Last year, we heard that Spyder Dobrofsky – who worked on the scripts for such flicks as The Housewives of the North Pole and One Christmas Wish, as well as Mom’s Day Away, and made his feature directorial debut with the mystery thriller Spiral – was making a holiday horror movie called Down Below. That movie made its way out into the world back in October (you can check it out on Amazon), and now it has been announced that Dobrofsky is following it up with a creature feature called The Weeping! Lindsey Shaw (Ned’s Declassified), Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect), Reggie Lee (Tropic Thunder), Chris Zylka (The Amazing Spider-Man), Shoshana Bush (On My Block), and Hutch Dano (Zombeavers) have signed on to star in the film, which heads into production next month.

Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled Down Below, the latest from filmmaker Spyder Dobrofsky. This hasn't played at many festivals and will be dumped on VOD this fall in time for horror season. On the 20th anniversary of the gruesome Christmas Eve murders at St. Agnes church, a demonic preacher returns to haunt that same town's residents. Together and apart, two innocent residents are forced to face their own demons as well as a real one, who goes by the name of Mr. Monday. A gripping psychological horror movie with a shocking plot twist, this one stars Eric Roberts, Doug Jones, Bai Ling, Alexis Knapp, Hutch Dano, Christopher Livingston, and Greg Kriek. It has a wildly impressive cast for a film going direct-to-vod, but this looks very cheap and cheesy and just plain bad.

Review: Hutch Dano is the grandson of legendary character actor Royal Dano and the son of actor Rick Dano, so it’s no surprise that he got into acting himself. Raekwon of the Grammy-nominated hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan is set to executive produce a new documentary short spotlighting the life of disco superstar Richie Weeks.

“Taking Back the Groove” will showcase the trials, tribulations and success stories of Week’s life. Per the doc’s official logline, “like many Black artists throughout American recording history, his talent was strip-mined to enrich white-owned record labels. Nine years ago, Cortney Palm and Hutch Dano starred in Zombeavers, a horror comedy that got a good amount of attention because – as the title gives away – it happened to be about zombie beavers. Now Palm and Dano have reunited for the horror film As Certain as Death, which will be receiving a VOD release in the United States on July 11th. Coming soon from High Stake Entertainment, Eric Roberts has been set to star in Down Below, a horror movie set on Christmas Eve. Deadline first reported the news this afternoon.

Epic Pictures and Dread will release the latest Bigfoot thriller, titled Hoax. This indie horror film will come out this August. And, the film was directed and written by Matt Allen. The cast includes: Adrienne Barbeau (Escape from New York), Hutch Dano (Zombeavers), Matt Reidy (The Judge), Anthony Ray Parker (The Matrix) and many more. In the story, an investigative team goes in search of evidence, after a group of campers are mysteriously murdered. Now, this team might be the next victims. Jon and James Kondelik are finishing production on Behind the Walls. This horror film looks through the eyes of a different sort of character, a malicious home. It’s so hard to tell nowadays what kind of film you are going to get by just looking at the solitary picture and the synopsis. I seldom ever rely on the number of stars that it has, because someone else’s trash just might be my treasure. Back in the video store days, there were absolutely no guarantees even by looking at the videocassette box, but I guess that I just had a false sense of security that I could make a more informed choice. I’m slowly letting go, and just going with straight up intuition.

This week, we’ve got an insane amount of horror and sci-fi home entertainment choices getting released on Tuesday, including the latest from Scream Factory, Stigmata, and Kino Lorber is bringing us another Mario Bava cult classic to high-def in the form of Evil Ey,e and the recent horror comedy Zombeavers is looking to make a splash on DVD as well.

Anchor Bay is also unleashing The Vatican Exorcisms on May 19th and Olive Films is bringing a double dose of classic terror to Blu-ray with their releases of Peter Benchley’s Creature and It! The Terror from Outer Space. Indie horror fans have a ton of titles this week arriving on DVD to choose from and we’ve also got new high-def releases for both Poltergeist sequels and Terminator 2: Judgment Day too.

To prematurely write off Zombeavers would be an easy task based on the numerous trailers featuring zombified beaver puppets who growl angrily at the camera, as the footage suggests a watch that takes B-Movie stupidity to realms yet unexplored. Who needs a bunch of undead beavers thwapping their tails against the ground while they’re trying to gnaw through a group of drunken fratheads and their sorority babes? Pointless nudity, radiated beaver dams, filthy double entendres, goofy creature work – do horror fans really need to be subjected to such an untamed zombie/animal hybrid?!

In an early Afm deal, Freestyle Releasing and Freestyle Digital Media announced today that they have acquired theatrical and VOD rights to the highly-anticipated horror-comedy Zombeavers, which was directed by Jordan Rubin from a script he wrote with Jon and Al Kaplan.

The film stars Rachel Melvin, Cortney Palm, Jake Weary, Lexi Atkins, Peter Gilroy, and Hutch Dano and was produced by Evan Astrowsky, Chris Lemole, Tim Zajaros, Jake Weiner, Jc Spink and Chris Bender.

It’s difficult enough to survive an onslaught of living dead humans, but perhaps even trickier is going up against a batch of furtive beavers after they’ve been exposed to toxic waste that turns them into flesh eating animals. In Jordan Rubin’s horror-comedy Zombeavers, three women and their friends strive to survive these carnivorous creatures, and we now know when Us audiences can see these living dead lake dwellers.

Variety recently reported that Zombeavers was acquired by Freestyle Releasing and Freestyle Digital Media at the American Film Market. Zombeavers will be unleashed in theaters and VOD on March 20th.

For many horror fans, zombie movies have become too prevalent in the independent horror cinema landscape. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that the mere mention of the subgenre makes many cringe. For whatever reason, filmmakers working with a restricted budget seem to think that their best option is to try their hand at making a film that, by it’s very definition, usually requires some sort of elaborate special effects. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. Last year’s zombie film, The Battery, did a great job on super-tight budget. But that is not the standard, so you can imagine how I felt when I heard that Zombeavers was going to be a real thing…

Seriously. Do I have to lay out the plot of a film called Zombeavers? It features zombie beavers. What else do you need to know? Oh well, here goes: Three college friends decide to spend the weekend at a riverside cabin in the woods, man free, after one of the trio splits up with her boyfriend. However the boys see things differently and invite themselves on the trip in the hopes of having a debauched weekend filled with sex and booze. Little do the group know, they are right next door to a lodge of beavers who have been mutated, by an accidental toxic waste spill, into rabid zombeavers.

See, did I really need to explain that? Kids go woods. Kids get dead.

Zombeavers has taken a bite out of the market as Epic Pictures heads Patrick Ewald and Shaked Berenson announced a slew of deals.

The horror comedy received its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last month after the trailer went viral, generating more than 2.5m hits.

Rights have gone to Benelux and German-speaking Europe (Splendid Films), Spain (A Contracorriente Films), France (Zylo), Australia and New Zealand  (Roadshow) and the Middle East (Prime Pictures).

Epic is understood to be closing a multi-territory deal with a major distributor for the UK, Scandinavia, Latin America and Eastern Europe excluding Russia and a pan-Asian pay-tv deal with a studio.

Negotiations are ongoing for Russia, Taiwan and South Korea.

This is a movie about zombie beavers, and beaver zombies. What more, exactly, do you need to know? With Zombeavers, director Jordan Rubin and writers Al and Jon Kaplan have made an irreverent, low-budget spectacle in the tradition of horror comedies like Sharknado and Piranha 3D. Zombeavers. It’s all in the title. And given that such a title excites us here at Dread Central (but not in a necrophilia-bestiality kind of way, we promise), we figured it was high time to sit down with director Jordan Rubin to get the skinny on his upcoming horror-comedy feature.

Starring Cortney Palm (Sushi Girl), Hutch Dano (Zeke and Luther), Peter Gilroy, Rachel Melvin (Dumb and Dumber To), Jake Weary, Lexi Atkins, and Bill Burr, Zombeavers was written by Jon Kaplan, Al Kaplan, and director Rubin.

It revolves around three college girls who go on a carefree vacation of drinking games, topless sunbathing, and sexual exploration, only to find that their frolicking fun comes to an abrupt end when toxic zombie beavers try to eat them.

Hailing from the producers of American Pie, Cabin Fever, and The Ring, Jordan Rubin's horror comedy Zombeavers is heading to Efm with Epic Pictures Group so they've released an official trailer and new artwork. Check 'em out!

Squires brought Zombeavers to our attention last summer when he wrote about Rubin's journey to get the film made, and now it's all paying off.

If Epic has similar success at Efm with how things turned out for Big Ass Sprider!, we should be getting all the official details in a press release, but in the meantime, IMDb lists Bill Burr, Cortney Palm, Rachel Melvin, and Hutch Dano as the primary cast members.

The European Film Market will be showing hundreds of films this year, throughout the month of February. One of the horror titles in appearance is the hilariously titled Zombeavers. This film crosses a plague with these vicious aquatic mammals. From the producers of American Pie and Red Eye (Chris Bender, J.C. Spink), a trailer is available for Zombeavers. The feature film behind the punny portmanteau is currently being shopped at the European Film Market in Berlin. The boys and girls of White Collar are riding a hot streak to start season three. Seriously, there hasn’t been a bad episode in the lot. Last night’s “Scott Free” was another dry-cleaned, neatly pressed, and finely detailed episode of White Collar. And if you haven’t caught a single episode, then you need to change your wardrobe. When faced with a younger version of himself, our favorite con, Neal Caffery (Matt Bomer) is forced to consider if his allegiances are to his work at the White Collar Division of the FBI or his trade as a conman. Hutch Dano guest-starred as Scott, a young con who has integrated some modern trades to steal high-priced items from the rich and then make a donation in that person’s name to charity. In his mind, it justifies the crime and it’s his way of suggesting to them ways...

As the new season of 'White Collar' gets underway it's been announced that three more actors have booked guest spots on the series.

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter' 'Gossip Girl' alums Mädchen Amick and Robert John Burke, plus Amick's 'Twin Peaks' co-star Dana Ashbrook, will all be stopping by the F.B.I. dramedy this summer.

Amick will play "sultry femme fatale" Selena Ellis in the episode titled 'Veiled Threat' airing July 5. Selena's suspected of marrying wealthy men for money, and the real question is: Will she catch Neal's (Matt Bomer) eye?

Ashbrook will guest star on the July 12 episode, 'Scott Free,' together with Hutch Dano ('Zeke and Luther'). He'll play Carlisle, a status-conscious millionaire playboy "who loves to spend big bucks on extravagant, over-the-top objects."

Disney Xd's Zeke and Luther may be known for skateboarding and lots of silly gags, but star Adam Hicks, who plays Luther, says Season 3 will have more in-depth story lines and a little bit of romance.

"In Season 3, I have this crush on this girl who works at Don's Donuts and Zeke (Hutch Dano) has this crush on a pageant girl," the 18-year-old actor tells TVGuide.com.

Production on Season 3 is slated to begin production in the fall in and around Southern California. Three days shy of its U.S. release, "Ramona and Beezus" has been premiered in New York City on Tuesday, July 20. Selena Gomez and Joey King who bonded when portraying the Quimby sisters in the film showed their off-screen chemistry when attending the special screening at Madison Square Park.
