The workplace comedy launched on NBC with two back-to-back episodes. NBCUniversal did not provide seven-day viewership insights for the second episode, but it did say that the second episode retained 82%, or roughly 3.3M, of the premiere’s L+Sd audience.

NBCUniversal also says the premiere episode is up to a 1.44 ratings in the key 18-49 demo, a 182% lift from the 0.51 it scored on its debut night.

The first episode’s L+Sd rating helped it rank not only as the top scripted program of the night, but also the highest-rated scripted broadcast series premiere without an NFL lead-in in nearly two years.

On Peacock, “St. Denis Medical” ranks as NBC’s No. 1 most-watched comedy launch on the streamer.

The NBC comedy also scored impressive ratings for its premiere with a 0.51 rating in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, ranking as the No. 1 scripted program of the night. “St. Denis Medical” now ranks as the highest-rated scripted broadcast series premiere without an NFL lead-in in nearly two years, outpacing 17 non-nfl lead out scripted launches across the major broadcast networks in that time.

As seasonal depression and the constant stream of horrible news loom over the world, NBC has an answer to people's woes. That’s not “St. Denis Medical.” NBC’s latest comedy is more likely to feature two nurses feuding over a candy bar than pulling off a medical miracle.

“Part of the genesis of this show was talking about what is the day-to-day of a non-beautiful ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ or ‘ER?'” executive producer Justin Spitzer told TheWrap during the Television Critics Association’s 2024 summer tour.

For showrunner and EP Eric Ledgin, the true heart of the series made itself known when he was talking to a doctor “friend of a friend.” In the doctor’s hospital, there was a surgeon who was performing bad surgeries and endangering patients. So the staff banded together and worked to get this problematic surgeon fired.
