Charles Melton didnt start acting professionally until 2014, opting to drop out of college and move to Los Angeles to pursue a whole new career path. The former high school athlete had been interested in acting but focused on other aspects of his life. He even took a brief detour into modeling before acting, which did land him work as a model in an episode of Glee.

Since then, Melton hasnt slowed down one bit. His longest-running role has been playing Reggie Mantle on Riverdale for six seasons, but his acting roles in both TV and movies move beyond teen dramas as well. Hes proven himself an incredibly versatile performer and even earned award show buzz in 2023 after his star-making turn in the movie May December.

Gravitas Ventures has debuted the official trailer for an indie titled Bayou Caviar, the feature directorial debut of Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. Described as a "movie about money, sex, power, corruption - and somebody getting fed to alligators," this went under a few alternate working titles - Burbank Caviar and Louisiana Caviar - before ending up with Bayou Caviar officially. The plot involves a former boxing champ who decides to try to bring down an empire by setting up a sex tape scandal involving a real estate mogul. Season two of the AwesomenessTV-produced thriller t@gged -- which is the fastest-growing original series on Verizon’s go90 platform -- is set to bow tomorrow. The first three episodes of season two will air at on premiere day, with subsequent installments arriving every Tuesday. The series is available on go90's desktop site as well as its mobile app.

We’ve got an exclusive first look at the psychological thriller, which follows three teenage girls who are tormented on social media by a stalker. The content that has become available through the paid streaming subscription service YouTube Red has kicked into high gear in 2016, with original movies and TV shows flooding the platform. The latest of these – The Thinning – is released on the service on October 12th 2016, and a new trailer has been released in advance of that debut.

Written and directed by Michael J. Gallagher (Interns), and co-written by Steve Greene (Puppet Cop), this science-fiction horror film focuses on a version of the future in which authorities are taking drastic action as part of an effort to manage population control. Eligibility for continued survival is determined by the administration of a High School aptitude test – and those that fail are disposed of. Evidently, there is something of a student revolt as teenagers attempt to take on the system and save their own lives.

YouTube Red has released the official trailer for The Thinning, the subscription service’s first-ever feature-length thriller starring digital luminaries Logan Paul and Lia Marie Johnson. Disney star Peyton List and Stacey Dash of Clueless fame round out the cast. The trailer debuted during Tuesday’s Streamy Awards ceremony, and is currently live on Paul’s YouTube channel.

The slick trailer conjures other popular dystopian Ya films like The Hunger Games and Divergent, depicting a future in which the earth has been drained of natural resources and high school students must take an aptitude test to determine whether they will live or die in order to keep populations under control -- a process known as 'The Thinning'. At its inaugural Television Critics Association (TCA) appearance today, YouTube announced that it has picked up rights to The Thinning -- a dystopian feature film from Legendary Digital Studios that's set to premiere on premium subscription platform YouTube Red later this year.

Starring Viner Logan Paul -- who is also featured in another YouTube Red hit, Foursome -- The Thinning will tell the story of two students in a world where population is controlled via a high school aptitude test. Paul and co-star Peyton List (of Disney Channel fame) play two students who discover a conspiracy behind the test and set off on a journey to smash the system, the Hollywood Reporter reports. Rounding out the cast in the influencer realm is Lia Marie Johnson. The Thinning was directed by Michael Gallagher, who also helmed the Shane Dawson-starring Internet Famous mockumentary, which recently debuted on Netflix.

AwesomenessTV is making the jump from digital screens to television screens. Again. The multi-channel network’s hit musical web series Side Effects will make its TV debut as a 90-minute feature film on E! on April 17, 2015.

Originally released as a long-form series on AwesomenessTV’s channel in October 2013, Side Effects tells the story of 16-year-old Whitney, who experiences musical hallucinations from the medication she’s taking to deal with the loss of her mother and the disappearance of her father. The series was a hit in its original online release and garnered over two million views in its first week on YouTube.

The social music app has teamed with Lia Marie Johnson, Alex G, and Tessa Violet for a contest that will ultimately bring talented fans onstage alongside their favorite creators.

At 17, Lia Marie Johnson is already a successful vlogger, web series star, and TV performer. Now, she's getting her own movie, too. Johnson will star in a feature-length TV film that will focus on her Terry the Tomboy character. Terry the Tomboy, who Johnson voices with a stereotypical Southern accent, is a character she plays on Awesomeness TV's YouTube channel. When the teen-focused network launched a weekly sketch show on Nickelodeon, Johnson brought Terry there as well, and the character has proven to be enough of a hit to warrant her own TV movie. The film, which will feature Terry's attempts to win over her crush, will be executive produced by Awesomeness TV CEO Brian Robbins. Robbins previously produced a trio of TV movies based off popular YouTube personality Fred, all of which were critically panned.

The best musicians YouTube has to offer will be honored on November 3rd at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards, and AwesomenessTV is taking advantage of the preceding 'YouTube Music Week' by providing viewers with a YouTube musical spectacular. The teen-skewing network is the home of Side Effects, a TV-length musical starring some of YouTube's most talented musical creators. Side Effects sports a 40-minute runtime and features a bold combination of comedy, drama, and song. It stars Meg DeLacy as a 16-year old girl whose prescribed medication comes with a side effect of musical hallucinations, which sounds a lot better than constipation and drowsiness. Each musical number is a cover of a Top 40 hit, paying homage to YouTube's status as a haven for cover artists. The Annoying Orange has scored solid TV ratings thanks to its popularity among a younger audience, and it looks like AwesomenessTV may find similar small-screen success. The Nickelodeon sketch show based off of the popular teen-oriented multi-channel YouTube network drew 1.7 million viewers for its debut episode, which aired earlier this week. Overall, AwesomenessTV's TV premiere drew more than 1.7 million viewers and a 0.6 rating. It performed best among 6-11 year olds, where it scored a 3.5 rating. Among the 12-17 demographic, it scored a 1.3 rating. The total viewership was only slightly better than the Full House episode that followed it; on one hand, it's disappointing to see AwesomenessTV only slightly outpace a rerun; at the same time, it scored much better numbers among the 6-11 demographic.
