After years of morsels and rumors, delays on the upcoming animated "Aang: The Last Airbender" feature film, and well-kept secrets on behalf of Avatar Studios, we finally know, in official terms, what the next animated series in the franchise will be about. The show is now called "Avatar: Seven Havens," and it looks to mark a major departure from its predecessors, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "The Legend of Korra," in several ways.
The official synopsis relayed by Nickelodeon describes the show as being "set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra -- but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization's last strongholds collapse."

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match is a throwback to '80s action films, inspired by classics like Big Trouble in Little China and Lethal Weapon. The movie loosely fits into the larger Mortal Kombat universe, incorporating elements of the multiverse concept seen in Marvel and DC comics. Joel McHale delivers a pitch-perfect performance as Johnny Cage, bringing wit, sarcasm, and physical presence to the beloved character in this Elseworlds-style story.
Mortal Kombat goes full '80s in Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, which tackles Johnny Cage's R-rated origin story in animated form. Written by video game co-creator Ed Boon and directed by Ethan Spaulding, the latest outing in the world of Mortal Kombat focuses on Johnny's (voiced by Joel McHale) Hollywood fame and eventual rise to becoming a legendary combatant. Jennifer Gray co-stars in the film, and her character's disappearance is the catalyst for his journey, alongside Kelly Hu as Ashrah.

As the Mortal Kombat franchise reboots with the release of the new fighting game Mortal Kombat 1, the line of animated movies goes back to the '80s with the new film Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match. A departure from the tone and animation style from the first three movies in the series, the movie places Johnny Cage in the spotlight for a more overt action comedy. With its steady stream of '80s action movie tropes and style to burn, Cage Match may catch audiences off-guard with its presentation as the most unabashedly weird entry in the series.
Set in the '80s, the movie has Johnny Cage looking to break free from B-movies and become a bonafide Hollywood action hero amidst all the glitz and glamor in the City of Angels. Johnny's wish comes true in a way he never imagined as he's drawn into the machinations of a...

Between the live action reboot of Mortal Kombat and my growing appreciation of the animated Batman films it was pretty much a given that I would check out another of Warner’s animated offerings, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms begins with a couple fleeing through deserted streets before being confronted by a trio of nasty looking creatures. They kill the couple but Raiden (Dave B. Mitchell; Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) arrives in time to save their baby whom the mother names Liu Kang with her dying breath.
We’re barely a minute in and already there’s a decapitation and a pair of eyes exploding from their sockets.

Today brings a brand new trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms. This is set to follow in the footsteps of last year's Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, which brought the R-rated goods from the popular video game series to life before the live-action reboot. Now, we have a bloody-looking sequel that brings back Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and more to save the universe.
The Mortal Kombat trailer wastes no time, kicking off with an intense battle. We then get into the meat of it. Shao Kahn and Raiden come face-to-face in an attempt to end the ongoing war. Their arrangement? One final Mortal Kombat with the highest stakes imaginable. We then get into a series of action shots. Fight after fight. Bloodshed. Fists flying. Catchphrases. All of the staples of the franchise are present and accounted for.

Scorpion from Mortal Kombat goes after Daffy Duck from Looney Tunes in the new animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, and crossovers don't get much more bizarre than this. Known for pulling in his enemies with a harpoon before roasting the flesh off their bones with his demonic fire breath, Scorpion is perhaps the last character any of us expected to tussle with everybody's favorite cartoon duck. Still, with Warner Bros. behind the new movie, the door was opened for Daffy to make a cameo of sorts at the start of the movie.
During the animation sequence for the Warner Bros. Animation logo, Daffy Duck can be seen acting mischievously, bouncing around and making lots of noise. The cartoon duck learns quickly enough that this perhaps wasn't the best movie for him to try these shenanigans, as Scorpion himself bursts through the Warner Bros. logo moments later to utter his classic catch phrase,...

Moviegoers don’t primarily recognize Warner Brothers Animation for their cleave-and-dismember content, but after Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, that may change.
Ethan Spaulding’s reboot of Midway’s fatality-fueled video game series relishes its mature rating right out the gate. Everything is not awesome in Hanzo Hasashi’s (Patrick Seitz) world, as rival assassins ruthlessly murder everyone in the warrior’s village. Hasashi’s warpath retribution tears out spinal columns, cascades oceans of blood, and pulverizes through an array of gasp-worthy finishers that redefine hand-drawn violence. Spaulding’s introduction of Hasashi – aka Scorpion – kickstarts the film’s first few minutes with the infernally dark, combat-rich adaptation of Mortal Kombat that live-action films have yet to summon. Let them fight, indeed.
With an opening reminiscent of The Bride’s Crazy 88 massacre in Kill Bill: Volume 1, Scorpion’s Revenge is certifiably not messing around. Nor does underworld fists-and-freakshow action relent.

PSA: The pale-eyed, undead ninja Hanzo Hasashi (Aka Scorpion) has sworn revenge against Shang Tsung, so brace yourself for a supercharged brawl the likes of which we’ve never seen before.
That is, in a nutshell, the core plot powering Warner’s animated Mortal Kombat movie (full title: Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge), which is now just two weeks away from its digital debut.
And so, in an effort to fuel excitement, the Powers That Be have unleashed a suitably graphic, R-rated clip, introducing us to franchise legend Johnny Cage – voiced in this instance by Community and Stargirl alum Joel McHale – and the adventure that awaits.
Helmed by Ethan Spaulding, whose credits include multiple episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Scorpion’s Revenge revolves around the “once-in-a-generation tournament between the champions of Outworld and Earthrealm – a competition that will ultimately determine the fate of Earth and all its citizens.”

"Why would I fight for you?" Warner Bros has released the official trailer for an animated movie titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, the latest "Mortal Kombat Legends" offering. But this one is particularly unique. It is an R-rated animated movie, given that rating for "extreme violence," "bad language" and "a bloody good time." The iconic fighter Scorpion is given a chance by a sorcerer to return as a specter and get revenge for his family that was killed in a genocide. Featuring the voices of Patrick Seitz as Scorpion, Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade, Jordan Rodrigues, Steve Blum, Artt Butler, and Darin De Paul. We probably won't ever see another live-action Mortal Kombat movie, but this may be better than that would ever be. Holy hell! What a trailer. Check it out below. Next month, Warner Bros. Animation and NetherRealm Studios will premiere a feature-length animated film entitled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge, and it’s every bit as gruesome as one would expect from a franchise known (and indeed celebrated) for its blood, gore, and toe-curling fatalities.
