Once known as Dune: The Sisterhood, the TV series Dune: Prophecy, which serves as a prequel to the Dune feature films directed by Denis Villeneuve, started filming in November of 2022, then underwent quite a shake-up in 2023 when the director of the first two episodes, Johan Renck (who executive produced and directed all five episodes of the HBO limited series Chernobyl) decided to leave the project over creative issues, then Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) – who had been cast as one of the show’s lead characters – followed him out the door. Everything has been worked out since then, with Dune: Prophecy on track for a November premiere on both HBO and the Max streaming service… and now we’ve learned that the promotions will begin at New York Comic Con, where attendees will get to experience both a panel and a fan experience.

HBO has just dropped the second teaser trailer for Dune: Prophecy (via SFFGazette.com), the upcoming small screen prequel which we believe is meant to be a standalone story unconnected to Denis Villeneuve's movies.
It's also been confirmed today that the show will premiere this November, so we're now just waiting for an exact date.
While not quite as visually stunning as those big screen adaptations, the show does have the same look and feel even if it's hard to shake the feeling it might end up being "Dune on a budget." Still, we're intrigued by what we see here and, for fans of Frank Herbert and the Sisterhood of Dune, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, this story being told on screen is long-overdue.

Last month, Warner Bros. Discovery shifted three of its highest profile Max Originals – Harry Potter, Lanterns and It prequel Welcome To Derry – to become HBO Originals.
The company is now continuing this shift with the move of The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy.
Both shows will now premiere on HBO as well as launching on its Max streaming service.
It is part of a strategy to rebrand its highest profile titles into HBO Originals, giving them a linear airing on the premium cable network as well as a streaming bow.
When the move was originally unveiled in June, the company said it was not sure whether The Penguin, which is set to premiere in September, and Dune: Prophecy would fall under the new branding but this has now been cleared up.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content shared the first trailer for Dune: Prophecy during today's Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation.
Despite being very much in line with what we've seen from Dune in theaters (albeit with perhaps a few more splashes of colour), the pressure is on this series to live up to Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed movies. This teaser doesn't reveal much, but so far, so good based on what we're seeing.

It didn’t happen at Universal’s presentation, but we finally got a Christopher Nolan announcement at CinemaCon 2024.
On Thursday morning, Paramount Pictures’ President of Domestic Distribution Chris Aronson revealed that Nolan’s “Interstellar” will return to theaters on September 27, 2024 in both 70mm and IMAX formats. The re-release is a celebration of the film’s 10-year anniversary. It is probably also — at least somewhat — a continued celebration of Nolan’s Best Picture-winner “Oppenheimer.”
Of course, the “Oppenheimer” victory isn’t for Paramount to tout, and its studio Universal took a brief victory lap (or two) during its own Wednesday afternoon Colosseum presentation. The on-stage champagne-popping split time with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and included a prerecorded message from Nolan. (He did not touch on “Mario.”)
In the package played for a packed house of (mostly) exhibitors, Nolan said he had been “very nervous” about showing “Oppenheimer” footage to the same CinemaCon audience last year.

Exclusive: Max’s Dune prequel series Dune: The Sisterhood is set to relaunch production in Budapest “any day now” and will continue throughout the course of the WGA and SAG strikes, a source close to the show tells Deadline.
The series thus takes the path of House of the Dragon and Industry, given that, like those HBO titles, which we reported on earlier in the day, The Sisterhood is an Equity contract production with some from SAG-AFTRA also in the mix. And per guidance from the actors guild stateside, members working under Equity contracts are to “continue to report.”
The Sisterhood resumes production following a November launch, leading into a hiatus that always was planned, our source tells us, to get around winter conditions in Hungary. The show also notably lost director Johan Renck, creator and pilot writer Diane Ademu-John (as co-showrunner) and stars Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma earlier this year,...

Olivia Williams and Jodhi May have been cast in Max’s “Dune: The Sisterhood” (working title) following the exits of previously announced cast members Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma. Henderson departed the series amid “creative changes” made in February, while Varma’s departure was due to scheduling conflicts.
Additionally, Anna Foerster is now set as a director on the series, replacing Johan Renck, who departed at the same time as Henderson.
In November, series creator Diane Ademu-John stepped down as co-showrunner, but she remains involved as executive producer.
Williams will play Tula Harkonnen, while May plays Natalya. Set in the world of “Dune” 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, the series follows the Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit. The prequel is based on the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

Three months ago, we heard that James Wan is developing a series adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon, for the Peacock streaming service. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Patrick Brice, whose credits include Creep, Creep 2, and There’s Someone Inside Your House, is set to direct another McCammon adaptation for Paramount Pictures and Temple Hill Entertainment producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who were behind last year’s genre hit Smile. The adaptation they’re working on is called He’ll Come Knocking.
Jordan Goldberg and Alex Paraskevas have written the He’ll Come Knocking screenplay adaptation, telling the story of an ex-con who gets a new job in a revitalized factory town in the hopes of turning around his family’s life, only to soon discover that their idyllic suburban dream requires a terrible sacrifice.

After 64 episodes of television, a feature film and a statue dedication, Aaron Paul has closed the book on Jesse Pinkman.
The Breaking Bad and El Camino star has decided that his two recent appearances on Better Call Saul are the perfect way to bid adieu to the character he’s played since Bad’s pilot shoot in 2007. Paul’s decision makes even more sense on the heels of Albuquerque’s unveiling of two bronze statues that commemorate Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, two fictional characters who turned New Mexico’s largest city into a tourist destination for fans around the world.
“[Jesse Pinkman] will always have a special place inside of me, but I can confidently say that [Better Call Saul] was the last time we’re going to see Pinkman. So it was a nice farewell,” Paul tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Westworld Season 4 Episode 6
Anyone who has ever played video games can empathize with Caleb (Aaron Paul) during “Fidelity,” the sixth episode of the fourth season of Westworld. I was never the kind of person who could sit and do a speed-run of any game, probably because I didn’t have the hand-eye coordination necessary to succeed, and I tend to like to explore games rather than just going from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Give me side quests. Give me Easter eggs. Give me time-sucking distractions. Granted, I’m generally not playing video games in an effort to stay alive, but my video game method looks very similar to the way Caleb slowly builds his way to an attempted escape from Charlotte Hale’s secret facility in Delos’s Manhattan headquarters.
This isn’t Caleb’s first escape attempt, and with every attempted escape,...

HBO has finally revealed the titles and episode descriptions for the first half of”Westworld” Season 3, as well as a new batch of images from the upcoming installment. And for all you fans who love to obsess over Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s puzzle-box sci-fi series, these photos should look like Everything to you.
According to the pay TV channel, the 1-hour, 8-minute Season 3 premiere, which airs Sunday, March 15, is called “Parce Domine.” That title is also the name of a Roman Catholic antiphon that, loosely translated from Latin, means “Spare, Lord, spare your people: Be not angry with us forever.”
But before you go theorizing about what the heck that title implies for Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and company when the show returns, you can also chew on the names of Episodes 302-304, which are, in order, “The Winter Line,” “The Absence of Field” and “The Mother of Exiles.

Programming Update
Thank you, HBO for providing screeners for future weeks, but this reviewer has only seen this week’s episode, so please read ahead knowing that yeah, we have no idea what happens next.
Diagnostic Report
Timeline-wise, it’s a split between the furthest-forward moments we’ve seen, featuring Charlotte trying to recover the data core containing Delos’ most prized information, and several days back, as Dolores’ revolution continues to shake things up (using the mildest terminology possible) inside Westworld… while Charlotte also tries to recover that same data core.
But there are some big reveals along the way, as Bernard’s nature as a host is discovered by Charlotte and other Delos employees and we gain more insight into, for lack of a better term, the immortality experiment that has proven to be a core aspect of Delos’s interest in Westworld and related parks.

Interesting that the seventh installment of HBO’s Westworld Season 2 is called “Les Écorchés,” which means "skinned" or "flayed." The term is usually associated with the anatomical figures presented without skin for educational purposes, one of which is used on promotional posters for the first season of the show. What or whom will be stripped down and exposed in this new episode?

In the featurette Nolan, co-writer Jonathan Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, theoretical physicist/executive producer Kip Thorne, and VFX Supervisor Paul Franklin explain how they went about making for the big screen these regions in space where gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out.
These groundbreaking techniques resulted in surprisingly real findings for the astrophysics community.
Look for our special screening prizepack giveaway early next week.
Here are the reactions from early screenings via Twitter.
