Rowan Atkinson is returning to Netflix to follow up Man Vs Bee with slapstick sequel series Man Vs Baby.
Rowan Atkinson’s prowess at physical comedy and slapstick shenanigans combined with his malleable rubber face have made him famous worldwide as Mr Bean. One of Atkinson’s biggest influences is French comedian and filmmaker Jacques Tati, and he based much of the humour in 2007’s Mr Bean’s Holiday on Tati’s masterpiece Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday.
It made sense that Atkinson would try to reach the widest possible audience by creating a near silent series for Netflix. Man vs Bee, which Atkinson created with Will Davies and also starred Jing Lusi, Claudie Blakley, Tom Basden, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Greg McHugh, saw him play Trevor Bingley. Trevor’s a down on his luck man who finds himself battling a bee whilst looking after a luxurious house, leading to calamity and chaos. John Hughes...

Rowan Atkinson is back for Netflix and this time he’s taking on a human foe in Man vs Baby.
The streamer has rolled cameras on the series, which follows 2022’s Man vs Bee.
In Man vs Bee, the Mr Bean star was Trevor Bingley, a down-on-his-luck man who finds himself entrenched in a battle with an insect while house sitting a rich couple’s modern mansion. Man vs Bee also starred Jing Lusi, Claudie Blakley, Tom Basden, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Greg McHugh.
The new series, which has started production, will see Atkinson return as Bingley alongside “another unlikely companion,” according to Netflix, as he looks after a luxurious London penthouse.
The four-parter is once again created by Atkinson and Will Davies. Davies also EPs with Chris Clark. HouseSitter Productions is producing again and David Kerr is director.

After an ultra-successful opening weekend for Wicked, filmmaker Jon M. Chu is opening up about the long-awaited Crazy Rich Asians sequel, another of the director's immensely popular films. While Wicked: Part 2 is already on the calendar debuting November 21, 2025 a follow-up to the 2018 smash hit Crazy Rich Asians is, unfortunately, nowhere to be seen. That said, a sequel is certainly on Chu's mind.
In a chat with Deadline, Chu expressed his desire to revisit the Crazy Rich Asians universe if and only if they can do it right. The director is seemingly hesitant, as he ultimately desires to respect the original and wants to make sure it's worthwhile for the cast, crew, and audience, stating, "I won't bring everyone back unless it's worth it. There's too much on the line for everybody." Sure, this might not be exactly the response fans wanted to hear regarding a potential sequel, but it...

Warning: contains major finale spoilers for ITV’s Red Eye.
By the end of ITV’s Red Eye, Richard Armitage’s character Dr Matthew Nolan had been awake for (approximate calculation) a gazillion hours. Even if he hadn’t been shot saving Hana (Jing Lusi) from that bullet, he’d still have ended the series in a hospital bed due to exhaustion-related organ failure and having blood sugar lower than the Mariana Trench.
Dr Nolan will pull through though, and when he does, he may require a lucid breakdown of what the hell just happened. From car crashes to stapler-surgery to a rogue CIA plot to end the Anglo-China nuclear partnership, all the way to that heroic bullet jump, here’s how everything landed after Red Eye’s surprisingly tight finale.

In his post-The Hobbit years, actor Richard Armitage has carved out a genre niche for himself—a kind of typical thriller with him being the center of attention. He’s either accused of something or his wife has gone missing; it’s mostly along these lines. These thrillers are never great, but they are always watchable largely thanks to Armitage’s charismatic screen presence. They’re mostly adapted from Harlan Coben’s bestsellers, and they’re always on Netflix. ITV’s latest thriller, Red Eye, is not based on a Coben story, and it’s certainly not on Netflix, but with Armitage being the lead, it does follow the same pattern. And despite all the glaring logical flaws, the show is an entertaining watch from start to finish. Like most recent works of Armitage, it is very bingeable. What makes it unique, though? Well, Armitage doesn’t cheat on...

20 minutes in to Red Eye, a foot chase through Heathrow airport ends with a man making an impassioned plea outside a branch of Leon. He vaults over barriers like the kid in Love Actually and implores the crowd to film his testimony. Rightly wary of flash mob marriage proposals, the British holiday-going public are slow to act but get his message out: vascular surgeon Dr Matthew Nolan is being framed for murder and extradited to Beijing.
Is Nolan (Richard Armitage) guilty, or on the level? Is he being sacrificed by the British government to protect a valuable Chinese nuclear power deal, or is there a deeper conspiracy at work? DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), the no-nonsense cop tasked with escorting Nolan on Flight 357, has six episodes to find out.

She is one of the first east Asian actors to play the lead in a big British drama, and her new show Red Eye is a nerve-jangler. She discusses culture shock, sexism and the sheer joy of making Crazy Rich Asians
As a teenager, Jing Lusi was something of a wild child. She was smoking and drinking by the time she was 13, frequently ended up in detention at school and even got suspended for smoking on school premises. “I needed to let off steam,” she says. The actor was rebelling against her strict parents but also against the stereotype of east Asians as well-behaved, “dorky” students. Hers was one of the few Chinese immigrant families living in Southampton in the 90s. She just wanted to fit in. “I managed to get through school by adopting this persona of: ‘I’m wild and erratic, don’t pick on me because I’m not submissive.

Gal Gadot stars in the Netflix spy thriller Heart of Stone as an international agent trying to save her team and protect a special AI called The Heart from a malicious hacker. The movie combines elements of traditional spy films with new ideas, and the action sequences are a mix of practical effects and visually enhanced scenes to maintain authenticity.

Heart of Stone cinematographer George Steel found inspiration for the movie's visual style in the maligned James Bond movie Octopussy. Steel wanted to create a rougher aesthetic for Gal Gadot's character in Heart of Stone, rather than a glossy portrayal like Wonder Woman. Octopussy, despite its lackluster reception, still had elements that Steel admired, such as Roger Moore's wardrobe and the movie's unique blend of elegance and roughness.
Heart of Stone cinematographer George Steel reveals the maligned James Bond movie that inspired the Gal Gadot spy thriller. Now available on Netflix, Heart of Stone stars Wonder Woman’s Gadot as Rachel Stone, an international agent tasked with keeping safe a mysterious object called “The Heart.” Directed by Tom Harper, Heart of Stone also stars Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, Sophie Okonedo, Jing Lusi, Paul Ready, B.D. Gal Gadot has led the charge in Heart of Stone with a female perspective.
As per Flaunt, Gadot paved the way for a new era of female-driven action storytelling. With her new film Heart of Stone, Gadot has ensured the narrative was told from a female perspective, its cast included Sophie Okonedo, Alia Bhatt, and Jing Lusi. Gadot, who also produced the film, emphasized the importance of authentic female representation in her roles, rather than merely slotting women into roles designed for men. “There are so many scripts that I get offered personally where they say, ‘Let’s just swap the man for a woman’...With this, it was a real no to that,” she stated. “We wanted to build a really strong character who is a woman, telling this story from her perspective, a female perspective. So many things were informed by the fact she is a woman.”

Gal Gadot, the actress and producer of Netflix's latest action thriller Heart of Stone, has praised the Fast & Furious franchise for including diversity among the cast.
In an interview with Flaunt, Gadot, recognized for her iconic role as Wonder Woman in the Dceu, talked about Heart of Stone, revealing how the Fast & Furious franchise inspired her to make a more diverse action film. The actress lauded the franchise's significance in its portrayal of women as equals to men in action sequences and in terms of global diversity within the cast.

“Fast was this very strong, dominant franchise that allowed women to be celebrated as well [as men] and not just sit at the back, literally in the passenger seat. They let them drive,” Gadot said. “I feel like they were the first that really went for a global cast.

"All of the action, stunts, everything you see was done with real people." Real stunts are cool! Though is the movie any good? Netflix has unveiled a final behind-the-scenes featurette for their action spy thriller titled Heart of Stone, streaming soon if anyone wants to watch. This has been getting awful reviews, and I'm not surprised. Just because they spent a lot of moeny making this doesn't mean it will be any good. Gal Gadot stars as the lead character Rachel Stone, an elite CIA agent who must make sure they don't lose their most valuable asset - a special tech device that allows them to help orchestra the world. The twist is that she also works for a secret "peacekeeping" organization called Charter, and they are free from the government or other ties. So a bit of James Bond, a bit of Mission Impossible, in a globe-trotting adventure with Gadot as our world-saving 007.

Heart of Stone starring Gal Gadot is not the hit Netflix expected, with a low 32% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a disappointing release. Despite the film's reception, Netflix is pushing for a sequel and hopes to create a franchise around Gadot's character, Rachel Stone. Gal Gadot has a busy future with projects, including playing Disney's Evil Queen in the live-action remake of Snow White and returning for the Fast & Furious franchise's epic conclusion.
Heart of Stone is already available to watch on Netflix, but it seems like the latest thriller starring Gal Gadot is not the hit the streaming service was hoping it would be.
Directed by Tom Harper, who has worked on some other thrillers like 2014's War Book or acclaimed projects like Peaky Blinders, Heart of Stone follows International Intelligence agent Rachel Stone (Gadot) while she embarks on a dangerous mission, probably the most important of her career.

Plot: An intelligence operative for a shadowy global peacekeeping agency races to stop a hacker from stealing its most valuable and dangerous weapon.
Review: We have entered the strange period of the SAG-AFTRA strike, where big movies are being released with minimal marketing from the film stars. At any other time, Heart of Stone would get a substantial push on every platform you can imagine. Instead, there are a few interviews filmed several weeks in advance that try to promote the new film. With Wonder Woman herself in the lead, Heart of Stone is designed to be Netflix‘s equivalent of Mission: Impossible, even boasting their shared producers in the trailers. While the film shares more in common with the James Bond franchise, some spectacular chase sequences echo the most recent entries in Tom Cruise’s hit franchise. If Heart of Stone has any distinctive visual moments, they all involve a supercomputer called the Heart. The Heart appears in the form of holographic images surrounding operator the Jack of Hearts (Matthias Schweighöfer), who moves around digital objects and zooms in on key details by waving his hands and touching objects. Yes, we’ve seen many similar depictions of supercomputers ever since Tom Cruise stared intensely at future crimes in 2002’s Minority Report and Tony Stark threw hot rod red on his suit in 2008’s Iron Man. Heck, we’ve seen Jeff Goldblum wave his shockingly large hands around cg-landscapes in apartment commercials.
To his credit though, director Tom Harper doesn’t treat the visuals as anything groundbreaking or particularly exciting. It’s just shorthand for superspy technology. In fact, everything in Heart of Stone is superspy shorthand—a recitation of ideas and characters that we’ve seen time and again.

With the release of Jaws and Star Wars back in the 1970s, producer Roger Corman lamented that Hollywood had learned his secret. Corman, longtime peddler of drive-in schlock, had made a fortune by producing low-budget genre pictures — exploitation movies, as they would become known. For the record, the term “exploitation” didn’t have a bad connotation in this case. Corman, and those like him, exploited the thirst of the audience with his movies...and occasionally a fading star that needed a paycheck.
Flash forward to 2023, when Hollywood grants the kind of cheap exploitation pictures that Rogar Corman used to make $300 million budgets, or in the case of Netflix’s Heart of Stone, a reported $130 million. Ads for the movie tout it as coming from the same producers that made the Mission: Impossible movie series a success. And, as with the Mission: Impossible movies, Heart of Stone owes a large debt to movie maestros like Corman,...

Heart of Stone is the latest in a storied genre of action-espionage films. A modern answer to the Pierce Brosnan era of James Bond films, Heart of Stone is at its best when it embraces that tone and leans into a big scope. A quintessential Saturday afternoon action movie with just enough to say in-between action set-pieces, Heart of Stone isn't a game changer. But the Gal Gadot-led Netflix flick does offer a solid enough experience -- bolstered by a strong cast and overall good execution -- to justify a watch.

In the final moments of Tom Harper’s “Heart of Stone”, the Netflix spy caper edges as close as it ever does to a joke. As the various players in the film race to possess the powerful artificial intelligence known as “The Heart” (told you), the tech goes offline, inspiring one character to tell another that the best course of action is to turn it off, then back on again. Ah, if only.

If there’s one thing to know about MI6 agent Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot), it’s that she’s meant to stay in the van. In Tom Harper’s new action thriller “Heart of Stone,” there are spies in the field and spies who drive, but some spies are just supposed to sit behind a computer screen reading fast-scrolling lines of code and hacking into mainframes. It’s possible this seems a little implausible, knowing what we know about star Gal Gadot’s star persona, and that’s because it is: Rachel Stone of MI6 is not who she says she is.

Netflix clearly is determined to play the major-studio game of big, star-driven action franchises. Extraction, its current sequel, another Russo Brothers’ franchise The Gray Man (with the promise of more), Red Notice and many others represent big-screen-type entertainment designed ultimately for people to watch on their couches at home.
This kind of stuff, while skillfully and expensively executed, still works best at Imax rather than your living room, but the streamer is convinced that it will goose subscriptions, so expect more of movies like Heart of Stone, a convoluted spy thriller loaded with James Bond-style action set pieces but with a wonder woman in the name of Gal Gadot in the center of it all. Taking a cue from Charlize Theron’s Netflix franchise The Old Guard, this is a female-driven enterprise where the men, namely Jamie Dornan’s complicated bad guy, take a back seat for the most part.

Tom Harper’s Heart of Stone is a paint-by-numbers global espionage thriller that isn’t done any favors by releasing so soon after Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The film is similar in scope and tone to the most recent Ethan Hunt spy caper but vastly inferior by almost every other measure, especially when it comes to action and characterization.

Netflix tries muscling in on the Mission: Impossible game with the adrenaline-charged spy thriller Heart of Stone, built as a vehicle for Gal Gadot (one of the producers) to swap superheroics for a more earthbound combo of brains, tech savvy, instinct and formidable fight skills. While it’s a few notches up from the Wonder Woman star’s last action romp for the streamer, Red Notice, it feels only marginally less manufactured from the spare parts of other movies. But it gets the job done and is sure to pull solid numbers. It doesn’t hurt that Gadot has appealing chemistry with co-star Jamie Dornan.

Heart of Stone star Gal Gadot runs into Chief Action Officer Arnold Schwarzenegger at Netflix HQ in a new promo for the upcoming action film.
In the 90-second promo, a surprised Gadot asks Schwarzenegger why he is working at the Netflix HQ coffee stand. The latter explains that he wants to make sure "everything at Netflix is injected with as much action as possible." Shortly after this comment, a customer's coffee explodes across his face, prompting Gadot to remark, "That seems dangerous." The two action stars then begin discussing Gadot's new movie, Heart of Stone, and about how "a great spy thrives under pressure." The clip ends with Gadot helping Schwarzenegger make himself a cup of joe, which subsequently explodes across his face. The promo is similar to the one Netflix released back in June to promote Chris Hemsworth's action sequel, Extraction 2.

Gal Gadot credits her role as Wonder Woman for paving the way for her new film, Heart of Stone, which she believes wouldn't have been possible without the success of the DC franchise. Wonder Woman became a groundbreaking film for female-led movies and opened doors for more projects with women at the helm. In Heart of Stone, Gadot plays an international intelligence agent tasked with protecting an artifact, leading her on a dangerous adventure. The film also stars Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt, and Sophie Okonedo.

Gadot stars in the clip for “Quiet,” which The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively premiering Thursday. The song is by Israeli alternative pop artist Noga Erez and was created specifically for Heart of Stone, which debuts Aug. 11 on Netflix. “Quiet” is featured in the opening credits of the movie.
The nearly four-minute video, which was filmed in Los Angeles before the SAG-AFTRA strike, is interwoven with clips from the film and also features Gadot sitting in a car and later standing toe-to-toe with Erez. The video was directed by Loris Russier, whose credits include Burna Boy and J Balvin’s “Rollercoaster” and Ella Mai’s “Dfmu.”

Owning several of those titles, it's safe to say Netflix is leading the pack.
Now they're releasing another star-studded cyberespionage blockbuster with Heart of Stone. Decked out with fancy technology and wild action sequences, the big-budget film from Tom Harper stars Gal Gadot as a literal secret agent. Rachel Stone is a highly-valued operative for a massive deep state organization of sorts which...

Heart of Stone is the tale of Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) who appears to be an inexperienced tech, on an elite MI6 unit headed up by lead agent Parker (Jamie Dornan). What her MI6 team doesn’t know is that Stone actually works for the Charter — a covert peacekeeping organization, secret even from other spies, which uses cutting-edge technology to neutralize global threats.
