Last night was the second Emmy awards ceremony of 2024 (after the Hollywood labor strikes delayed the 2023 show to January of this year), and the 76th annual awards show came complete with history-making wins, upsets, and more. But as the dust settles and viewers shift their attention to what’s next, the big question on entertainment fans’ minds is what we can expect next from the night’s big winners.
Here is a rundown of what may be next for these Emmy-winning shows, according to information on IMDb.
Shōgun
The night’s big winner in the Drama category not only set a record with the most Emmys won by a show in a single season with 18 wins, but also celebrated some historic achievements. Anna Sawai became the first Asian woman to win in the Lead Actress in a Drama category, and Hiroyuki Sanada joined Lee Jung-Jae (“Squid Game”) as the second Asian actor to win for Lead Actor in a Drama.
Will “Shōgun” be back for Season 2?
In May, FX announced they are working with the late author James Clavell’s estate to develop and produce two additional seasons of what was originally a limited series. With the project still in the development stage it’s too early to know when Season 2 will even go into production.
Hacks
Three was the magic number for “Hacks.” With its third nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show upset last year’s winner “The Bear.” It was also the third consecutive win for Jean Smart in the Lead Actress in a Comedy category.
Will “Hacks” get a fourth season?
Max renewed “Hacks” after the Season 3 finale, and co-creator Lucia Aniello wrapped her acceptance speech for Outstanding Comedy Series last night by saying, “We have to go because we start shooting the next season in five days.” Expect Season 4 to release sometime in 2025.
The Bear
“The Bear” didn’t match the success of the previous ceremony, but it still had a strong showing. Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach won for the second consecutive time in the Lead Actor and Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series categories, respectively. And Liza Colón-Zayas became the first Latina to win in the Supporting Actress in a Comedy category.
Will “The Bear” return for Season 4?
Season 3’s conclusion more or less confirmed the show would return, and it’s been reported that Seasons 3 and 4 were shot back-to-back. If that’s the case, expect the new season to drop next summer.
Baby Reindeer
The surprise Netflix hit took home six awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Supporting Actress for Jessica Gunning, and Lead Actor and Writing awards for creator Richard Gadd.
Will there be another season of "Baby Reindeer?"
It’s not unheard of for a limited series to continue, but it’s a pretty safe bet that “Baby Reindeer” will be a one-and-done series. But if you’re wondering what Richard Gadd has on deck, he’s writing and co-producing the series “Lions,” set to stream on Max. Casting has not been announced for the drama series, so it’s unclear whether we’ll see Gadd in front of the camera on this project.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach is being toasted for his turn on “The Bear.”
The actor, whose other TV credits include “Girls,” won the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy for his role on hit series “The Bear.”
Moss-Bachrach’s co-star Lionel Boyce was also nominated in the Supporting Actor category for “The Bear,” along with Paul W. Downs (“Hacks”), Paul Rudd (“Only Murders in the Building”), Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”), and Bowen Yang (“Saturday Night Live”).
This is Moss-Bacharach’s second Emmy; he previously won the 2023 award for the FX series. Moss-Bacharach plays Richie, the cousin to Jeremy Allen White’s lead character Carmy.
Moss-Bacharach told The Guardian that the show “invigorated” his love for acting.

In producing Scott Cooper’s upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, “Deliver Me from Nowhere” starring Jeremy Allen-White, producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein was met with a problem. Obviously the film would shoot mostly in Springsteen’s native New Jersey, but they also wanted to shoot some in Los Angeles. New Jersey though has dedicated up to $758 million to get movies to film in the state. California offers less than half that. Their options were limited, and their choice was clear.
“We shoot a very short period of time in Los Angeles largely because of the expense to shoot here,” Goldsmith-Vein told IndieWire. “We can’t get a tax credit in there. There’s just no incentives for us to do it. It makes it very difficult for filmmakers and so we are shooting in another state.”

What might Jeremy Allen White and Bruce Springsteen be texting about? On Thursday, White – who is set to play the “Born in the USA” legend in the biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere — told Variety that he and Springsteen had “texted and emailed” and may soon meet at The Boss’ show in London this weekend.
“I’m really excited to see him perform,” White said, adding with a smile that Springsteen texts “like a boss.”
Just last month, Allen had told the outlet that he was “trying to have a bit...

The first episode of The Bear’s third season immediately sets the tone for what will follow, weaving together a few brief looks at the aftermath of the disastrous opening night of Carmine Berzatto’s (Jeremy Allen-White) new fine-dining restaurant. The episode, “Tomorrow,” strikes a meditative note as Carmine tries to recenter himself, standing in contrast to the show’s characteristic orchestration of grease-splattered shouting matches. This 35-minute stream-of-conscious montage seemingly suggests that the ambitious and irascible young chef should focus a bit more on the people who’ve helped shape him.
On the other side of this opportunity for reconsideration, though, Carmine seems to mostly reach the wrong conclusions. In episode two, “Next,” he imposes the policy that the menu will change every day, against the advice of his sous chef, Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), his maître d’ and cousin, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and his general manager and sister, Natalie (Abby Elliott). This decision,...

In its first day after release, the third season of FX's critically acclaimed drama "The Bear" has achieved its highest IMDb ratings yet. According to data from the site, Season 3 of "The Bear" currently holds an impressive average rating of 8.98 stars over its 10 episodes.
The Season 3 ratings surpasses the previous season highs of 8.68 for Season 2 and 8.23 for Season 1 (over 8 episodes with 60,800 votes). In its first day after release, the current season only has a total of 2,064 votes cast so far across its 10 episodes. Season 1 accumulated 60K votes for its eight episodes, while Season 2 logged 86K votes over 10 episodes.
The standout episode of Season 3 has been the sixth installment (“Napkins”), which garnered a remarkable 9.6 rating, making it the highest-rated episode of the entire series to date.
Despite the mixed critical reception for the new season, "The Bear" continues to resonate strongly with its dedicated fanbase, as evidenced by the soaring IMDb ratings. Fans have praised the show's gritty and authentic portrayal of the high-pressure culinary world, as well as its exploration of complex family dynamics and personal struggles. The show also cleaned up at the 2023 Emmys, taking home awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White, Supporting Actress for Ayo Edebiri, and Supporting Actor for Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
With so few votes cast this soon after release, the ratings may fluctuate as more fans work their way through the season. Early binge watchers will be happy to know that Seasons 3 and 4 were filmed back-to-back, so a Summer 2025 premiere date can be expected.

“I think for Richie, he’s become aware that there’s a path for him to find purpose and live a maybe fuller life, a richer life, in a way,” Moss-Bachrach said during an appearance on The Daily Show. “But just because he’s aware of that path doesn’t mean that he’s cruising up to the top.”
Moss-Bachrach’s Richie is a hardened Chicagoan turned passionate fine dining host in FX’s The Bear, which stars Jeremy Allen-White and Ayo Edebiri as Carmy and Sydney, two chefs. Richie, a lifelong friend turned “Cousin” of Carmy, struggles to express his emotions, but made strides in a particularly heartfelt season two episode.

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White whipped up a second straight win for best actor in a television comedy at the 2024 Golden Globes.
“I love this show,” White said from the podium, thanking his team on the kitchen-centric FX/Hulu hit. “I love you guys so much. I must have done something right in this life to be in your company.”
Also nominated in the category were Bill Hader (Barry), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).
Last year, White took home the Globe in the category for his work as chef Carmy on the first season of The Bear. Sudeikis prevailed in the category in the two years prior to that for playing the title character on Ted Lasso.
In his acceptance speech last year, White praised his Bear colleagues and said that the show “changed my life.

Christos Nikou’s “Fingernails” challenges the role of technology in modern love stories, with Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed starring as co-workers at a company that specializes in determining people’s soulmates based on their (you’re hearing this right) fingernails. The film first premiered at Telluride.
Buckley plays Anna, a new employee at the Love Institute, where the machines are housed. She starts training with senior instructor Amir (Ahmed), yet Anna is already committed to Ryan (Jeremy Allen White), and the machine has already confirmed they are a perfect match. So why is she developing feelings for Amir?
“Fingernails” is co-written by director Nikou, Stavros Raptis, and Sam Steiner, with Luke Wilson and Annie Murphy also starring.
The film is Nikou’s second feature and first English-language film after making his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed “Apples.” Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is among the producers of “Fingernails,” along with Nikou,...

Even Ayo Adebiri can’t bring herself to watch certain episodes of FX’s surprise smash “The Bear.” We get that, and so does Stephen Colbert.
“The Bear” seemingly came out of nowhere, though IndieWire was a very early adopter. Technically, we may be bigger supporters than Adebiri herself.
“I didn’t watch all the episodes, I think some were kind of hard to watch, if that makes sense,” Adebiri told Colbert on the January 4 “Late Show.”
“There’s massive tension,” Colbert, a fan who had to stop at Episode 7 for a break, offered. The CBS late-night host said he and his wife have yet to return to the program — but not because they don’t like it; they just needed to breathe. That sentiment should check out with pretty much any viewer of the Chicago-based sandwich-shop drama.

Dan Stevens and Alison Brie star in this horror-mystery, which has a nicely tense setup but degenerates into cliche
Initial high hopes are dashed at the third-act stage of this disappointing cabin-in-the-woods horror-mystery in which actor Dave Franco (brother of James) makes his directorial debut, co-writing with mumblecore film-maker Joe Swanberg.
Two couples rent an ocean-front beach house for a luxury weekend getaway: tech entrepreneur Charlie (Dan Stevens) and his partner Michelle (Alison Brie), with Charlie’s brother, Josh (Jeremy Allen White), and Josh’s partner, Mina (Sheila Vand), who is also the co-owner of Charlie’s tech startup. When the foursome arrives, they are instantly nettled by the guy showing them around the property: Taylor (Toby Huss) makes casually racist comments about Mina. And it turns out their ultra-fancy rental has some very strange things about it. Are they being spied on?...

When executive producer John Wells was working on the final season of “The West Wing” in 2006 he recalls having a very “easy” end point because the show began with the first year of Jed Bartlett’s presidential administration and, seven years later, it would be poetic to end with him leaving the office and a new president (Matt Santos) sworn in. Now that Wells is saying goodbye to another long-running, beloved series in Showtime’s “Shameless,” though, things are far more complicated.
“With this, we’re just following people’s lives,” Wells tells Variety of the Gallagher family on the Showtime dramedy. “We just have to walk away from them at some point.”
The premium cable network announced in January that “Shameless'” run would come to an end with its 11th season — a season that was supposed to begin shooting just two months later in March. But when production should have started rolling,...

Things are changing in the South Side.
Showtime on Tuesday dropped the full-length trailer for Shameless Season 11, and it's going to be tough to say goodbye.
There are many big talking points after the trailer, which finds Frank vowing to beat the gentrification of the South Side.
He makes it his mission to make his neighborhood dangerous all over again, but it appears that his plan may prove to be too little, too late.
Meanwhile, Ian and Mickey are still struggling to define their relationship despite getting married.
They need to arrive at a "mutual understanding" of how their marriage will work, but nothing is ever easy for them.
Returning Sunday, Dec. 8, Shameless‘ farewell features returning cast members include William H. Macy (as Frank), Jeremy Allen White (Lip), Kate Miner (Tami), Cameron Monaghan (Ian), Noel Fisher (Mickey), Emma Kenney (Debbie), Ethan Cutkosky (Carl), Christian Isaiah (Liam), Shanola Hampton (V), and...

The final season of Shameless is coming to Showtime this December, and the premium cabler has just dropped the first footage.
It shows the characters at very different stages in life than when we left them on Shameless Season 10.
The final season was originally slated to launch earlier this year, but due to the Covid-19 shutdowns that plagued most TV shows, it was delayed.
As a result, scripts were rewritten to incorporate the pandemic, which makes sense.
If you watch Shameless online, you know the Gallaghers would definitely be affected by the pandemic.
The series has typically brought social issues to the forefront.

All good things must come to an end. All debauched things too. Which may explain how we’re here, staring at the Great Beyond for the Gallagher Brood of Shameless. Aye, two seasons after Emmy Rossum left the series as one of its ostensible lead characters, Fiona Gallagher, the series itself is resuming production and winding down in the age of Covid. That doesn’t mean it won’t go out swinging and drinking though!
