- Stabbed to death in bar brawl in Sidcup, London on 24 May 2008 by Karl Norman Bishop, whilst protecting his 16-year-old brother, four days after his last scene on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was shot. Knox's appearance in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was thus posthumous. His attacker was convicted of his murder on 4 March 2009.
- The Rob Knox Film Festival is held annually, early June in Bexley, South East London as a tribute and memorial to Rob. It is attended by his family and a wealth of local talent.

- Born the very same day (8/21/1989) as fellow 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)' cast member Elarica Johnson. (He was born in Kent, UK; she was born in South London, UK.).
