The final episode of Mare of Easttown limited series drew four million viewers over the holiday weekend across HBO and HBO Max, with nearly three million viewers Sunday night (all platforms), marking a series high for both linear and digital, according to HBO. The finale also set the record as the most watched episode of an Original Series on HBO Max during its first 24 hours of availability, besting the finales of recent hits The Undoing and The Flight Attendant over the same period of time.

The series premiere of the Kate Winslet-starring limited series Mare of Easttown drew 1 million viewers on Sunday across HBO and HBO Max, with the premium network saying it marked the second-best for a series debut on HBO Max behind last week’s strong numbers for The Nevers.

The Nevers, the Victorian science fiction drama series created and executive produced by Joss Whedon, drew just over 1.4 million viewers across linear telecasts and digital April 12.

Kate Winslet takes on a detective fixed on solving a small-town murder in HBO’s new “Mare of Easttown” trailer, which released on Wednesday.

The limited series — created, written and executive produced by showrunner Brad Inglesby — features Winslet in the role of Mare Sheehan, a detective from Pennsylvania. The plot centers around her attempt to solve a local murder while also balancing her own personal life, which is rapidly falling apart around her.

The actor is joined by stars Julianne Nicholson, who plays Mare’s best friend, and Evan Peters, who takes on the role of a county detective tasked with helping Mare solve the crime. The two detectives butt heads over the course of the investigation.

As if solving a murder were not difficult enough, Mare’s life is further complicated by the unsolicited opinions of her mother (Jean Smart) and her strong-headed daughter (Angourie Rice) whom she cares for.

During WarnerMedia’s TCA presentation on Wednesday morning, HBO announced its seven-part series starring Kate Winslet will premiere Sunday, April 18 at 10 p.m. Et. Each episode will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

Winslet, who’s also executive producing for the first time in her storied career, plays Mare Sheehan, a detective living in the titular Pennsylvania town who’s tasked with investigating a local murder under trying personal circumstances. HBO’s official synopsis dubs “Mare of Easttown” (you’ve got it now!) “an exploration into the dark side of a close community and an authentic examination of how family and past tragedies can define our present.

Guy Pearce will reunite with his “Mildred Pierce” co-star Kate Winslet for another upcoming HBO miniseries, “Mare of Easttown,” Variety has confirmed. Both Pearce and Winslet won Emmy awards in 2011 for their performances in the five-part adaptation, which garnered 21 nominations altogether and five wins.

Pearce is “The Crown” actor Ben Miles’ replacement for the role of Richard Ryan in the limited series, a visiting creative writing professor who wrote a National Book Award-winning novel 25 years ago, but has not lived up to his early potential. Miles left the show over a year ago due to scheduling conflicts. Pearce will co-star alongside Winslet, who plays Mare Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective whose life crumbles around her as she investigates a local murder.

Exclusive: A decade after Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce co-starred together on the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, the two are reteaming on another longform project at the premium cable network.

Pearce has been tapped to co-star opposite Winslet in Mare of Easttown, HBO’s limited series focused on family and community, which is a co-production of HBO and wiip. He replaces Ben Miles, who had been originally cast in the role but left due to scheduling conflicts more than a year ago.

Written by Brad Inglesby, and directed by Craig Zobel, Mare of Easttown stars Winslet as Mare Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective whose life crumbles around her as she investigates a local murder.

Time flies. Netflix has cancelled its Seven Seconds TV show after just one season. Reportedly, since there will be no season two of the once potential anthology series, the streaming service is likely to submit Seven Seconds for Emmy consideration as Limited Series: Drama. I recently finished watching the first season of Seven Seconds on Netflix and I thought it was a great series with well-drawn out complex characters. It also carried a power message. If you haven't seen it yet, you really need to watch it. 

I was looking forward to seeing what they would do with Season 2, but that's not going to happen. Netflix has canceled the series. I guess it's okay though, because the first season stands on its own and didn't leave audiences with a cliffhanger. 

The series was created and executive produced by Veena Sud (The Killing), and the story centered on a white cop who accidentally hits and critically injures a black teenager. “Seven Seconds” has been canceled after just one season at Netflix, Variety has confirmed.

In the series, which was created and executive produced by Veena Sud (“The Killing”), a white cop accidentally hits and critically injures a black teenager, causing a northeastern city to explode with racial tension. Regina King starred as the mother of the boy who was hit, alongside Clare-Hope Ashitey, Russell Hornsby, Beau Knapp, Michael Mosley, David Lyons, Raul Castillo, Zackary Momoh, Patrick Murney, Michelle Veintimilla, Nadia Alexander, and Coley Mustafa Speaks.

Despite the cancellation, Netflix still plans to submit the series for Emmy consideration in the limited series category.
