Rising UK talent awarded £60,000 to support their careers.

Two UK directors with a disability are among the second round of the Film and TV Charity’s John Brabourne recipients for 2020.

The talent development grant, totalling £60,000, is presented to a 12-strong cohort of UK writers, directors, and producers.

House Films are currently in pre-production with the short film Red, a thriller set in the underground world of illegal organ trade. It's the directorial debut of Branko Tomovic (24: Live Another Day, Fury, The Bourne Ultimatum) and stars Francesca Fowler (Doctor Who, Rome, Closure) and Dervla Kirwan (Ondine, Ballykissangel, The Silence, Doctor Who).

For a crucial scene we are looking for a child actor, could be boy or girl, any ethnicity, age 8-10, with set experience.

Filming for this role would be one day only on January 10th 2016 in central London.

Ready to roll this coming Summer here in the UK is new British horror 'Schism'. Writer/director Steve Stone, who directed the Siberian-based 2012 found footage offering 'Entity', is the man behind the project. Shooting kicks off this Summer in North England with Branko Tomovic and Francesca Fowler set to star. It may be early days for 'Schism' but that doesn't mean we haven't been gifted with a couple of new early teaser posters from the flick in the form of a one-sheet and UK quad. Director Steve Stone (Entity) is set to direct another exciting thriller titled Schism. Schism is a psychological thriller, in which a young woman is found in a wheat field. The bodies of four children are also sighted, nearby. Stone will shoot Schism in Northern England this summer. Very rarely will audiences find a protagonist who will know how to prevent a dark force from entering a house. Equally impossible is finding a variation of the possession theme that does not get explored. The Possession of David O'Reilly is a movie that thankfully gets a male character possessed rather than the traditional female.

Quite often, the gentler sex is perceived as the weaker soul that can succumb to the whims of the Devil. French Historian Michel de Certeau and anthropologist I.M. Lewis suggest possession happens because women were quite often denied a representation and a public voice during the Late Middle Ages.

But the Devil is an equal opportunist when it comes to other cases, especially those reported ones dating from the 20th century on, like Robbie Doe's, the boy who inspired Blatty's novel,...

Considering the title, The Fires Of Pompeii is curiously something of a damp squib. The story revolves around a big moral dilemma which plagues The Doctor throughout. And just like that big dilemma, The Fires Of Pompeii seems to be stuck in its own indecisive rut throughout.

It just cannot make up its mind on what it wants to be. Big ethical epic? Spooky story of sisterhood shenanigans? Flamey monster tale? Well, Fires touches on all three bases, but somehow only dips its arm in the water instead of diving right in. The Possession of David O'Reilly is last year's supernatural UK import from directors Andrew Cull and Steve Isles. It's not likely to please every horror fan out there, but it's the kind of horror film that I personally enjoy discovering. A film that's very low budget, but not afraid to take chances. It's not perfect, but it's scary.

With solid acting, a few bare bones, but effective camera tricks, and some special effects make-up; this supernatural thriller is not afraid to be subtle. Nor is it afraid to be straight-forward. It seems to drag in a couple parts, but that even worked well for me and made the scary scenes that much scarier. In a constant state of unease you never know if the next scare is going to creep up on you or jump in your face. Kind of like feeling the hairs stand up...

In their never-ending quest to bring us some really badass horror movies, IFC announced today that they have acquired the rights to the pre-Paranormal Activity ghost spooker The Possession of David O'Reilly.

In what has to be the quickest turn-around we've ever seen, the flick will premiere On Demand starting on May 5th. These cats move quick!

Filmed around the same time as Paranormal Activity and starring Giles Anderson, Francesca Fowler, Nicholas Shaw, and Zoe Richards, The Possession of David O'Reilly is said to be "a terrifying supernatural shockumentary about a demonic presence in a young couple's home in London." We'll find out just how terrifying in just a couple of days!

Shock Till You Drop has your first look at the U.S. trailer for The Possession of David O'Reilly . IFC Films picked this UK import for distribution and will be debuting the film May 5 on the IFC Midnight VOD service available via Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner, and Bright House. Written and directed by Andrew Cull, the film is a supernatural " faux doc" (a term hipster Hollywood agents are now using) starring Giles Alderson and Francesca Fowler. They play a couple haunted by a demonic presence. IFC Midnight is the only way to see the film, so check it out.

Now this is the kind O'Reilly factor we can behind! A tale of demonic possession, strange goings-on, and human beings being tortured to the brink of insanity by forces we don't fully understand. All right, so it does still sound a bit like having to sit through the popular Fox News show, but I digress!

The Possession of David O'Reilly is an Authentic Films production that claims to be based on "real events" (Epic). However, after doing some digging and researching the film, there is no evidence to suggest the reality of these claims. At the Authentic Films website the film is not named and at the distribution company, Epic Pictures Group, there is no additional information on the truthfulness of the story. The true story, or based on actual events labels are slapped on to horror films in an attempt to add legitimacy to the movie, but fans are likely seeing through this scheme by now. Is there any truth to The Possession of David O'Reilly?

The only truth available right now is the two minute trailer below. The trailer shows a few shocking moments and some menacing looking muppets, that will create fear, or some giggles. Check it out below and decide if David O'Reilly deserves an exorcism.

One of the many cool things about Paranormal Activity's success is that the supernatural subgenre is roaring back in a big way. I’m sure every major studio in Hollywood is looking through their scripts to find comparable material. Overseas the doors are opening as well with one such flick, The Possession of David O'Reilly, well under way!
