Tragic news out of the world of television today, as Days of Our Lives star Francisco San Martin has passed away.

He was just 39 years old.

Multiple reports have confirmed that San Martin was found dead in his home by police on Thursday.

The young star had numerous credits to his name, but he was best known for his work as Dario Hernandez on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives.

As first reported by Soap Opera Digest, Paggi will take over the role of Maxie, the eldest daughter of Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) and Felicia Cummings (Kristina Wagner), who has been a part of the long-running daytime drama since 1993. Storms, who was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2009, has portrayed the character since 2005. This isn’t the first time the character of Maxie has changed faces. Robyn Richards first portrayed the role from 1993 to 2004 before Storms took over in 2005. In 2011, Storms took extended medical leave, with Jen Lilley temporarily taking on the role. Storms also had temporary absences in 2016, 2017, and 2018, with Molly Burnett frequently stepping in in her place. Paggi is perhaps best known for playing Jennie Bradbury on Mike White‘s critically acclaimed Fox series Pasadena.

Kirsten Storms is taking a temporary leave of absence from the soap opera series General Hospital and her replacement has been revealed.

The 39-year-old actress has been starring as Maxie on the ABC soap drama since 2005 after previously starring on Days of Our Lives before that.

This isn’t the first time that Kirsten has taken a break from the show. Jen Lilley replaced her briefly in 2011 while Molly Burnett filled in frequently for various lengths of time from 2016 through 2018.

Soap Opera Digest has revealed that actress Nicole Paggi is going to “temporarily” play the role during Kirsten‘s break.

TVLine reports that the break is “just a couple days.” It’s unclear why she is out from the show. She previously needed to leave the show for skin issues in 2016 and brain surgery in 2021.

Paggi — who played Kelly Ripa’s niece/Faith Ford’s daughter Sydney in the ABC comedy Hope & Faith — debuted today on the ABC daytime soap.

Days of Our Lives vet Storms joined General Hospital in 2005 after playing Isabella “Belle” Black on the NBC drama from 1999 to 2004.

This is the second such switch of this character. Storms’ Maxie was temporarily recast in 2011, with Jen Lilley taking over the part until Storms returned in 2012. Storm also took temporary leaves from the show in 2016, 2017 and 2018, ranging from a couple days to a several-months hiatus, with Molly Burnett frequently filling in.

A new “Law & Order” spinoff is coming to Canada, Toronto-based network Citytv announced on Monday. “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” will follow an elite squad of detectives who investigate high-profile crime and corruption in metro Toronto. It is slated to air in spring 2024.

Produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc., in association with Citytv, the series will be 10 one-hour episodes, with production taking place this fall in Toronto. It will “showcase original Canadian stories written and produced by, and starring, Canadians,” per Citytv’s press release.

“The timeless appeal of the cases explored in the globally successful Law & Order franchise continue to draw in Citytv audiences week after week,” said Hayden Mindell, SVP of Television, Rogers Sports & Media. “We’re thrilled to be in partnership with Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc., to bring Canadian stories to this iconic format.”

According to TV Line, Molly Burnett is bowing out as Det. Grace Muncy as a series regular.

Burnett's exit played out during the conclusion of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3, which served as a crossover with Svu.

Muncy revealed to Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) that Chief Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) had rewarded her dedication to the Elias Olsen case by giving her a spot on a DEA task force.

As a result, Burnett is no longer a series regular, but that doesn't mean she won't pop back up down the line.

Per TVLine, the loss of Burnett's Detective Grace Muncy was made evident during Thursday’s two-hour Svu/Organized Crime crossover episode, which also served as the finale for both series. In the first half, Muncy is heard discussing the potential move to a task force position, which is further indicated when Ice Cube's Detective Fin Tutuola tells her that he will miss her. Together, these sequences confirmed the offer and Muncy's acceptance of another job outside the purview of the eponymous Special Victims Unit.

Molly Burnett, who plays Detective Grace Muncy on “Law & Order: Svu,” is leaving after less than a year on the crime series, according to media outlet’s reports.

Burnett is the latest “Law & Order” actor to make their departure from the show, following news that original cast member Kelli Giddish, who reprised her role as Amanda Rollins, was leaving the series.

Burnett’s character Detective Grace Muncy made her debut during Season 24 of the show in the episode “The One You Feed,” which aired in July of 2022. Muncy’s exit was revealed in Thursday night’s episode, a joint crossover season finale of “Law & Order: Svu” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Wolf Entertainment tweeted an extended version of Muncy’s farewell on Friday. TheWrap reached out to NBC for comment.
