The Joker's scars in an Earth-3 origin story turned him into a hero, inspired by humiliating Owlman. Owlman scars Jokester after being mocked, inadvertently creating a hero instead of a villain. Jokester's transformation from comedian to hero due to being scarred by Owlman on Earth-3 is a great reversal of the Joker's usual origin.
The Joker has one of the most iconic looks in comics with his pale white skin, bright green hair, and red lips. Depending on the interpretation, he also has scars that force his terrifying smile. Because the Joker rarely has a set backstory, the source of these scars is intentionally left a mystery but in one universe, these scars are what set the Joker on a path to being a hero.
On Earth-3, the alignment of every character is swapped. Instead of Batman and Superman being heroes and members of the Justice League, they're instead...

The following contains spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, in theaters now.
Ever since the film was announced, fans anticipated seeing several cameos in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. These include variants of Spider-Man previously seen in the first movie, as well as brand-new takes on the Wall Crawler. Of course, Spidey's enemies get in on the multiversal mix, too, namely one from an old-school cartoon classic.
Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends might not be the deepest Spider-Man cartoon ever produced, but its popularity has transcended generations and been fairly influential on the hero. One way in which it's impacted him is by adding the rather ridiculous villain, "Videoman," to his rogues' gallery. For as dated and retro as he may seem, this foe makes a named appearance in Across the Spider-Verse. Here's how the old-school cartoon character levels up to the big screen.

Gravitas Ventures has obtained the North American rights Machine, a documentary about the rise of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning from I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead filmmaker Justin Krook. Set for an on-demand release on September 8, the James Maclurcan and Luke Mazzaferro-written film travels from Japan, Germany, America, Australia, and the United Nations in Geneva featuring inventors, engineers and thought leaders as they tackle the myriad of ethical dilemmas this radical new technology brings. Michael Hilliard and Luke Mazzaferro produced the pic via Australia-based production company Finch in association with Supper Club. Finch’s Rob Galluzzo, Supper Club’s David Gelb, Jason Sterman, Brian McGinn, and Sean Mckeever and Nick Cleaver served as executive producers. Endeavor Content negotiated the deal with Tony Piantedosi, Vice President of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.

Another year in the books, another batch of incredible comics for you to read! These are the best comics of 2018.
Comics, like all art, can be a mirror on society or a safe harbor from its worst tendencies, and thankfully again in 2018, we got some incredible books this year. I’ve been watching our pull lists since the calendar flipped in January, keeping an eye out for the best comics to share with you, and we’ve finally cut it down to just 10. But first, a few honorable mentions.
Yoshitoki Oima’s To Your Eternity was probably the best new manga I read this year, but I kept it off the list because as good as the newest volumes are, the first one is stellar and it was published too early. Transformers: Unicron is a great way to end a fascinating era of Transformers comics, one that...
