There was the ill-fated romance with Ray and Kendra in season 1 and a similarly tragic love story between Cold and Sara. This past weekend, Mike and I had the opportunity to attend the Wizard-World Comic-Con in Richmond Virginia.  The event was held in The Greater Richmond Convention Center from Friday, September 9th-Sunday, September 11th.  Below you can read all the great takeaways from the event.

Atmosphere:

Wizard-World had a family-friendly feel to it.  Not that other Cons do not cater to families, but the layout of the booths, activities, and Cosplayers all seemed to reflect that feel.  There were a good number of families there, many who came in Cosplay together, which was awesome to see the love of the genre passed down from generation to generation.  

Continuing with the family-friendly tone, everything associated with the convention was on one floor, much like Hero's-Con, but in a smaller area.  The set-up of the booths were sectioned into categories for the most part (comics, merchandise, clothing, gaming, celebrities, etc.), which were easy to navigate.

Of the three Flarrowverse series on The CW last season, DC's Legends of Tomorrow was the most fun, just for the sake of being fun.

Yet it also didn't pull back from some pretty dramatic stuff, like leaving people behind in time or killing them outright.

There is certainly room for improvement going into DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, and this is where we'd start. Take a look!

1. More Characters are Given Meatier Storylines With a cast as big as that of Legends of Tomorrow, it's easy for some characters to get lost in the shuffle. There will always be standouts, but the writers have to work really hard to balance that by writing stories that are just as meaty for every character on board the Waverider. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow ends its first season on a deft, compelling cliffhanger that opens a number of possibilities. The finale itself, as per usual for the show, does a few things well and almost everything else poorly. The primary thing it does do well is jettison the three weakest characters (whom I have been vocally requesting killed off for most of the show’s run), namely: Savage, Kendra, and Carter.

Yet even that comes with a caveat, because after an initial mishandling of Kendra’s character early in the season from the writers, and uncomfortable acting from Ciara Renee, the show gradually but very thoroughly turned Kendra around and made her a well-rounded, interesting, sweet and empowered character,...

Legends Of Tomorrow’s season 1 finale delivers a time-jumping face-off with Vandal Savage, and a big tease of things to come...

The first season of Legends Of Tomorrow has come to an end. Looking back, it’s been something of a mixed bag featuring loads of big ideas and plenty of great performances alongside lapses of logic and some major superhero ineptitude. (Remember when Rip admitted he’d screw over everyone to save his family? Or when a nuke went off in Russia and The Waverider crew just wandered off?)

The finale episode carried on in this vein, with another huge-but-not-very-well-executed sci-fi concept being lobbed at this mostly likeable band of characters. We’ve spent all season building up to a showdown in 2166, only to find out now that Savage doesn’t actually want to rule the future at all. He wants to destroy it,...

The Legends of Tomorrow take Savage on one last time (or rather, three last times) in the season finale, "Legendary." In order to stop his latest plan, the team must kill him three times in three different times. Meanwhile, when they return to 2016, Sara finds out about her sister's death and has to face that she can't change it. And just as everyone (without Kendra and Carter) is about to set out on a new mission, someone new shows up with a warning.

Legends of Tomorrow has had a difficult time finding its footing throughout the season. One of the disadvantages with this show compared to Arrow or The Flash is the lack of a direct source material for the writers to reference. Never once in the DC comic realm has this combination of characters been put together, so this show really had to start from scratch. The main struggle for the show has always been the balance of character arcs. Overall this episode compared to the rest of the season was one of the best. If you were to look at some of the stronger episodes this season they all have a commonality of very little screen time for Kendra or Carter. These two have been the toughest for writers to get the audience to care for.

The CW has released the first official images from next week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and they feature the unexpected return of Chronos. One of the show’s biggest twists came when we learned that it was Heat Wave inside that armour, but he’s since been reformed, so what leads him to return to that role is hard to say.

Before you know it, our favorite DC TV shows will have wrapped for the season and we will be left with a summer of repeats to hold us over. Luckily for us, we still have a few weeks left of superhero goodness and The CW has now revealed a glimpse into the future with these official descriptions of upcoming episodes of Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Let us first take a look at the twenty-first episode of Arrow’s fourth season, which is titled “Monument Point.” Directed by Kevin Tancharoen and written by Speed Weed & Jenny Lynn, this installment will see the return of The Calculator and air on May 11.

The time masters police force needs a big overhaul. So far in one season we have seen the Time Master Council send bounty hunters on three different occasions to go after Rip Hunter and the crew. With the bounty hunters are 0 for 3 trying to take down Rip, I think it’s safe to say that the Time Council needs to really think about who they send next.

The introduction of The Pilgrim was a nice addition that I wish hadn’t been ended with this episode. It’s a shame that she was destroyed as the plot line for this episode could’ve easily been the plot for the first half of Season 2. Something the showrunners and writers of this show, The Flash, and Arrow have a problem doing is the quickly killing off some villains who could have multi-episode arcs. This week on DC Legends of Tomorrow we got an interesting development of what would happen if one or more of the team members were stranded in a certain time period. Carrying over from last episode Kronos makes an attack on the Wave Rider leaving Sara, Kendra, and Ray stuck in 1958. For two years those three characters grew different perspectives on how to handle their new lives. Ray using his technology from his suit to create a rescue beacon was holding out hope of being rescued by the team. Kendra had accepted her new life in 1958 and began converting to her new lifestyle. Sara seemed the most lost out the three basically writing off any rescue from the team and going back to her old lifestyle with the League of Assassins. The remainder of this episode focused on the backstory of Kronos.

When I first heard that Matt Nable was going to guest as his Arrow-originating Ra’s al Ghul in an episode of Legends Of Tomorrow, I assumed that he would be the main baddy that week. It was a pleasant rug-pull, then, to find that Left Behind was just as much about Chronos as it was about the League Of Assassins.

Let’s start with the biggest thing: Chronos is Micky Rory, who’s swapped his fascination with fire for a burning desire for vengeance. He’s so peeved about being abandoned by Leonard that he’s plotting to force Captain Cold into repeatedly watching his sister get murdered as revenge. Yikes. This was the heaviest...

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is the latest superhero action show apart of the CW’s line-up, featuring a team of time traveling misfits from both Arrow and The Flash franchises. The CW has released the first official images from the next episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and while it’s been quite some time since Brandon Routh played Superman, he’s looking a lot like Clark Kent in the gallery above. However, he’s not back to being the Man of Steel; instead, Ray Palmer is just getting used to some new surroundings.

The CW has today released the official description for the April 7th episode of Legends of Tomorrow, and it reveals that the team’s quest to bring down Vandal Savage will take a very unexpected turn when Rip Hunter puts a difficult and divisive decision in front of them in exchange for bringing them one step closer to stopping the villain.

Legends of Tomorrow is taking a short break until the end of the month, and The CW has now released a first look at what’s to come when the show returns. With some members of the team left behind in the past, they’ve been left with no other choice than to embark on new lives. The rest, meanwhile, look to be going through hell to retrieve their teammates.

Legends Of Tomorrow mounts another ill-thought-out attack on Vandal Savage this week, in a 1958 adventure that was otherwise pretty good…

1.8 Night Of The Hawk

Okay, let’s get this bit of housekeeping/complaining out of the way first: Night Of The Hawk was yet another Legends Of Tomorrow episode that culminated in a botched opportunity to bring down Vandal Savage. Ray blasted the immortal tyrant out of a window and then, for all we know, the Waverider crew just wandered off and left Savage to regroup once again.

I know that capturing the villain and putting them in a cage has already been done recently by Skyfall, The Avengers and Jessica Jones, and that Vandal Savage obviously can’t be properly killed until the season finale for plotting reasons. But still, couldn’t the writers come up with something else to do with...

DC's Legends of Tomorrow headed to 1958 in episode 8, "Night of the Hawk," in another attempt to stop Vandal Savage. But in doing so, the team ended up having to also deal with issues of race and sexuality, as well as Savage's experiments. Then, when they were ready to leave, Chronos attacked the Waverider, and Sara, Ray and Kendra were shocked to see the ship take off without them.

The CW has released the official synopsis for the ninth episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which is titled “Left Behind.” What looks to make this episode special is that the series once again takes advantage its ability to crossover with other DC shows that the network currently airs. In this case, it is Arrow.

Matt Nable’s portrayal of the deadly and cunning villain known as Ra’s al Ghul during Arrow’s third season left many fans stunned, including myself. Not only was the characterization of the League of Assassins’ leader spot on, but the show was also unafraid to embrace the mystical nature of the character, acknowledging that he has lived for centuries thanks to the healing waters of the Lazarus Pit. This was something that was deliberately omitted from the character’s first live action appearance in Batman Begins.

When they discover a string of murders which they suspect Savage to be behind, Professor Stein and Sara go undercover at a psychiatric hospital where Savage is working as a doctor. Meanwhile, Ray and Kendra pretend to be a married couple to gain the neighborhood's trust and sparks fly for Sara when she meets a nurse named Lindsay. The CW has released a fun clip from the eighth episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. The clip includes a Smallville Easter egg and amusingly takes a shot at Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

The episode follows the heroes as they travel back in time to the 1950s to search for Vandal Savage. When they get there they find him posing as a doctor at a hospital under the name of Curtis Knox. Knox is the name of the villain in Smallville who was played by Dean Cain. He was an immortal doctor previously meant to be Vandal Savage, but the studio wouldn't let the Smallville producers use the name.

As for the Hall H jab, while taking a tour of the hospital White Canary looks down a hallway and asks what is down there. She gets the following reply:

Last night’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow shed some light on Rip Hunter’s origin story and pitted his team against a gang of space pirates, but things will take an even more unique turn in next week’s instalment of The CW series when they pay a visit to the 1950s.

Billed as the midseason finale (when the show will return hasn’t been made clear), “Night of the Hawk” looks like it’s going to play out much differently than expected, especially as this time period’s Vandal Savage has yet to come in contact with the Legends of Tomorrow.
