Here it is, folks. No more waiting and no need to cruise around to other parts of the deep, dark Internet. We've got Night of the Pumpkin for you right here in its goopy, seed-filled entirety!
Earlier this week we gave you the heads up on Sideshow Pictures' horror/comedy short Night of the Pumpkin. Unfortunately all we could show then was a shot of the director and star jack o'lantern until the official Internet-wide release. Well, gourdhounds, that release date is upon us, and all you have to do is scroll down to get your pumpkin on!
Synopsis:
It’s All Hallow’s Eve, and geeky Steve and his buddy Cutter are holding a séance in the local cemetery. While foolishly toying with the dark forces of nature, they summon the soul of an ancient demon that possesses their jack o’lantern, which promptly goes on a carnivorous rampage.

If the candy and the costumes and the fact that it's the only time of the year you can scatter bones in your front yard without having the neighbors alert the authorities aren't enough for you to look forward to Halloween, here's a new reason: Sideshow Pictures is promising to deliver a great short film each year, just in time for the holiday ... and the first one, Night of the Pumpkin, is ready to launch.
From reading the synopsis, the film sounds like some kind of splattery combination of Witchboard and Rubber (yeah…wrap your minds around that one). What we can guarantee is plenty of blood along with a gruesome growing gourd with nothing but bad intentions. Okay, I'm curious.
For those who want to join me in checking out this marauding jack-o-lantern, head over to Fangoria.com on October 25 and get your free viewing of the film. After...

Blood Night Blood Night takes elements of all those spooky old ghost stories, behind all those tall tales that you heard and all those outlandish urban legends and mixes into a narrative involving lots and lots and well.... lots of blood and gore, an appealing cast of young kids and a slasher story that helps to make Blood Night one darn entertaining flick. Frank Sabatella is the director behind it all in Blood Night. And the film features two horror film icons in the cast - Danielle Harris (Hatchet II) and Bill Moseley (Babysitter Wanted). Blood Night is an atmospheric, old school styled blend of ghost story and slasher. It's fun, lively and engertic; a film that you should check out. Here's what Frank Sabatella had to say about the making of Blood Night.
Frank Sabatella So who is Frank Sabatella and what are you all about?
I am a horror filmmaker from NY.

Think back to the early 1980's. Think back to director Frank Henenlotter. Think back to a little film known as Basket Case. While clearly not a film for all tastes including mine, the film definitely had cult classic written all over it. Now enter director Neil Meschino of the film Mold!. While Mold!, starring Edward X. Young, Ardis Campbell, Robert Fattorini, Chris Gentile, Lawrence George, Rick Haymes, Mike Keller and director Neil Meschino, isn't as boundary pushing as Basket Case, it captures the same spirit, the same tone as Basket Case. Working in the film's favor is the fact that it is more commercial and accessible then Basket Case, yet it is its own unique film. It's different. It has edge. It has something to it. Could director Neil Meschino have a possible cult classic on his hands? Only time will tell, but just in case Mold! does reach that...

A little while back, we heard from FX artist Jeremy Selenfriend about a movie he was involved with called Prince Of Pieces, which he told us was “a comedic horror movie with the killer as Jesus Christ, who goes around killing everyone in Biblical fashion: crown of thorns, pillars of salt, crawling leprosy, that sort of thing.” While the feature remains in preproduction, the concept will first emerge in a graphic novel, scheduled to go to print next February; we got exclusive concept sketches of the characters of Jesus, the Reverend and Jimmy, which you can see below.
“The decision to produce Prince Of Pieces as a graphic novel flowed naturally from the process of developing it as a film,” Sam Miserendino, who wrote both incarnations, is producing the illustrated version and will direct the eventual movie, tells Fango. “The same type of imagery that lends itself to depiction on...

Makeup FX creator Jeremy Selenfriend (pictured left) has been all over the East Coast horror scene these days; when he’s not slinging the blood and prosthetics on features such as Blood Night: The Legend Of Mary Hatchet and Mold! (see our recent item on that one here), he’s contributing to the current explosion of horrific short films. Selenfriend shared some photos and observations on his latest projects, which you can see below.
The first pic is from the horror/comedy Aversion, from director Gf Roberts, who also scripted with Ted Spencer. “We shot that last year, and they’re just finishing it up,” Selenfriend tells us. “It’s one of the first movies I’ve done in a very long time that was shot on film, and it has a great look to it. It’s very much in the Evil Dead style, and [Canadian horror actress] Melantha Blackthorne is...

Fango just got word of a new feature called Horrotica (no relation to our own upcoming Fangorotica) that starts principal photography this week in the New York/New Jersey era. Produced by Laughing Duck Media, it’s a horror/comedy directed by Marc Leland and starring a bevy of indie fright-flick starlets and stalwarts, headed by Tiffany Shepis (pictured).
Shepis plays B-movie actress Gina Sklar, whose attempts to track down stolen footage from her latest flick with the help of her number-one fan (Tim Mandala) lead her into some scary situations. The cast also includes J. Edmund Ford (as a producer named Lonzo), Flesh For The Beast’s Ruby Larocca, Penny Dreadful’s Tina Krause, busy newcomer Nicola Fiore, Carl “Doc” Burrows and The Blood Shed’s Alan Rowe Kelly. Frequent Kelly collaborator Tom Burns is doing the music, while Blood Night: The Legend Of Mary Hatchet’s Jeremy Selenfriend handles the makeup FX.

Killer mold! Ever since I saw that blasted Dungeons & Dragons movie and came away profoundly disappointed by the lack of the inclusion of the creeping crud, I've been jonesing to see people get killed by killer mold. Now I'll get my wish. The title of this film? Mold!
Fangoria got the first word on Mold!, the debut feature of Neil Meschino and his appropriately monikered production company, Mentally Ill Films LLC. Set in 1984 at the height of the war on drugs, the government develops a strain of mold specifically designed to wipe out Colombian coca fields. In what should come as no shock to anyone, a demonstration of this new genetically engineered mold goes horribly awry. Out of control and proving to be a killer of more than just plant life, Meschino summarizes Mold! as “conspiracy, murder, torture, mutilation, melting eyes, collapsing heads, vomit, more vomit, half-naked chicks, and gooey,...

Fango heard from director Neil Meschino of the wonderfully named Mentally Ill Films LLC, who gave us the dirt on his debut horror feature Mold! The movie is currently in the midst of its shoot on Long Island, NY locations.
Set in 1984, when the war on drugs was at its height, the story concerns a strain of mold developed by the government to wipe out Colombian coca fields. Unfortunately, during a demonstration, the mold gets out of control and proves to be deletirious to more than just vegetation. The result, Meschino tells us, is “conspiracy, murder, torture, mutilation, melting eyes, collapsing heads, vomit, more vomit, half-naked chicks and gooey, gory fun. It’s the science gone wrong of Re-animator mixed with the gory humor of Evil Dead. You’ll laugh so hard, you’ll choke on your own vomit!”
To bring this icky spectacle to the screen, Meschino called on...

The creators of Blood Night: The Legend Of Mary Hatchet sent along word that the official website for the grisly new indie feature has gotten an upgrade. They also passed on a couple of exclusive new pics you can see below the cut.
The enhanced site, which can be seen here, “is a cool and creepy place with tons of info, photos and even an awesome ‘Escape from the Asylum’ game,” Blood Night director Frank Sabatella tells Fango. “There’s a bunch of great downloads, some awesome videos and even a chance to win prizes! So go there, join our mailing list and tell your friends…Mary is coming!”
Scripted by Elke Blasi and produced by Sabatella, Blasi and Frank Mosca, Blood Night is about a bunch of high-school friends who go out to raise a little hell on the titular eve, which commemorates the gruesome rampage of Mary Mattock,...

I keep hearing about Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet in that strange way that a film’s title will become implanted in your brain without you really understanding why. So I guess it was inevitable we mention it in these pages, eh?
The film’s creators just dropped us a line with word that the opening scene of Blood Night will be on display at this weekend’s Monster Mania convention in Cherry Hill, NJ (home of Harold & Kumar’s White Castle), where Nomad & I will be kicking ass and taking names all weekend. A Blood Night panel featuring director Frank Sabatella, producer Frank Mosca, makeup man Jeremy Selenfriend and stars Danielle Harris, Samantha Hahn and Nate Dushku is scheduled for Saturday, where the footage will debut.
