A fantasy series, with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, is getting a new streaming home after leaving Netflix. Although it has managed to successfully launch several genres, particularly old-school thrillers like The Night Agent and supernatural teen fare such as Stranger Things and Wednesday, there's an argument to be made that the most global streaming platform has struggled to find a fantasy tentpole on the level of HBO's House of the Dragon or Prime Video's Wheel of Time.

The Witcher has had notable success, although not without its share of turmoil. Angel’s in the back passenger seat as the designated shooter and fires a single shot from his rifle at Sons of Anarchy San Bernardino and their friends hanging outside a Bunny Scoops Ice Cream shop.

One member is hit and falls dead.

FX’s Mayans M.C. season five episode one ended with Creeper being repeatedly stabbed in prison. Episode two, “Lord Help My Poor Soul,” opens with Santo Padre meeting to discuss the attack. There was no way that The Magicians was going to be able to wrap up its five year run without displeasing fans simply by ending, but “Fillory and Further” provided a surprising amount of closure and a happier conclusion than we’re used to with this show. Compared to the death and dismemberment at the end of season one, the turning off of magic in season two, Eliot being possessed in season three, or the death of Quentin in season four, the separation of our group between Earth and the new world is downright hopeful as finales go. Even the loose threads that remain brilliantly allow for fans to draw their own conclusions about where the adventure would go from here.

Fernando Meirelles’ “The Two Popes” has won the audience award at the Miami Gems Film Festival.

Inspired by a true story, “The Two Popes” stars Anthony Hopkins as Pope Benedict XVI and Jonathan Pryce as the future Pope Francis in a verbal battle of wits over the future direction of the Catholic Church. The film is produced by Netflix, which has scheduled a limited theatrical release on Nov. 27 in the U.S. prior to its release on streaming on Dec. 20.

Festival audiences also chose Bong Joon ho’s dark comedy “Parasite” as first runner-up, with Alma Har’el’s “Honey Boy” and Craig Brewer’s “Dolemite Is my Name” tying for second runner-up.

The Monster and his sister have been dealt with! On The Magicians Season 4 Episode 13 several threads from this season pull together nicely to create a satisfying, if a little rushed, conclusion. 

First, let's talk about Julia. The showdown that begins at the end of The Magicians Season 4 Episode 12 is over and done with quickly, but introduces a new set of problems. Mainly, what path Julia wants to choose.

Someone magical is coming to God Friended Me: The Magicians star Stella Maeve will appear in an upcoming episode of the CBS drama, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Maeve will play Sophia, a sous chef who works at her father’s restaurant and dreams of opening her own dining establishment. After Miles and Cara are sent her name by the God account, they discover that Sophia’s plans are in danger of falling apart.

Syfy’s adaptation of Lev Grossman’s “The Magicians” fantasy novels finally goes off-book for a wholly original story in its fourth season, and the result is just as spellbinding as ever. That’s not entirely surprising since co-showrunners Sera Gamble and John McNamara had already demonstrated their ability to play fast and loose with the source material, yet stay true to its magical spirit. Despite exhausting all of Grossman’s major plots, the new adventure continues the show’s inspired storytelling, which is both a vindication and relief for longtime fans.

Syfy has renewed “The Magicians” for a fifth season just ahead of the fourth season premiere. The show has also promoted Henry Alonso Myers to co-showrunner for the fifth season.

“‘The Magicians’ raised the bar at Syfy and has gained momentum season after season, attracting a new audience to the channel. We are proud of this series as it continues to break the boundaries of storytelling,” said Bill McGoldrick, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.

We caught up with Arjun Gupta and Stella Maeve to chat about their character arcs in The Magicians season 4.

There’s no show on TV that knows how to hit a reset button quite like Syfy's The Magicians. The season 3 finale left so many intriguing loose threads that it would take a full costume department working overtime just to tie everything up. Luckily, The Magicians Season 4 starts to answer questions like what’s going on with the authoritarian rule of The Library, and how Quentin will handle his complicated relationship with both magic and Fillory.

It’s not just Quentin who finds himself in a drastically different place to begin the season. The whole gang had their memories wiped in the season 3 finale and were placed back into the world in new, magic-less lives. At this point, Arjun Gupta is used to playing all different variations of Penny.

SyFy’s The Magicians has conjured its official season four trailer, showcasing the core group’s struggle to remember their identities and rediscover each other. The new episodes start on Jan. 23 at 9 Pm Et/8 Central.

Last season, the core group embarked on the epic quest of the seven keys to restore magic after it was turned off. In the finale, just as our magicians finally restored magic by unlocking the fountain at the other end of the Wellspring, the Library, Irene McAllistair and Dean Fogg swooped in to reroute magic to them.

In exchange, Dean Fogg negotiated the lives of his students, erasing their memories and giving each – except Alice who is now imprisoned by the Library – a new, magic-free identity. Even with their new identities, our core group is far from safe. Inside Castle Blackspire an ancient, powerful and unkillable Monster escaped confinement and jumped bodies to a new host, Eliot.

In today’s TV News Roundup, Showtime released the premiere date and a new trailer for the second season of “Smilf” and Syfy unveiled a new trailer for season four of “The Magicians.”

“Young Justice” is coming to the DC Universe streaming platform for a third season on Jan. 4, nearly five years after the show’s conclusion in 2013. “Young Justice: Outsiders” will feature popular heroes Static, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal and Beast Boy as well as newcomers Forager, voiced by Jason Spisak and Halo, voiced by Zehra Fazal.
