It’s funny to think that streaming services like Netflix didn’t bother creating posters for their original work a few years back knowing they’d never have to contend with competition at the local multiplex. Slowly but surely they began doing a few here or there before steadily growing to the point where it seemed they enjoyed being able to embrace out-of-the-box designs for the same reasons they avoided the process altogether.
Now we’re at the end of a calendar to forget that saw a majority of theaters shuttered for nine straight months to make it so streamers became king. Big studios pushed titles out of 2020 altogether, small studios went virtual, and Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, et al. watched subscriptions soar. Suddenly their digital multiplex formed the playground for cinematic competition and the continued creativity of poster design found itself working at the top of its game just like always.

British double Olympic gold medalist boxer Nicola Adams is set to make history by being the first contestant to be part of a female same-sex dance team on BBC’s ballroom show “Strictly Come Dancing,” the format known as “Dancing With the Stars” in many international markets. The identify of her dance partner is yet to be disclosed.
In 2019, male professional dancers Johannes Radebe and Graziano di Prima performed a routine while Emeli Sandé sang. This attracted 189 complaints from members of the public. “ ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is an inclusive show and is proud to have been able to facilitate the dance between Johannes and Graziano during the Professionals’ dance,” the BBC had stated then. “They are dancers first and foremost, and their sex had no bearing on their routine.”

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” is a proverb whose simple existence proves the fact impressionable souls will do so without fail. This monthly column focuses on the film industry’s willingness to capitalize on this truth, releasing one-sheets to serve as not representations of what audiences are to expect, but as propaganda to fill seats. Oftentimes they fail miserably.
With four big festivals happening this month, it’s no surprise that the only true blockbusters hitting screens are the highly anticipated sequel to a Stephen King property and the inexplicable return of Downton Abbey (September 20). We could probably throw Rambo: Last Blood (September 20) into the mix too for the boomer crowd.
That’s not to say movies like Hustlers (September 13) and Abominable (September 27) won’t make money. They will. The distinction comes from those two titles making their debuts on that same festival circuit. Just because the...

Nearly six years is an eon in the digital world, but after first filing a breach-of-contract and age-discrimination suit against Ktla-tv and owner Tribune Media back in early 2013, the man once widely known in SoCal and around America as Kurt the Cyberguy got a multimillion-dollar 2.0 reset from a jury.
After just three hours of deliberation Thursday, a collection of Kurt Knutsson’s peers in Los Angeles Superior Court awarded the TV tech personality just over $3.9 million in his battle with the local station that was his home for decades and its Chicago-based owners.
“I could not stop crying,” Knutsson said today at the offices of his lawyers Gloria Allred, Nathan Goldberg and John West of Judge Gregory Alarcon’s ruling. “I was overwhelmed because I was finally vindicated,” the now-Fox & Friends contributor added over seven years after Ktla suddenly pink-slipped him after 16 years talking tech on-air for them and a...

Of course, that worry gets kicked up a few notches when the show deviates from the source material.
It’s all worked out well though, as the show has not only managed a huge following, but has picked up a lot of noteworthy attention along the way, such as being voted Most Bingeworthy Show at the 2016 Critics Choice Awards.

The British are coming! The British are coming! But really, they're totally taking over Hollywood. Vanity Fair realized that UK actors have been scooping up major roles left and right—in fact, as they pointed out, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and Abraham Lincoln have all been played by Brits. So, the mag decided to have a little fun. London-born photographer Jason Bell rounded up a bevy of British actors (more like every British actor ever), including Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch, Felicity Jones, Tom Hiddleston and Dame Judi Dench to star in a short film. Based off of a World War II-era newsreel, the clips show the actors doing a tongue-in-cheek reenactment of preparing for war, invading...

Their British heritage, of course, but now Vanity Fair and photographer Jason Bell are formally celebrating the British Hollywood invasion with a short film extravaganza starring England's biggest stars, from Cumberbatch and Jones to Michael Cane, James McAvoy, Damian Lewis, Dame Judi Dench and dozens more. Fashioned like World War II-era newsreels, the three parts showcase the prominence of Hollywood actors who pledge allegiance to the Queen. The Brits have officially invaded Hollywood in a new short film shot by Jason Bell for Vanity Fair. Showing off a darling brood close to his heart, famed photographer Jason Bell shared a photo of the royal family via Twitter earlier this week and it quickly went viral due to its cuteness.
Posing in front of a simple backdrop, Prince William, Kate Middleton and little Prince George show off their brilliant smiles in an adorable portrait - which is framed in Bell's home.
According to reports, the photo was taken in March and sent out as thank you cards after the Duke and Duchess' royal tour of Australia and New Zealand earlier this year with their little one.
Jason is the same photographer who took other famous portraits of the lovely family - and a Kensington Palace official confirmed that this picture is authentic and was taken by Bell.
