We’ve long been in the midst of a reimagining of Greek myth — these can be conscious of the original setting of the stories of Hesiod and Homer, as is from Emily Wilson’s searing translation of “The Iliad,” as well as the somewhat less faithful raft of novels taking marginalized characters in Greek myth as their protagonists and the platforming perfection of “Hades.” But likewise, the jazz funeral that is “Hadestown,” the apotheosis of fanfic and webcomics that is “Lore Olympus,” and now, several different films and TV shows all play with the Greek gods using bits of our own contemporary context.

General Hospital spoilers tease that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) have been in each other’s lives for a very long time.
Although they initially didn’t get along, the murder of Maxie’s younger sister Georgie Jones (Lindze Letherman) brought them together as they searched for Georgie’s killer together.
They eventually fell in love despite Mac Scorpio’s (John J York) wishes and almost married before Spinelli called it off. He believed that Maxie wasn’t quite ready to be married, and they remained friends.
General Hospital Spoilers – Maxie Jones Found Love With Nathan West
Although they did have a one night stand that produced a daughter, who they also named Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) both Maxie and Spinelli had romance with other people.
Spinelli fell for Ellie Trout (Emily Wilson) and they moved away when Spinelli was awarded sole custody of Georgie.

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers report Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) are officially a couple — and in love.
Spontaneously, love was in the air at Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s (Amanda Setton) wedding to Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Maxie couldn’t contain her true feelings anymore.
That being said, the fans are chattering that there might be more drama ahead before these two can really share any kind of happily ever after.
Did it all come too easy? We did wait more than a year for Spinelli to declare his love for the Maxonista, but will her worst fears of breaking his heart again come true? Or will they ride off into the sunset — finally?
One has to wonder whether the next big day Maxie will plan will be her own wedding day to Spinelli. Can they make it down the aisle this time while keeping their sanity and family intact?...

Cree Cicchino, Connor Kalopsis, Katy Mixon and Christopher Gorham have been cast in “Unplanned in Akron,” CBS’s teen-parenting comedy pilot from Schuyler Helford.
The series follows two teenagers navigating parenthood in the best way they know how. With a little help from their friends and parents, they’ll learn that mistakes in life don’t have to derail your life — that no matter what age you are, taking care of a child is no joke — but sometimes, you just have to laugh (or cry) your way through it.
Cicchino plays Brianna, who is sharp-witted, outspoken and unfiltered. She’s emotionally mature beyond her years because she basically grew up playing “mom” to her four younger siblings. Now, she has an 8-month-old of her own. She and Tyler have an unbreakable bond and find each other hilarious. Cicchino is known for starring in “And Just Like That,” “Mr. Iglesias” and “The Sleepover.

ABC has passed on three more pilots. Drama Acts of Crime and comedies Black Don’t Crack and Bucktown will not be picked up to series. They join comedy pilot Adopted, whose team was notified of ABC’s decision not to proceed with it Thursday night.
None of these pilots had stood out in the past months or so, with the frontrunners among ABC’s 2021 pilots produced before the upfronts, The Wonder Years, Queens, Maggie and Abbott Elementary all landing series pickups earlier today.
Meanwhile, several pilots were left in consideration for midseason, including Kevin Costner’s National Parks Investigation, which was filmed but not finished in time for the upfronts, drama pilots Epic, Promised Land and Dark Horse, which have not been shot, and off-cycle drama pilot Triage, which has undergone recuts with conflicting results.
Acts of Crime, written and directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, marked Esmail’s first foray into broadcast television.

WarnerMedia has set its latest distribution deal for HBO Max, setting an agreement with Hulu for the forthcoming streaming service to be available to subscribers to the Disney-owned streaming service.
The arrangement follows the basic outline of the “add-on” model that had previously existed on Hulu for premium channels like Showtime, HBO, Starz, etc. It will allow a majority of Hulu’s nearly 31 million subscribers to add HBO Max through Hulu’s basic or ad-supported tiers as well as its Svod/live TV bundle. The deal follows a flurry of similar announcements by WarnerMedia with Charter Communications, YouTube TV, Google and Apple ahead of the May 27 launch of HBO Max.

At the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, writer/director Emily Wilson celebrated the world premiere of her short film Danny’s Girl, a quirky meet-cute that goes to some dark places once an online couple finally meet in person and certain disturbing truths are revealed. Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with Wilson about the real-life inspirations behind the story of Danny’s Girl, her approach to working with her cast, and more.
Let’s go ahead and start at the beginning and have you talk about the genesis for this idea, because I think it's a really fun short. I'm a bit older and thankfully I haven't had to do the dating thing for a while, but I can't even imagine the apprehension that comes with trying to date online these days.
Emily Wilson: Oh my gosh, yeah. I feel like the whole online dating thing is the perfect breeding ground for uncertainty,...

Updated 11:15 Am: Whitney Cummings will not be back as executive producer/co-showrunner of Roseanne for the show’s 13-episode eleventh season, with executive producer/co-showrunner Bruce Helford taking the reigns as the sole showrunner.
“Whitney just had too much on her plate to commit,” Helford told Deadline. “But she’s always a part of the Roseanne family.”
Cummings later confirmed the news on Twitter. “Working on Roseanne was a surreal, incredible experience,” she wrote. “Due to work commitments and my tour schedule, I’m gonna have to watch the Connors from the sidelines next season. It was an honor to work with such an incredible group of actors, writers and crew. Harry Levin, you can stop calling my cell phone now.”
Returning as writers on the show are Wanda Sykes and Norm MacDonald as well as veteran Roseanne alumni Bruce Rasmussen, Dave Caplan, Sid Youngers and Betsy Borns, all...

Cougar Town Season 5, Episode 7 “Time to Move On”
Written by Brad Morris & Emily Wilson
Directed by Sam Jones
Airs Tuesday nights at 10pm Et on TBS
Cougar Town‘s recent existential streak may not have solved some of the fifth season’s struggles with intriguing storytelling, but it established themes for the season as a whole that the first five or six episodes largely lacked. Like “Hard on Me”, “Time to Move On” is about looking forward, trying to provide an avenue for the next generation, free of the trappings and mistakes these characters made for themselves the first time around. Ok, Laurie and Ellie’s lesbian adventures in the world of private school picnics doesn’t get quite this deep, but the framework is there: as the focal points of the episode, Jules and Ellie draw neat parallels between each other as women trying to protect the future of their children – and eventually,...

Viking: westerly becoming cyclonic 5 or 6. Cromarty: visibility moderate becoming poor. London: conditions are tip-top for the opening night of the 67th film festival
Coming up today
Ahoy there mateys! Avast ye heavin and lend me ye ears, for tonight the good ship London film festival 67th edition hoists anchor for its 11 day voyage. And shiver me timbers if Captain Phillips isn't first to walk the gangplank. It's a tale of piracy on the high seas as the booty of our noble seadog Tom Hanks is seized by a clutch of thievin buccaneers who's hoisted the Jolly Roger off the horn of Africa. But here be warned: this ain't no yo-ho-ho affair, but a serious and Oscar-tipped thriller from Paul Greengrass about the true-life tale of a cargo liner set upon by Somali pirates in 2009. Sorry if the tone so far has been misleading.
Peter Bradshaw will review Captain Phillips around lunchtime today,...
