
Not all anime need more than twelve episodes to tell a story. Some, despite their short length, manage to portray beautiful stories of any genre with limited episode counts. These anime prove that it's not the number of episodes that matters, but rather the quality of these episodes.
Nearly all anime genres have at least a few series where there are only twelve episodes. Even so, the series' characters can still experience layered growth and development, while the plot naturally progresses and culminates in a satisfying ending. A few anime may have sequel seasons on the horizon, but for the time being, these are accomplished anime with only a dozen episodes to their names.

Netflix has finally confirmed a new Cyberpunk anime is in the works, bringing back the franchise after two whole years. Ever since Cyberpunk: Edgerunners first aired in September 2022, fans of the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise have been begging for more and Netflix's new project with CD Projekt Red will finally expand on Cyberpunk's universe.
Netflix recently announced a new animation project in collaboration with CD Projekt Red set in the Cyberpunk universe. The announcement was originally made at Netflix's Geeked Week event along with a new teaser video. Not many details have been revealed about the project just yet but the announcement video posted to YouTube and Netflix's other social media platforms teases "a return to Night City."

Cyberpunk 2077 game developer and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series producer CD Projekt has confirmed plans for more animated projects set within the Cyberpunk universe.
Via IGN, CD Projekt Red (Cdpr) held an earnings call on Aug. 28, when it was asked about building portfolios within pop culture and a possible sequel to the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, which it co-produced with Studio Trigger. "Yes, we are planning, of course, to have more in the flywheel of pop culture. This is very much in our interests," CEO Micha Nowakowski said. "When it comes specifically to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners having a continuation, I'd rather bring back the words I said before, which is, 'We are definitely planning to do more in terms of animation with Cyberpunk, so I hope that's enough as an answer. So, expect to see more for sure, but that's as far as I can go right now."

Anime is a vast medium that features themes and genres of all kinds, and since its conception, it’s never shied away from using violence and graphic imagery to tell its story. Some of the most iconic series of all time showcase a darker storyline and violent action that’s both exciting and compelling. The 2020s have seen a definite boost in this genre, with more brutally grim titles coming out than ever before.

They shock and disturb with harrowing fight scenes, gut-wrenching deaths, and emotional character arcs that bring a tear to the eye. Such titles certainly aren’t for everyone, but nevertheless, they’ve easily topped charts as some of the best of the decade, proving their overall appeal.
