The Indian action crime thriller, Mirzapur, features a cast of notable Indian actors as well as a few talents new to the space. Prime Video India’s crime drama “Mirzapur” has set a new benchmark with its third season, becoming the platform’s most-watched show in India during its launch weekend.

The series has also gained significant international traction, trending in the platform’s Top 10 list across more than 85 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia.

Produced by Excel Media and Entertainment, the show began streaming from July 5 and was watched in 98% of India’s post codes during its opening weekend, Prime Video said.

In response to the show’s performance, Prime Video and Excel Media and Entertainment have begun development on a fourth season. While details about the upcoming instalment are under wraps, fans can expect the series to continue its exploration of power dynamics and criminal underworld in the heartland of northern India.

Once upon a time, Milan Luthria directed a film about gangsters called Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Not that it was any great shakes. But compared to Luthria’s new homage to gangsterism, it was a masterpiece.

The new monsterpiece stretching into nine episodes should have never been made. It is hideously bad in plotting and woefully inadequate in execution. The sets are tacky: a refugee camp in the opening episode looks like a college canteen.

Dull and cheesy, it establishes an immediate yawn sumbandh with the audience, provided there is an audience for these tales glorifying gangsters and sociopaths who should ideally be placed in the trashcan of anonymity.

New Delhi, July 20 – After playing a miniscule role in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Anjum Sharma is set to make a mark with ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’. He admits Danny Boyle’s multi-oscar winning film gave him visibility but says the role was so small that he even forgot about it.
