait to bash it with a sledgehammer, jumping on their own Youtube channels to give the movie a wide eyed reaction in explaining how awful these movies are.
Youtube dropped The Thinning: New World Order out of the blue yesterday, which comes as the anticipated sequel to the 2016 dystopian-thriller starring Logan Paul and Peyton List. It is now available to stream on YouTube Premium in full.
In The Thinning: New World Order, Laina Michaels (List) becomes a target of Governor Dean Redding's Machiavellian presidential campaign after risking her life to expose the corruption of the thinning test, an aptitude exam administered to students in an attempt to control over-population in a dying world.

Updated throughout The Thinning: New World Order, starring Logan Paul, is now available to stream on YouTube Premium, producers have announced.
Legendary Digital Studios, YouTube Premium and Entertainment One (eOne) announced a “surprise drop” of the sequel to the 2016 thriller, though any surprise was spoiled last night by Paul, who posted a trailer on his YouTube channel.

It used to be that when actors tried their hand at directing, the movies that resulted were glorified actors’ showcases, driven by performance but scrappy around the edges. These days, though, even an actor who makes a low-budget independent feature will often use it to try to show off the intuitive reach and power of his filmmaking chops.
“Bayou Caviar,” directed and co-written by its star, Cuba Gooding Jr., is a sunlit New Orleans noir built around the grubby sleazy hook of a surreptitiously shot sex tape in which one of the on-camera participants is a 16-year-old girl. It’s also a character study built around the battle-weariness of Gooding’s Rodney Jones, a former boxing champion whose rise and fall is meant to incarnate all the ways the world conspires to keep a black man down. (The movie ends with Rodney making a highly symbolic fist.) The film is also a meditation on loyalty,...

"Great warriors pray for a life of violence..." Gravitas Ventures has debuted the official trailer for an indie titled Bayou Caviar, the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. Described as a "movie about money, sex, power, corruption - and somebody getting fed to alligators," this went under a few alternate working titles - Burbank Caviar and Louisiana Caviar - before ending up with Bayou Caviar officially. The plot involves a former boxing champ who decides to try to bring down an empire by setting up a sex tape scandal involving a real estate mogul. Cuba Gooding Jr. also stars in this, along with Famke Janssen, Richard Dreyfuss, Lia Marie Johnson, Katharine McPhee, Gregg Bello, Sam Thakur, and James Moses Black. This looks cool, but I'm notthat sure it's actually any good. Still worth a watch. Here's the first official trailer for Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Bayou Caviar,...

The content that has become available through the paid streaming subscription service YouTube Red has kicked into high gear in 2016, with original movies and TV shows flooding the platform. The latest of these – The Thinning – is released on the service on October 12th 2016, and a new trailer has been released in advance of that debut.
Written and directed by Michael J. Gallagher (Interns), and co-written by Steve Greene (Puppet Cop), this science-fiction horror film focuses on a version of the future in which authorities are taking drastic action as part of an effort to manage population control. Eligibility for continued survival is determined by the administration of a High School aptitude test – and those that fail are disposed of. Evidently, there is something of a student revolt as teenagers attempt to take on the system and save their own lives.

"Are you ready for test day?" YouTube Red has unveiled the first trailer for a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller titled The Thinning, from writer/director Michael J. Gallagher. Set in the future, the story focuses on a high school aptitude test that is used to manage the population. Two students, played by Logan Paul and Peyton List, discover the test isn't what it seems and may actually be covering up a bigger conspiracy. This sounds kind of like Logan's Run, but revised to a high school level "aptitude test". The full cast includes Lia Marie Johnson, Calum Worthy, Matthew Glave, Michael Traynor and Ryan Newman. This looks like a mix of Hunger Games and a bunch of other much better sci-fi, but that may be why it's direct to VOD. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael J. YouTube Red has released the official trailer for The Thinning, the subscription service’s first-ever feature-length thriller starring digital luminaries Logan Paul and Lia Marie Johnson. Disney star Peyton List and Stacey Dash of Clueless fame round out the cast. The trailer debuted during Tuesday’s Streamy Awards ceremony, and is currently live on Paul’s YouTube channel.
The slick trailer conjures other popular dystopian Ya films like The Hunger Games and Divergent, depicting a future in which the earth has been drained of natural resources and high school students must take an aptitude test to determine whether they will live or die in order to keep populations under control -- a process known as 'The Thinning'. When leading man Paul fails the test, however, he seems to discover that the results have been rigged, leading to an uprising of sorts.

Legendary Pictures has debuted a trailer for The Thinning. The film takes place in a dystopian future, where Us citizens must take a test. If they pass, they live. But, if they fail, they do not survive. The film was developed by director Michael Gallagher (Smiley, 2012). As well, the film stars: Logan Paul, Peyton List and Lia Marie Johnson. The first shocking trailer, for The Thinning, is hosted here. The film's trailer reveals more of the plot, compared to the official synopsis. Both items talk of a conspiracy, which targets the children of political figures. Behind all of the smoke and mirrors, corrupt forces are orchestrating events. It is amazing to see how much new media, targeting young adults, involves dystopic settings. There are no happy endings for the next generation of milennials! More on The Thinning is hosted below. Release Date: October 12th, 2016 (Youtube Red). Director: Michael Gallagher. Cast: Logan Paul,...

As it turns out, casting a bunch of social media stars in a film is a good way to ensure that film performs well on digital platforms. Expelled, which stars Vine personality Cameron Dallas as a prankster who gets kicked out of school, reached #1 on iTunes just one day after its video on-demand (VOD) release.
Expelled is produced by AwesomenessTV, which is partnered with Dallas across sites like Vine (where he has more than one billion total loops) and YouTube. Beyond Dallas, the film's cast also includes many other online media personalities, including Andrea Russett, Lia Marie Johnson, Marcus Johns, Michelle Glavan and Teala Dunn.
The film, first announced in November, was shown in theaters on December 12th and arrived on VOD platforms four days later. In the first few hours after its release, it raced up the iTunes charts, and at 8:18 Pm, Russett snapped a pic of it...

The Fine Bros will soon have a TV show credit to their name. Benny and Rafi Fine have partnered with Nickelodeon to bring the premiere episode of ReactToThat (based on their hit React YouTube series) to traditional television on December 15, 2014. In the ReactToThat TV show, celebrities and children will react to viral online videos, but with an addition not found in the Fine Bros’ digital series. The participants will be asked to partake in a challenge or showdown based on the video they just watched, such as trying to see who can clap the fastest. The premiere episode will feature YouTube fashion vlogger Bethany Mota (who’s more than content to stay on YouTube and launch fashion lines with Aeropostle), AwesomenessTV’s Lia Marie Johnson, Paris Smith of Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way, and Mace Coronel and Aidan Gallagher of the network’s Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn. At age 17, Lia Marie Johnson has already spread her creative efforts across a number of different platforms. She is known for her frequent collaborations with The Fine Bros (she is a cast member on their MyMusic web series and has participated in the Kid, Teen, and YouTuber editions of React) and her regular presence on the main channel of the AwesomenessTV YouTube channel. Her work has also recently brought her to TV; in June, she starred in a movie on Nickelodeon. In addition to all these endeavors, Johnson continues to maintain an active presence on her own YouTube channel, which just passed one million subscribers. We spoke to Lia about that part of her online video profile: Tubefilter: How does it feel to have one million subscribers? What do you have to say to your fans? At 17, Lia Marie Johnson is already a successful vlogger, web series star, and TV performer. Now, she's getting her own movie, too. Johnson will star in a feature-length TV film that will focus on her Terry the Tomboy character. Terry the Tomboy, who Johnson voices with a stereotypical Southern accent, is a character she plays on Awesomeness TV's YouTube channel. When the teen-focused network launched a weekly sketch show on Nickelodeon, Johnson brought Terry there as well, and the character has proven to be enough of a hit to warrant her own TV movie. The film, which will feature Terry's attempts to win over her crush, will be executive produced by Awesomeness TV CEO Brian Robbins. Robbins previously produced a trio of TV movies based off popular YouTube personality Fred, all of which were critically panned.

The west Los Angeles offices of AwesomenessTV saw a flurry of activity the morning CEO Brian Robbins announced his company had acquired fellow YouTube multichannel network Big Frame for $15 million. Moments after the reveal, employees' cheers erupted from his second-floor office. The April 2 deal marked a turning point for the 100-person multiplatform media firm, which produces three to five tween-skewing YouTube videos a day. The best musicians YouTube has to offer will be honored on November 3rd at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards, and AwesomenessTV is taking advantage of the preceding 'YouTube Music Week' by providing viewers with a YouTube musical spectacular. The teen-skewing network is the home of Side Effects, a TV-length musical starring some of YouTube's most talented musical creators. Side Effects sports a 40-minute runtime and features a bold combination of comedy, drama, and song. It stars Meg DeLacy as a 16-year old girl whose prescribed medication comes with a side effect of musical hallucinations, which sounds a lot better than constipation and drowsiness. Each musical number is a cover of a Top 40 hit, paying homage to YouTube's status as a haven for cover artists. The cast is full of familiar faces, including Chester See, Lia Marie Johnson, Taryn Southern, Meghan Rosette, and Vincent Cyr. Many of these stars also appear on the film's soundtrack,...

The Annoying Orange has scored solid TV ratings thanks to its popularity among a younger audience, and it looks like AwesomenessTV may find similar small-screen success. The Nickelodeon sketch show based off of the popular teen-oriented multi-channel YouTube network drew 1.7 million viewers for its debut episode, which aired earlier this week. Overall, AwesomenessTV's TV premiere drew more than 1.7 million viewers and a 0.6 rating. It performed best among 6-11 year olds, where it scored a 3.5 rating. Among the 12-17 demographic, it scored a 1.3 rating. The total viewership was only slightly better than the Full House episode that followed it; on one hand, it's disappointing to see AwesomenessTV only slightly outpace a rerun; at the same time, it scored much better numbers among the 6-11 demographic. Also, as we all know, Full House is great. For comparison, the TV debut of Annoying Orange achieved 2.6 million viewers, so AwesomenessTV is a bit behind...

Online video and web series news worth clicking today: CuteRoulette may be littered with cat videos, but we have to give it a temporary pass, as it officially sucked away at least 45 minutes of productivity out of our day. The simple creation of NYC-based firm Hard Candy Shell is so darn adorable it can even seduce an awwww out of our one-eyed janitor Lew. They had us at Monkey and Puppy (below).. [CuteRoulette] Too late for Charlie Sheen? Not for six year-olds. The Fine Brothers‘ weekly series Kids React continues to mildy abuse children today by making them watch the first Charlie Sheen interviews just a week after sitting them down for the full Rebecca Black vid. My favorite little kid in this series is easily becoming Morgan Bertsch (pictured above) who just seems to love life a little more than the others. Some of these kids even have respectable YouTube channels of their own,...
