Luke Jaden has unveiled the ensemble cast for his indie Animals of the Land, which he wrote and will direct later this summer in Michigan.
Warrior Nun and Killing Eve actor Andrea Tivadar, Jord Knotter, Abel Lysenko and newcomer Roan Kyne have nabbed roles in the horror thriller. Animals of the Land follows a family at the beginning of time who live in perfect harmony with Mother Nature, until an act of rebellion unearths a violent force of evil.
That forces the family to make an unbearable sacrifice to restore the cycle of life leading to the downfall of creation.
Tivadar, the only woman in the movie’s main cast, will play Willow, the family’s mother, while Knotter plays the father, Clay. Kyne nabbed the role of the oldest son, River, while Lysenko will play the youngest son, Rye.
Tivadar and Knotter earlier appeared together in the sci-fi action...

"The rules are the rules." Orion Pictures + FilmBuff have revealed an intense trailer for the indie film Go North, a post-apocalyptic adventure about some kids who try to escape the "Lord of the Flies" community they're living in. Starring a young cast including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Jacob Lofland (from Mud), Sophie Kennedy Clark, Joshua Close, Derek Brandon, Joe Cipriano, Ele Bardha, Atif Hashwi, and James Bloor. This is another one of those movies about a "catastrophic event" in the near future that wipes out everyone. Except this time it apparently spares all the teenagers and children, who have created their own communities to survive. But of course, it's not the kind of world everyone wants to live in. Enjoy. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Ogens' Go North, direct from YouTube: In the aftermath of an unknown catastrophe, a community left with zero living adults has descended into a modern-day Lord of the Flies,...

An arson insurance scam attempt gone tragically wrong leaves low-rent criminal Elvis Martini (Nickola Shreli) with little to hold onto besides his young daughter Lena (Ava Simony) in Cash Only. Unfortunately, he also has little to provide her despite two years having passed since the incident. Money woes mount as Albanian bookies who’ve given him the benefit of the doubt for too long seek what’s owed and the bank threatens to foreclose on his five-unit apartment complex—his only means of income (when his tenants pay). He and Lena have four weeks to procure funds before they’re on the streets so the drive to squeeze his squatters for rent intensifies until Elvis’ surveillance cameras expose how one resident is stashing more than enough cash to ease his struggle for good.
You’d think one petty criminal would know that stealing from another inevitably means the bigger, badder...

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
African Cats – Samuel L. Jackson (Narration)
Deep Gold – Bebe Pham, Jaymee Ong, Michael Gleissner
Madea’s Big Happy Family – Tyler Perry, Loretta Devine, Bow Wow
Water for Elephants – Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
Movie of the Week
Water for Elephants
The Stars: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
The Plot: A veterinary student (Pattinson) abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.
The Buzz: This period piece looks to be a well put together romantic drama. I enjoyed Pattinson’s general vibe in the trailer; thankfully a far cry from his brooding ham-bake of the Twilight films. Witherspoon is winsome, I typically love her in her more dramatic pieces — aside from the laborious Vanity Fair. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of on-screen magic this pair can conjure up. Happy to see Christolph Waltz again,...

Director Chris Fisher talks about Street Kings 2: Motor City, working in Detroit, his new projects and much more
Director Chris Fisher is one of those directors that has found a niche directing in both film and television. He has directed features such as Dirty and S. Darko along with TV episodes for such programs as Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Hawaii Five-0. He directed all those episodes between 2009's S. Darko and his latest movie, Street Kings 2: Motor City, which hits the shelves on Blu-ray and DVD on April 19. Much like S. Darko, Street Kings 2: Motor City is a movie that is much better than the "straight-to-dvd" tag often indicates, with a stellar cast (Ray Liotta and Shawn Hatosy) and a solid story. I had the chance to speak with Chris Fisher over the phone recently about his new movie, and here's what he had to say.

Actress/stuntwoman Zoe Bell discusses her role in Game of Death, working with Wesley Snipes, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters and more
Zoe Bell got her big acting break in Quentin Tarantino's half of Grindhouse, Death Proof, but she had originally impressed Quentin Tarantino much earlier than that. She portrayed the stunt double for Uma Thurman in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, which lead to her role in Death Proof and a double-threat career as both a talented actress and stunt woman. Her latest acting performance is in the new action-adventure Game of Death, which just hit the shelves on Blu-ray and DVD on February 15. I recently had the chance to speak with this versatile actress over the phone about Game of Death, and here's what she had to say.
