Mickey 17 had a strong start in South Korea ahead of its global debut. The sci-fi film, directed by Bong Joon-ho, made a big splash during its opening weekend, earning $9 million in just four days.
This result came during the Independence Day holiday and made the film the top opener of the year in Korea. It also gave Robert Pattinson his biggest debut in the country to date.
The movie tells the story of Pattinson’s character, a clone who discovers he’s not human and faces the consequences of this shocking realization. It’s another mix of dark humor and social commentary, which Bong is known for in his recent films.

Mickey 17 Box Office (Overseas): Saturday Update ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Mickey 17 was released in South Korea this Friday and has been performing really well. It has seen a considerable rise at the box office from its opening day and showcases a dominating presence in director Bong Joon-ho’s home country. This positive response will benefit it upon its wider release. Keep scrolling for more.
For the unversed, it is a sci-fi black comedy by the Oscar-winning director which follows Robert Pattinson in the titular role. A financially exhausted, Mickey Barnes signs up to be an expendable, disposable clone worker on the human colony Nilfheim. As an expendable, Mickey undertakes several dangerous assignments he is not expected to survive, with a new body being regenerated each time he dies. One of his clones is incorrectly assumed dead and prematurely replaced, finding his way back to the colony.

The idea of Robert Pattinson playing a dual role sounds like a lot of fun. And what’s more, it’s the long-awaited new movie from Bong Joon-Ho, the acclaimed Korean auteur who hit double jackpots for Parasite after winning Palme d’Or and multiple Oscars including the historic Best Picture victory.
But before we get to the dual Robert Pattinson playing two Mickeys, the first act focuses on how it all happens from the beginning. Adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7, Mickey Barnes has been down on his luck because of his bad investment with his so-called best friend and business partner, Timo (a sneaky Steven Yeun), leaving them heavily in debt. So, they decide to escape from the loan sharks by joining the space expedition to planet Niflheim. Led by former Trump-like politician, Kenneth Marshall (Mark Ruffalo) and his wife Ylfa (Toni Collette), the primary aim of...

This article contains spoilers for "Invincible."
A superhero is only as good as their villains. "Invincible" knows this and has produced some memorable enemies for Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) — from his own father Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), an alien invader disguised as a superhero, to dimension-traveler Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown). The sixth and latest episode of "Invincible" season 3 — "All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry" — introduces another foe worthy of Invincible, one who poses the questions that Mark needs to be asking himself.
Now, "Invincible" creator Robert Kirkman has so far failed to get Bryan Cranston on the show, but Cranston's former "Breaking Bad" co-star Aaron Paul is another story. Paul was announced to be joining "Invincible" back in January, shortly before the season premiered, and his character is Scott Duvall/Powerplex.

While Mark (Steven Yeun) and Eve (Gillian Jacobs) want a normal life, they continue to find moments when their superhero powers make it impossible. Even when they strive for a better future, the past keeps pushing their mistakes into their face. “All I Can Say is I’m Sorry” epitomizes that, proving that Mark cannot ignore what happened in Chicago. The ghosts of that event have haunted his psyche, but now, a true threat has emerged.
Invincible — “All I Can Say is I’m Sorry” — Recap
On a playground in Chicago, a young girl named Gretchen celebrates her 10th birthday. Scott (Aaron Paul) shows off his small electrical powers that get amplified as his niece punches his hands. This article contains spoilers for "Invincible."
The defining moment of "Invincible" comes early on in the comic (and in the very first episode of the series), when superhero Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) reveals himself as a brutal invader. After killing his fellow superheroes on the Guardians of the Globe, Nolan shares the truth with his son Mark/Invincible (Steven Yeun). Nolan's people, the Viltrumites, are an empire out to conquer all life in the universe. Long ago the Viltrumites battled amongst themselves to purge their gene pool of all but the "strongest." Now they've unleashed their near-insurmountable strength of the rest of the cosmos.
It's a scary premise for an alien race, like the Saiyans from "Dragon Ball" mixed with Nazi eugenicists, or if Krypton was full of only General Zods. An evil Superman archetype like Omni-Man is not exactly a novel idea, but it's gutting here because of the personal betrayal.

The third season of Invincible is off and running on Prime Video. In the latest episode, "This Was Supposed to Be Easy," teenaged superhero Mark Grayson reunites with Titan, who used to be an enforcer for the crime boss Machine Head. Mark helped Titan take down Machine Head in the first season...but it was all part of Titan's play to replace his old boss. Mark ended that episode betrayed and beaten to a bloody pulp, as tends to happen to him. In the new episode, Mark once again entered into an alliance with Titan, this time against his better judgement. Titan was still playing his own game, but at least Mark didn't end up in the hospital this time.
In the first season, Titan was played by none other than Mahershala Ali, who is a big name even by the standards of this series; the man has won two Oscars.

As Robert Kirkman's animated superhero series "Invincible" continues to serve up new twists and turns in its third season, viewers may find themselves wondering what the heck is the deal with Viltrumites and their mustaches. All of these men are sporting some serious facial growth above their upper lip like they're Burt Reynolds smuggling a truckload of Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta. It's a bold bit of grooming that's too uniform to be a mistake. Meanwhile, Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun), aka the half-human, half-Viltrumite hero Invincible, is 'stache free. Clearly, something is up.
There is, unsurprisingly, a perfectly good explanation for the Viltrumites' grooming preferences, as well as Mark's decision to go without one (though you could be excused for assuming the young man is as yet incapable of looking like 1980s New York Yankees great Don Mattingly). The short answer is that it all has to...

Thunderbolts* is shaping up to be one of the most exciting upcoming releases. The film will bring together a new team of former villains and anti-heroes, while also introducing one of Marvel’s most powerful superheroes – Sentry.
Sentry will be portrayed by Lewis Pullman, and the trailers have already teased his incredible invincibility. We also know that Sentry will likely be a manufactured hero, and we can expect the former Avengers Tower to be reimagined as his Watchtower.
Despite being one of the most popular and powerful Marvel Characters, Sentry’s creation was for a long time a complicated matter. We got big reveals and new relationships blooming last week in Invincible. Luckily, the writers get to write a more personal struggle for Mark and his team in “This Was Supposed to Be Easy,” while bringing back a Season 1 frenemy. The return of Titan is a big deal for the ground-level exploration of this world, and helps expand the lore of the gangsters in the city.
Invincible – “This Was Supposed to Be Easy” – The Recap
Titan (Todd Williams) prepares for work and walks his daughter to school. His neighborhood looks exceptionally well-kept, and the neighbors show respect to Titan as he walks down the road. He’s interrupted by Isotope (Chris Diamantopoulos), who tells Titan there’s a problem.
At the prison, Multi-Paul (Simu Liu) creates dozens of copies of himself to break his cell door. Many of his copies are crushed to death as he continues to create his copies,...

Signing under the name ‘Zucheros,’ the husband-wife duo of Andy and Sam Zuchero explores what it means to ‘have a life’ in their widely inventive feature debut, “Love Me.” Starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, the cosmic love story between two machines mulls over the origin of identity, and thus humanity. The fertile imagination of the duo, who wrote and directed the film, with some formidably beautiful space cinematography, makes “Love Me” an intriguingly zany watch. Amidst the growing concern over AI replacing the human touch in art, it is radical from the Zucheros to find that touch through a never-decaying romance between two machines.
Love Me (2025) Movie Synopsis and Plot Summary:
It is beyond the 2050s. The opening conversation between our two unlikely heroes establishes that humanity ceases to exist. Earth is abandoned. A frozen weather buoy, a ‘Smart’ version of its kind, melts and awakens. It notices a...

We met "Bob" twice in two Thunderbolts* trailers. While many Marvel Comics fans know a handful of anecdotes about Robert Reynolds, we know even less about "The Sentry."
And then, there's "The Void," which, if most fans are honest, is still a mystery.
If this makes sense, The Sentry is a persona from deep within Bob, thanks to the Golden Sentry Serum mutating his genetic code to something remarkably closer to Kryptonian. Yet, The Void is a persona of The Sentry, not Robert Reynolds. And it is one of the most malevolent forces in the known universe.
Villains are bad. Some are fierce. But The Void is no holds barred evil and he stops at nothing to protect The Sentry. Marvel defines this halfway split like this: "The Void believes he is integral to the Sentry's survival. As the Sentry's power hinges on his emotions, any individual could crush him...

Is Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 gaining traction among fans? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Robert Pattinson and Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 is just around the corner and generating its fair share of buzz thanks to a completely never-before-seen comic side of the former’s acting career.
So far, the sci-fi comedy has received substantial positive reviews, highlighting the severity of the renaissance the Twilight actor has been reveling in for almost the last eight years. But where exactly does it rank in the actor’s filmography? Rotten Tomatoes has the answer.
Mickey 17 had its debut at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where it did not make an impact, though critics worldwide have since hailed it — evident by its 86% “fresh” Rotten Tomatoes score based on 28 reviews and a rating of 7.9/10. It also holds a strong Metacritic score of 74.

Sales activity at the Berlin Film Festival and European Film Market revved up on Saturday as Sony Pictures Classics struck a deal for North American rights to Rebecca Zlotowski’s murder mystery “Vie Privée,” starring Jodie Foster.
Variety‘s Elsa Keslassy had the scoop on SPC’s deal for the film, which also covers key territories in Latin America. “Shot in Paris and Normandy, ‘Vie Privée’ is currently in post-production and will likely world premiere in the festival circuit,” Keslassy writes.
Foster, who speaks fluent French, stars in the film as renowned psychiatrist Lilian Steiner, who mounts a private investigation into the death of one of her patients after she becomes convinced that there has been a murder. Foster last starred in a French-language film 20 years ago in Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Oscar-nominated “A Very Long Engagement.” Zlotowski ranks as one of France’s top filmmakers. “Vie Privée” marks her first deal with Sony Pictures Classics.

Stars: Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Holliday Grainger | Written and Directed by Bong Joon Ho
Writer-director Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer) returns to futuristic sci-fi for this space exploration thriller based on the 2022 novel by Edward Ashton (entitled Mickey7). As such, it’s not without its flaws, but it’s still a lot of fun, thanks to its gleefully bonkers premise and pair of committed central performances from Robert Pattinson.
Set in the distant future, the film centres on Mickey Barnes (Pattinson), a spaceship worker who has been designated an “expendable”, so-called because his body can be re-printed and his memories restored if he dies, which he does, a lot. While on a mission to colonise a remote ice planet, Mickey’s 17th iteration (known as Mickey 17) falls down a crevasse and is presumed dead, so when he miraculously survives and returns to base camp, he...

Read Robert Kirkman's superhero comic "Invincible" now, and it's hard not to hear the character voices from the animated series. Prime Video's "Invincible" has quite the recognizable voice cast, stocked with bona fide celebrities, prolific TV actors and celebrated voice actors. Mark Grayson himself is played by Steven Yeun, whose breakout role was Glenn on "The Walking Dead," also based on a comic by Kirkman. The show's most famous performance so far is probably J.K. Simmons as Mark's superhero dad, Omni-Man. Lightning struck twice, because Simmons is as perfectly cast as Omni-Man as he was as J. Jonah Jameson in "Spider-Man."
"Invincible" season 3 has upped the cast's ante once more, including scoring two "Breaking Bad" alums. Aaron Paul, the erstwhile Jesse Pinkman, voices Scott Duvall/Powerplex, an energy-absorbing super-villain with a grudge against Invincible. Jonathan Banks, who played Mike Ehrmantrau, has also been cast in a mystery role.

Here’s Why We Think Mickey 17 Is Robert Pattinson’s Most Physically Demanding Role ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Robert Pattinson has faced vampires, dystopian nightmares, and intergalactic loneliness, but nothing compares to his latest challenge. The Batman star is diving headfirst into the sci-fi madness of Mickey 17, a film that has been five years in the making. And according to Pattinson, this one pushed him to his absolute limit.
Directed by Oscar-winner Bong Joon-ho, the mastermind behind Parasite, Mickey 17 isn’t just another sci-fi epic. It’s a mind-bending story about an “expendable” — a human worker who can regenerate after death, memories intact. Pattinson leads an all-star cast, including Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. But with this role comes an exhausting twist: dying over and over again isn’t exactly easy on the body.
This isn’t Pattinson’s first rodeo with intense sci-fi.

Debates around which Batman is the best has been a hot topic in the fandom for a long time. Many hail Michael Keaton’s performance as the magnum opus of the masked vigilante on film. Others, though, prefer Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight as the best portrayal of the masked vigilante due to Christian Bale’s performance.

There are, however, though fewer in numbers, fans who believe Ben Affleck had been the best of them all in Zack Snyder’s DC saga. Interestingly, after an old clip of Affleck’s performance recently went viral on social media, more and more fans seemingly agree with that sentiment.
However, they also think that Snyder made a mistake with his Batman direction without which, Ben Affleck would unanimously be hailed as the best Batman among all.

The Berlin Film Festival got a double dose of Robert Pattinson with the premiere of Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17” on Saturday night. And the actor — who plays an explorer and his clone in this trippy sci-fi adventure — managed to at least double the cheering inside the theater after the film’s credits rolled.
“Mickey 17” received one of the most enthusiastic receptions at the festival so far. The crowd at the Berlinale Palast Theater showered Bong’s latest parable with a standing ovation that only lasted for one minute but would have gone on longer if not for an interruption. Berlin’s new chief Tricia Tuttle stopped the cheering to bring Bong onstage for a brief Q&a.
“I was so fascinated by the concept of human printing,” Bong said to the audience, expressing relief that they stayed through the end of the 137-minute film. “Mickey 17,” which...

It has been five years since Bong Joon Ho won three Oscars for Parasite, shocking the industry and bringing the cult auteur into the Hollywood mainstream. Finally, the South Korean filmmaker has returned with his biggest project yet: Mickey 17, the long-delayed science-fiction movie that Warner Bros. will release in theaters on March 7. The movie debuted to solid reviews on Saturday at the Berlin Film Festival.
Set in the near future, Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson as the title character and his several other versions. What's it feel like to die?
Through curious eyes as wide as saucers and nervous smiles hiding from beneath pinched lips, just about everyone on the colonizer ship heading to Niflheim has asked this question to Mickey Barnes — or one of the many human printings of him — much to his chagrin. No matter how many times he dies, it never gets any easier, but Mickey finds solace in knowing that no matter what, he'll still wake up in the morning regardless of how brutal his demise was the day before.
After some risky financial dealings with loan sharks inspire Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) and his business partner Berto (Steven Yeun) to escape Earth to avoid being killed by the shark's heavies, Berto quickly finds a gig as a pilot, while Mickey volunteers to be an "expendable," or a person who will tackle suicide missions in the name of science for...

You may not have noticed this unless you’ve watched his films closely, but Bong Joon Ho has a few quibbles with capitalism. It’s true! I know it can be hard to focus on subtext when the former Captain America is lamenting the fact that “babies taste best,” but watch “Snowpiercer” for a second time and you might just be able to tease out a well-sheathed critique of the social order in its story about an economically segregated train where the people in the lower classes are forced to eat each other alive while their rich overlords in the front cars are free to enjoy the eternal rewards of the locomotive’s self-perpetuating engine.
Ditto “Okja,” which hides a damning rebuke of corporate greed behind a winsome fable about a girl and her pet superpig, “The Host,” whose monster feasts on the industrialized world’s collective disregard for its most vulnerable communities,...

Action sickos and Bong Joon-heads may now rejoice. After “Parasite” gave way to six long years of famine, the Oscar-winner has returned with a feast, serving up a sci-fi spectacle bursting with enough lofty ideas and buffoonish antics to keep even the hungriest fans sated — especially if the Korean auteur goes quiet for another half-decade.
Still, those looking for more of the sublime precision of “Parasite” – or “Mother” or “Memories of Murder,” for that matter – should hope that next project is back on home-turf, for “Mickey 17” only cements the clear divide between the filmmaker’s English- and Korean-language work. In ways both figurative and literal, “Mickey 17” finds Bong Joon-ho bugging out.
That the director adapted a novel originally titled “Mickey 7” should clue you in to the gusto and abundance at play here, while rumors of the studio’s apparent befuddlement become all the more ironic given the film...

While two Mickeys may be better than one, by the time you get to seven or eight (the idea of Edward Ashton’s sci-fi novel “Mickey7”), or a number as unwieldy as 18 (the inflated figure in Bong Joon Ho’s big-screen adaptation), the prospect of an endless supply of gawping Robert Pattinson clones really starts to wear on us. The “Snowpiercer” director is back in familiar territory with “Mickey 17,” a bonkers sci-fi satire set in a grim future where Earth is no longer habitable, other planets must be colonized and the success of a four-year mission to the ice planet Niflheim depends on disposable human copies called Expendables.
Pattinson has traversed deep space before, doing so in Claire Denis’ relatively elegant arthouse feature “High Life.” Here, the star dumbs it down to suit Bong’s big-budget grunge-topian vision, playing a sucker so desperate to escape a ruthless loan shark...

Although it is science-fiction to its core, director Bong Joon Ho’s first film since his Oscar-winning Parasite six years ago is in many ways a not-that-absurd look at where we just might be headed as a society.
Mickey 17 is on its surface about a hapless, slightly less than average macaroon chef who no longer can take Earth and its ever-so-decaying condition that has led thousands daily to board a spaceship to a more promising planet life — or so they think. Nevertheless, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) is just a guy whose life is seen as expendable (a word he uses on his application), and like a lab rat, his new day job is — wait for it — dying. Yes, Mickey is part of constant experiments to help researchers see what causes death and disease, and so he is put through the ringer and reprinted repeatedly, dying over and over again,...

Historical dictators and the voice of Steve Buscemi proved major inspirations for sci-fi feature Mickey 17, according to director Bong Joon Ho and star Robert Pattinson.
Speaking at the Berlinale press conference for the film, Oscar-winning Korean filmmaker Bong addressed a question that the megalomanic dictator played by Mark Ruffalo – complete with beaming-white teeth and a notable accent – may have been inspired by US president Donald Trump.
“Mark Ruffalo is a character who embodies the dictators of the past that we’ve experienced,” said Bong. “This is how I came up with this character. He has, in a comical way,...

Multi-Oscar-winning South Korean director Bong Joon Ho glided into the snow-blanketed Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday to unveil his long-in-the-making sci-fi feature Mickey 17 — and it wasn’t long before the international media in the German capital probed the auteur about the relevance of his new movie to the world’s politically fraught present. Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson as a down-and-out space colonist living in a high-tech dystopia overseen by a dictator played by Mark Ruffalo with signature relish.
“Some of the people I took as a reference were some of Korea’s bad leaders of the past, or dictators from elsewhere, but I didn’t use any actual politicians from today,” Bong said in response to a journalist’s question about whether some of Ruffalo’s flamboyant gestures were intended as a reference to President Doland Trump. “I created this character in a comical way by drawing inspiration from past figures,...

Director Bong Joon Ho, actor Robert Pattinson and fellow cast members were on hand today in Berlin to introduce the German premiere of their new sci-fi Mickey 17.
Adapted from Edward Ashton’s 2022 sci-fi novel of ‘Mickey 7’, Mickey 17 revolves around a directionless man living in a near future who signs up for a job as an “expendable”, or disposable employee sent on dangerous missions who is automatically regenerated if he perishes on the job. Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo also star.
Pattinson said it was “incredible” to work with Bong who he described as “a master”: “Bong is a Mount Rushmore director for me”, he noted. Oscar nominee Colette added that it was the first time in her career she had said yes to a movie before even reading the script.
Bong’s first feature since his 2019 Cannes Palme d’Or and quadruple Oscar winner Parasite,...
