Gareth Edwards' new film in the "Jurassic Park/World" series hasn't yet been given an official title, but — according to a report in Variety — may likely be called "Jurassic City." It will be the seventh film to be based on Michael Crichton's 1990 adventure novel.
The new film will be written by longtime blockbuster scribe David Koepp, and is being described as "a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island." The Island is presumably Isla Nublar, the fictional Costa Rican island where Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" (1993) took place.
It may be generous to call the story "completely fresh," as "characters trapped on an island with dinosaurs" is also the plot of "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Jurassic Park III," and "Jurassic World." Only "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World: Dominion" don't take place entirely on a remote,...

Sean Cain, director of 2017s CGI monster movie Terror Birds, is back behind the camera for another monster movie of sorts, only in Dead By Dawn the monsters are all-too-human. The film tells the story of Lulu (Drew Lindsey Mitchell), a young woman who escapes an abusive relationship, only to end up in the ride-share of a creepy perv dressed as a clown! Next thing we know Lulu is banging down the door of Dylan (Kelcey Watson), a suicidal man in a remote cabin. Swearing to help, Dylan must protect Lulu from three killers and their sadistic games….
However we quickly learn that the trio of psychos outside the cabin are even more sick, twisted and dangerous than they appear. Especially the short-fused Neil...

Bird-watching isn't normally the most dangerous of activities, but when the birds in question are massive and carnivorous, things could get messy. That's exactly what happens in our exclusive clip from Mar Vista Entertainment's Terror Birds, arriving on VOD formats March 8. This scene shows that these ten-foot birds are not to be trifled with, as a group of college students try to escape with their lives.
While funding an archaeological site in the Caribbean, Harvey Sullivan (Greg Evigan) learns of a legend about monstrous birds living on two remote, uninhabited islands. Making the journey to investigate, he discovers a ten-foot bird on each island, birds that belong to the species titanis-large, flightless, carnivorous birds long thought to be extinct by nearly two million years and called Terror Birds. Capturing the birds, Harvey brings them to East Texas to a ranch that contains an aviary.
He hires paleontologist, Denise Slater (Leslie Easterbrook), to research the birds.

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Ten shopping days before Christmas, and people are being attacked by zombies, but we better not use the zed word because no one else does. Two cops roll up on some deadheads and one tries to gnaw on Jackson’s (Andy Hopper) foot. Thankfully his partner Frank Talbot (Jack Forcinito, not Lon Chaney) shoots his toe off and kills the zombie. Hustle back to Jackson’s second floor apartment and Frank’s wife, Sarah (Nadine Stenovitch) is there fighting off more zombies.

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Silent Night, Zombie Night Legendary scream queen Felissa Rose, who so memorably played Angela in both Sleepaway Camp & Return to Sleepaway Camp, tackles the zombie sub-genre of horror as a gun totting bad-ass who blows out some zombie brains in Sean Cain's (Someone's Knocking at the Door) Silent Night, Zombie Night. The film, which co-stars Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2), Lew Temple (The Devil's Rejects), Andy Hopper (Before Turning the Gun) & Jack Forcinito (Breath of Hate), premiered back around Christmas of 2009. Now it appears that Silent Night, Zombie Night has distribution and will be making its way to DVD, finally!
Coming to DVD on Sept 20th in the Us and Canada, Silent Night, Zombie Night takes place a week before Christmas as a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the walking dead. On the brink of severing ties with both his wife and longtime partner, L.

While putting together our Indie Horror Month coverage, we decided to reach out to some of our favorite independent filmmakers working today to hear from them on what some of their favorite independent genre flicks are.
One of the first we spoke with is writer/director/producer Sean Cain. Cain hit the scene in 2006 with his feature film debut Naked Beneath the Water and since then has gone on to direct Silent Night, Zombie Night and the upcoming Breath of Hate (which is currently in post-production) as well as producing other gritty genre flicks including Someone’s Knocking on the Door and Warning!!! Pedophile Released.
Here’s some of Cain’s favorite indie genre flicks:
1. Shatter Dead
As a fledgling filmmaker, this zombie opus was a tremendous influence on me…twice. The first time was in 1995, having finished my first film, Naked Beneath the Water, I followed Scooter McCrae’s...

With director Sean Cain busy putting the finishing touches on Breath of Hate, he also checked in with Dread Central to give us an exclusive look at the brand new poster for the flick, designed by Jason Beam.
When asked about the current production status on the project, Cain said “We are about to sign a few amazing artists to have songs in Breath of Hate, and then we just have to finish up the 5.1 mix. All of this should be finished by the end of this month so our rep has been busy working on securing distribution for the film in the meantime. We’re aiming for a limited theatrical release as well.”

I just finished screening this movie entitled Silent Night, Zombie Night from director Sean Cain. The film co-starred legendary scream queen diva Felissa Rose along with Jack Forcinito, Andy Hopper, Nadine Stenovitch, Lew Temple, Vernon Wells, Sara Tomko, Luke Y. Thompson, Ricardo Gray, John Karyus, Domiziano Arcangeli and Tim Muskatell. Silent Night Zombie Night takes place a week before Christmas, as a viral outbreak turns the citizens of Los Angeles into the feral undead. On the brink of breaking up with both his wife and partner, L.A.P.D. officer Frank Talbot finds himself trapped in a apartment with them. As death closes in, they try not only to survive, but work around the fact both men love the same woman. One thing kept popping up in my mind as I watched the film, the three leads of this film definitely have the presence, the charisma, the acting chops,...

On October 2nd the third annual GoreZone International Film Festival got under way at Leicester Square’s Prince Charles Cinema; and for the first time ever, Dread was on the scene to check it out. Our report follows along with condensed reviews of six of the films shown over the weekend.
Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, Breath of Hate, Hyenas, Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer, New Terminal Hotel, Darfur, and Devil's Playground are all included, but first a recap of the event and awards show.
In the face of fellow Leicester Square-based festival and horror heavy hitter, Film4 Frightfest, GoreZone (or Gz, as the magazine has rebranded) would appear to be the underdog. Having experienced the festival first-hand, however, it’s pleasing to discover a level of intimacy and audience connection that is easily lost amongst the hustle and bustle of many larger profile fests, bolstered by...

Ezra Buzzington, you may remember him from a handful of movies- Ghost World, Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes, or Art School Confidential. Lately, however, Ezra Buzzington has been leaving his mark on the indie horror world starring in the drug and rape fueled Someone's Knocking At The Door and the thought provoking Breath of Hate.
I had the chance to ask him a few questions about these projects. Here's what he had to say.

I've been called the Dennis Hopper of underground films. But actually, I'd probably take roles he would shy away from. There are so many low budget zombie movies out there. A lot of them are terrible, but some of them succeed despite their low production value because they compensate with a clever script or great characters. When you’re a fan of zombie film, you have to accept that you are going to have to weed through a lot of crap in order to find a true gem. I wouldn’t go so far as to call Silent Night, Zombie Night a gem, but it’s not half bad either.
Silent Night, Zombie Night is a decent movie for two reasons. First of all, the main character is a total asshole. Before the zombie apocalypse, police officer Frank Talbot’s wife was going to leave him and his best friend/partner was going to drop him.

One actor who we love around these parts is Ezra Buzzington. Recently seen in Chad Ferrin's Someone's Knocking at the Door and soon to be seen in Sean Cain's Breath of Hate, the guy knows how to stay busy and keep the gore flowing. We just got word that one of his next films will be of the living dead variety! Oh happy day! Get ready, zombie fans, to be Dug Up!
Dug Up, directed by Dustin Rikert and written by Rikert and William Shockley, is a horror/comedy zombie mashup that features Buzzington playing a mysterious wild card character who will be featured heavily in the sequel already planned for shooting later in the year.
“My head is in a mohawk right now for this part, says Buzzington of his role in the film. "I might keep it like this since everybody keeps hitting on me and offering me drugs.
