Via The Hollywood Reporter, the latest installment of the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise has been greenlit at Nickelodeon. Officially titled Avatar: Seven Havens, the series has been confirmed for a 26-episode run and will follow a new Avatar, following the original series' Aang and sequel starring Korra. Notably, original Avatar creators Michael Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko are returning for the new series after limited involvement with the live-action. Avatar: Seven Havens will be split across two 13-episode 'Books.'

Nickelodeon has greenlit an animated series set in the world of its beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender. The new show, titled Avatar: Seven Havens, has a 26-episode order and will follow a new Avatar. The series will be the third in the Avatar-verse, following the original show and The Legend of Korra.

The announcement is timed to the 20th anniversary of the original series’ debut on Feb. 21, 2005. Nickelodeon will also mark the anniversary with new YouTube content, in-person experiences and books.

Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko are behind Seven Havens as well. The new 2D animated series will consist of 26 half-hour episodes spread across two seasons, or Books 1 & 2 in “Avatar” style. News of the pickup comes as “Last Airbender” prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with the original show having debuted on Feb. 21, 2005.

Part One of the two-part crossover was released back in April, following Team Rwby as they partner up wiht the Justice League after the latter had been turned into teenage versions of themselves in Remnant. Part Two, which releases digitally on Oct. 17 followed by a 4K Uhd and Blu-ray release on Oct. 31, will see Team Rwby and the Justice League team back up in an all-new environment to take on a much more powerful Grimm. Justice League x Rwby: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One arrives on digital, 4K and Blu-ray in the spring. Between the live action reboot of Mortal Kombat and my growing appreciation of the animated Batman films it was pretty much a given that I would check out another of Warner’s animated offerings, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms begins with a couple fleeing through deserted streets before being confronted by a trio of nasty looking creatures. They kill the couple but Raiden (Dave B. Mitchell; Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) arrives in time to save their baby whom the mother names Liu Kang with her dying breath.

We’re barely a minute in and already there’s a decapitation and a pair of eyes exploding from their sockets.

Scorpion from Mortal Kombat goes after Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes in the new animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, and crossovers don't get much more bizarre than this. Known for pulling in his enemies with a harpoon before roasting the flesh off their bones with his demonic fire breath, Scorpion is perhaps the last character any of us expected to tussle with everybody's favorite cartoon duck. Still, with Warner Bros. behind the new movie, the door was opened for Daffy to make a cameo of sorts at the start of the movie.

Moviegoers don’t primarily recognize Warner Brothers Animation for their cleave-and-dismember content, but after Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, that may change.

Ethan Spaulding’s reboot of Midway’s fatality-fueled video game series relishes its mature rating right out the gate. Everything is not awesome in Hanzo Hasashi’s (Patrick Seitz) world, as rival assassins ruthlessly murder everyone in the warrior’s village. Hasashi’s warpath retribution tears out spinal columns, cascades oceans of blood, and pulverizes through an array of gasp-worthy finishers that redefine hand-drawn violence. Spaulding’s introduction of Hasashi – aka Scorpion – kickstarts the film’s first few minutes with the infernally dark, combat-rich adaptation of Mortal Kombat that live-action films have yet to summon. Let them fight, indeed.

With an opening reminiscent of The Bride’s Crazy 88 massacre in Kill Bill: Volume 1, Scorpion’s Revenge is certifiably not messing around. Nor does underworld fists-and-freakshow action relent.

Scorpion has sworn revenge in Mortal Kombat Legends, and that can only mean one thing… blood. Lots and lots of blood.

Next month, Warner Bros. Warner Bros. has revealed the release details for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. This is the upcoming R-rated, animated adaptation of the beloved video game franchise. The studio recently released an action-packed trailer. Now, they've revealed when fans can see the carnage for themselves along with the first poster for this exciting home release.

The R-Rated animated Mortal Kombat movie is set to arrive on Digital starting April 12 and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on April 28. The 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack retails for $39.99, the Blu-ray Combo Pack goes for $24.98 and the DVD will run $19.98.

Warner Bros. is working on an animated R-rated Mortal Kombat movie.

Warner Bros. Animation has revealed an upcoming animated movie based on the Mortal Kombat franchise called Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.

The movie will star Joel McHale as Johnny Cage and Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade. It's set to be directed by Ethan Spaulding and is based on a script by Jeremy Adams.

An all-new animated Mortal Kombat movie is reportedly in the works from Warner Bros. Animation.
