On its surface, Lake George is a crime thriller -- but that's just barely scratching the surface of the movie. Marvel fan-favorite Shea Whigham and The White Lotus Season 3 star Carrie Coon are fantastic in the film, which is actually more of a buddy comedy slash road trip picture that happens to have a criminal element. It's a truly unique picture, and the biggest reason why is the flawless chemistry between its two stars.
In an interview with Cbr for the home video release of Lake George, Coon and Whigham talked about what brought them both to the movie. They also revealed just how much went into filming, from the development of their characters to the actual shoot. The production of the film is almost as interesting as the movie itself, and the actors explain what they love about the finished product.

Shea Whigham and Carrie Coon have been two of the ever-reliable actors for a long time. They have shined in many projects that were rarely the zeitgeist from those times. ‘Lake George’ (2024) offers them to be the dynamic central pair as versions of the classic runaway duo, ‘Bonnie and Clyde’. However, unlike the 1967 film, this crime thriller is far more grounded. It isn’t about an angry young man rebelling against the world. Instead, it’s about a middle-aged man, coping with past regrets, and hoping for a fresh start. In his journey for mere survival, he faces unusual problems.
The film’s protagonist, Don (Shea Whingham), returns from his long term in prison. Now fairly old, he struggles to find work or even a friendly face. His past friends and family ignore him. While some of them are dead, he is dead for the others. He is jaded and has nothing to return to.

Lake George is an example of a crime drama with a welcome dash of offbeat comedy. It’s less of the former and more of the latter. Written and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, the dark comedy neo-noir is a breath of fresh air at points, and a recycled crime thriller at others. What keeps it going is its oddball sense of humor and the winning pair of Shea Whigham and Carrie Coon, who are delightful and perfect together onscreen. Lake George is very much the epitome of the journey being more important than the destination.
Lake George follows a recently released white-collar criminal tasked with a difficult assignment by his boss: to eliminate the boss's girlfriend before she can expose secrets. As a narrative of crime and morality unfolds, the protagonist confronts the challenge of navigating this perilous situation.

Shea Whigham and Carrie Coon are back together in another noir-influenced dark comedy in Lake George. The latter found her on-screen breakout with the Damon Lindelof-co-created supernatural drama The Leftovers and the movie adaptation of Gone Girl, following it up with celebrated turns in everything from Steven Spielberg's The Post to the most recent Ghostbusters sequels and HBO's The Gilded Age. Whigham has been a supporting player in a number of acclaimed projects over the years, including the most recent Mission: Impossible movies, Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and Fast & Furious, while also getting lead roles in Boardwalk Empire, Waco and HBO's Perry Mason reboot.

Do you sometimes feel like The Walking Dead takes itself too seriously? Do you wish the hit AMC horror series had more laughs? Well, then there is a movie made just for you! The Walking Deceased takes on Rick and his gang of survivors to offer a parody of his hardships in a world gone mad! After the poster debuted earlier this week, we now have the full trailer.
The Walking Deceased is a delightfully bloody addition to the pantheon of zombie-apocalypse comedies (are there many?), lampooning every tried and true zombie meme. Join the Sheriff (Dave Sheridan) with his son, and a motley crew of survivors as they weather confrontations with zombies, meet up and then leave their tattered camp, a partially destroyed shopping mall. The group journeys to the supposed Safe Haven Rand seeking shelter from the owners, a fascinating and diabolical older couple.

The The Walking Deceased is a delightfully bloody addition to the pantheon of  zombie-apocalypse spoofs. Director Scott Dow makes his directorial debut with this horror comedy, lampooning every tried and true zombie meme. And he's brought a strong ensemble with him, lead by Scary Movie star Dave Sheridan.

The group journeys to the supposed Safe Haven Ranch  seeking shelter from the owners, a fascinating and diabolical older couple. Along for the ride with the still-human survivors is a lone zombie who begins to see and develop his human side when he hooks up with the brash female lead.
The unexpected twists and turns will delight those who enjoy over-the-top blood spattering while horror movie buffs will appreciate the George Romeroesque touches.

When 22-year-old Oscar Grant was brutally murdered in 2008 by a Bay Area transit cop, it made national headlines. What wasn't in the news was this young man's path to redemption, which is put on display in director Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station. We have three new clips which offer glimpses into this young man's troubled life that ended too soon. The first scene shows Oscar (Michael B. Jordan) behind bars, with his mother Wanda (Octavia Spencer) expressing how disappointed she is in her son. The second scene shows Oscar trying to comfort his daughter Tatiana (Ariana Neal), and the third clip shows Oscar's girlfriend Sophina chastising him for his choices. After it's critically-acclaimed debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Fruitvale Station hits theaters on July 26.

The Weinstein Company has acquired writer-director Ryan Coogler's debut feature Fruitvale, beating out studios such as Fox Searchlight, Paramount Pictures, Focus Features and CBS Films in a heated bidding war.
The drama is based on the true story of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old man who was shot dead in Oakland by transit police, in a case that caused protests over police brutality in the Bay Area. Chad Michael Murray, Kevin Durand, Octavia Spencer, Ahna O'Reilly, and Melonie Diaz also star.
Fruitvale was picked up for just over $2 million by The Weinstein Company, in a deal that guarantees a commitment for a major theatrical release. Forest Whitaker produced the drama alongside Nina Yang, with actress Octavia Spencer also serving as a co-executive producer.
The film has garnered the same kind of momentum that previous Sundance favorites Precious and last year's Beasts of the Southern Wild rode all...

Parodies on horror can be hard to get right, as witnessed by Scary Movie. Personally I thought Scary Movie was quite good, it took Scream as the main focus and actually got a few laughs out of it, and then Scary Movie 2 came along which in a diluted form did the same but with the haunted house setting as the focus of the comedy. After that and after the Wayans brothers left the series it went downhill fast, even though the inclusion of Lesley Nielsen did save it to some extent. Now that we know that Scary Movie 5 is on its way I’m sure that most of us groaned at the thought of that dead dog being kicked once more.
