Mickey 17 had a strong start in South Korea ahead of its global debut. The sci-fi film, directed by Bong Joon-ho, made a big splash during its opening weekend, earning $9 million in just four days.

This result came during the Independence Day holiday and made the film the top opener of the year in Korea. It also gave Robert Pattinson his biggest debut in the country to date.

The movie tells the story of Pattinson’s character, a clone who discovers he’s not human and faces the consequences of this shocking realization. It’s another mix of dark humor and social commentary, which Bong is known for in his recent films.

The defining moment of "Invincible" comes early on in the comic (and in the very first episode of the series), when superhero Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) reveals himself as a brutal invader. After killing his fellow superheroes on the Guardians of the Globe, Nolan shares the truth with his son Mark/Invincible (Steven Yeun). Nolan's people, the Viltrumites, are an empire out to conquer all life in the universe. Long ago the Viltrumites battled amongst themselves to purge their gene pool of all but the "strongest." Now they've unleashed their near-insurmountable strength of the rest of the cosmos.

It's a scary premise for an alien race, like the Saiyans from "Dragon Ball" mixed with Nazi eugenicists, or if Krypton was full of only General Zods. An evil Superman archetype like Omni-Man is not exactly a novel idea, but it's gutting here because of the personal betrayal.

The third season of Invincible is off and running on Prime Video. In the latest episode, "This Was Supposed to Be Easy," teenaged superhero Mark Grayson reunites with Titan, who used to be an enforcer for the crime boss Machine Head. Mark helped Titan take down Machine Head in the first season...but it was all part of Titan's play to replace his old boss. Mark ended that episode betrayed and beaten to a bloody pulp, as tends to happen to him. In the new episode, Mark once again entered into an alliance with Titan, this time against his better judgement. Titan was still playing his own game, but at least Mark didn't end up in the hospital this time.

In the first season, Titan was played by none other than Mahershala Ali, who is a big name even by the standards of this series; the man has won two Oscars.

As Robert Kirkman's animated superhero series "Invincible" continues to serve up new twists and turns in its third season, viewers may find themselves wondering what the heck is the deal with Viltrumites and their mustaches. All of these men are sporting some serious facial growth above their upper lip like they're Burt Reynolds smuggling a truckload of Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta. Celebrating the 80s BMX cult classic film “Rad,” the new documentary revisits production, catches up with the cast, and interrogates the film’s impact on pop culture.

Companion is an upcoming horror thriller drama film written and directed by Drew Hancock. The upcoming film is set during a weekend getaway that turns extremely bloody and violent when a human companion android malfunctions and begins killing people. Sales activity at the Berlin Film Festival and European Film Market revved up on Saturday as Sony Pictures Classics struck a deal for North American rights to Rebecca Zlotowski’s murder mystery “Vie Privée,” starring Jodie Foster.

Variety‘s Elsa Keslassy had the scoop on SPC’s deal for the film, which also covers key territories in Latin America. “Shot in Paris and Normandy, ‘Vie Privée’ is currently in post-production and will likely world premiere in the festival circuit,” Keslassy writes.

Foster, who speaks fluent French, stars in the film as renowned psychiatrist Lilian Steiner, who mounts a private investigation into the death of one of her patients after she becomes convinced that there has been a murder. Foster last starred in a French-language film 20 years ago in Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Oscar-nominated “A Very Long Engagement.” Zlotowski ranks as one of France’s top filmmakers. “Vie Privée” marks her first deal with Sony Pictures Classics.

Read Robert Kirkman's superhero comic "Invincible" now, and it's hard not to hear the character voices from the animated series. Prime Video's "Invincible" has quite the recognizable voice cast, stocked with bona fide celebrities, prolific TV actors and celebrated voice actors. Mark Grayson himself is played by Steven Yeun, whose breakout role was Glenn on "The Walking Dead," also based on a comic by Kirkman. The show's most famous performance so far is probably J.K. Simmons as Mark's superhero dad, Omni-Man. Lightning struck twice, because Simmons is as perfectly cast as Omni-Man as he was as J. Jonah Jameson in "Spider-Man." 

"Invincible" season 3 has upped the cast's ante once more, including scoring two "Breaking Bad" alums. Aaron Paul, the erstwhile Jesse Pinkman, voices Scott Duvall/Powerplex, an energy-absorbing super-villain with a grudge against Invincible. Jonathan Banks,who played Mike Ehrmantrau, has also been cast in a mystery role.

Robert Pattinson has faced vampires, dystopian nightmares, and intergalactic loneliness, but nothing compares to his latest challenge. The Batman star is diving headfirst into the sci-fi madness of Mickey 17, a film that has been five years in the making. And according to Pattinson, this one pushed him to his absolute limit.

Directed by Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho, the mastermind behind Parasite, Mickey 17 isn’t just another sci-fi epic. It’s a mind-bending story about an “expendable” — a human worker who can regenerate after death, memories intact. Pattinson leads an all-star cast, including Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. But with this role comes an exhausting twist: dying over and over again isn’t exactly easy on the body.

This isn’t Pattinson’s first rodeo with intense sci-fi.

Debates around which Batman is the best has been a hot topic in the fandom for a long time. Many hail Michael Keaton’s performance as the magnum opus of the masked vigilante on film. Others, though, prefer Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight as the best portrayal of the masked vigilante due to Christian Bale’s performance.

Invincible Season 3's remaining schedule has been confirmed on Amazon Prime Video. 

The hardcore animated superhero series, created by The Walking Dead's Robert Kirkman, is based on the graphic novel series of the same name. Invincible features an all-star cast in Season 3, with Steven Yeun returning in the lead role as Mark Grayson (aka Invincible) a teenager coming into his alien superpowers and learning how to step up as Earth's savior.

Following a ten-month wait, Season 3 of Invincible has begun on Prime Video, picking up with Mark and his friends after a time jump.

The 38-year-old actor stepped out for the premiere of his new movie Mickey 17 on Saturday (February 15) held at Berlinale Palast in Berlin, Germany.

For the premiere, Rob sported a sleek black leather coat paired with baggy black pants and black boots.

Fellow cast members in attendance included Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Anamaria Vartolomei, and Toni Collette along with director Bong Joon-ho.

Earlier in the day, the stars all attended a press conference for the new movie.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the movie: “The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.”

No matter how many times he dies, it never gets any easier, but Mickey finds solace in knowing that no matter what, he'll still wake up in the morning regardless of how brutal his demise was the day before.

You may not have noticed this unless you’ve watched his films closely, but Bong Joon Ho has a few quibbles with capitalism. It’s true! I know it can be hard to focus on subtext when the former Captain America is lamenting the fact that “babies taste best,” but watch “Snowpiercer” for a second time and you might just be able to tease out a well-sheathed critique of the social order in its story about an economically segregated train where the people in the lower classes are forced to eat each other alive while their rich overlords in the front cars are free to enjoy the eternal rewards of the locomotive’s self-perpetuating engine.

Ditto “Okja,” which hides a damning rebuke of corporate greed behind a winsome fable about a girl and her pet superpig, “The Host,” whose monster feasts on the industrialized world’s collective disregard for its most vulnerable communities,...

Action sickos and Bong Joon-heads may now rejoice. After “Parasite” gave way to six long years of famine, the Oscar-winner has returned with a feast, serving up a sci-fi spectacle bursting with enough lofty ideas and buffoonish antics to keep even the hungriest fans sated — especially if the Korean auteur goes quiet for another half-decade.

Still, those looking for more of the sublime precision of “Parasite” – or “Mother” or “Memories of Murder,” for that matter – should hope that next project is back on home-turf, for “Mickey 17” only cements the clear divide between the filmmaker’s English- and Korean-language work. In ways both figurative and literal, “Mickey 17” finds Bong Joon-ho bugging out.

That the director adapted a novel originally titled “Mickey 7” should clue you in to the gusto and abundance at play here, while rumors of the studio’s apparent befuddlement become all the more ironic given the film...

While two Mickeys may be better than one, by the time you get to seven or eight (the idea of Edward Ashton’s sci-fi novel “Mickey7”), or a number as unwieldy as 18 (the inflated figure in Bong Joon Ho’s big-screen adaptation), the prospect of an endless supply of gawping Robert Pattinson clones really starts to wear on us. The “Snowpiercer” director is back in familiar territory with “Mickey 17,” a bonkers sci-fi satire set in a grim future where Earth is no longer habitable, other planets must be colonized and the success of a four-year mission to the ice planet Niflheim depends on disposable human copies called Expendables.
