A super-meta, super-prescient skewering of the showbiz world, and in particular, the relatively primitive phenomena of celebrity reality TV, “The Comeback” looked destined for the status of one-season wonder when HBO pulled the plug in 2005. “I was aware that it was mainly straight, white guys who couldn’t watch it,” its star Lisa Kudrow later acknowledged, perhaps explaining how douchebro counterpart “Entourage” — whose ratings it often matched — was allowed to run for eight (plus a truly loathsome film).

Thankfully, after a nine-year period in which the show had been reevaluated as a cult classic, Kudrow and co-creator Michael Patrick King were afforded the opportunity to reintroduce their glorious comic creation, the egotistical yet strangely sympathetic enigma that is Valerie Cherish for a second season. That hurrah ran beginning November 9, 2014, and inspired the very opposite response to her well-worn catchphrase, “I don’t want to see that.”

Lisa Kudrow says she would “love to” play Valerie Cherish again in a new interview with Newsweek, adding that series co-creator “Michael Patrick King and I are always talking about what would happen next. Always. And it’s been nine, 10 years now. So we’re due.” (When reached by TVLine about a possible third season, HBO had no comment.)

​Austin, Texas — At the Atx TV Festival, HBO’s “The Comeback” was still very much an object of TV fan adoration. Lisa Kudrow, Michael Patrick King, Dan Bucatinsky, and Laura Silverman joined moderator Abigail Spencer to reminisce about the fan-favorite comedy, and how the show returned to do a second season ten years after the first run.

They began the panel by taking a moment to pay tribute to Robert Michael Morris, who played Mickey Dean, Valerie’s hair stylist and confidant. Morris was supposed to join the group at Atx but passed away May 30.

“He’s the only person who could have played that part,” said Bucatinsky.

Kudrow made it clear that though the show was shot documentary style, “It was not about my experience on ‘Friends.'” She added, “I did send the writers cookies, but that’s because I love cookies, not so they’d write me more stuff.

“The Comeback” could be coming back — again. And for exhausting as that turn of phrase as become (we’re sorry), there is no sign of series fatigue among the cast and creators.

Co-creators Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King joined executive producer Dan Bucatinsky and co-star Laura Silverman for a reunion panel at the Atx TV Festival — moderated by the self-described “biggest ‘Comeback’ fan ever,” Abigail Spencer (“Timeless”) — and the group had plenty of ideas for how to keep the series going.

“There’s always a possibility,” Kudrow said of a Season 3. “If [Season 2] happened, then it’s a possibility.”

King echoed her enthusiasm, contending that the television landscape is perfectly set up for a return of Valerie Cherish.

“There’s so much aggressive sales needed, it’s like a perfect humiliation trap,” King said, holding up a water bottle sporting an ad for a network he wasn’t familiar with.

According to our sister site Deadline, the cause of Morris’ death is unknown at this time. He was best known for playing Mickey, the flamboyant hairdresser/best friend of Kudrow’s faded sitcom star Valerie Cherish, on HBO’s showbiz satire The Comeback. Morris appeared as Mickey in both the initial 2005 season and the 2014 revival, where Mickey’s health scare added a layer of poignancy to Valerie’s self-involved antics.

HBO has released a full-length The Comeback trailer for the revival of the critically acclaimed but short-lived comedy series starring Lisa Kudrow. Valerie Cherish (Lisa Kudrow) is making her comeback. HBO has announced that the second "limited" season of The Comeback will kick off in November and there will be six episodes. The show debuted in 2005 and ran for 13 episodes before being cancelled.

In addition to Kudrow, the season's cast will include Lance Barber, Dan Bucatinsky, Robert Michael Morris, Laura Silverman and Damian Young.

When we heard that HBO’s 2005 cult favorite Lisa Kudrow series The Comeback would be revived for a six episode run we wondered if Valerie Cherish’s hairdresser and confidante Mickey (actor Robert Michael Morris) would also be returning. Frankly, we couldn’t imagine the show without him.

Thank heavens, it looks like the flamboyantly lovable sidekick is on board. Producer Dan Bucatinsky just posted a photo on Facebook from the set of The Comeback and in it we see Morris and Kudrow together filming a scene for the new season.

Like the first season, Bucatinsky and Kudrow are producing the new episodes with Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City).

As you’ll recall, The Comeback followed faded eighties sitcom sweetheart Cherish as she tries to revive her career with a reality show and a demeaning part as “Aunt Sassy” on the fictional sitcom Room and Bored.

Well, she finally got it.

After months of rumors and speculation, HBO officially announced Monday that The Comeback will be returning to the network for a six-episode limited series this fall. The 2005 series followed Lisa Kudrow as D-list TV star Valerie Cherish trying desperately to make a career comeback while filming a reality show. Production will begin later this month in Los Angeles with Michael Patrick King (Sex in the City), Dan Bucatinsky (Scandal), and Kudrow all reprising their roles as executive producers.

“It was almost too fun to play Valerie Cherish the first time around,” Lisa Kudrow said in a statement.

HBO confirmed the news Monday that its cult, one-season show, starring a fresh-from-"Friends" Lisa Kudrow as a deluded, washed-up sitcom star, will be returning for another season. "The Comeback," which premiered way back in 2005, lasted only 13 episodes; this new season is being billed as a "six-episode limited series."

The meta show focuses on Valerie Cherish, an actress who decides to shoot a reality show detailing her attempt to regain her star status, though things don't exactly go as planned. According to HBO's official press release announcing season two, the show will pick up 10 years later, as the reality TV craze has reached new heights.

"Valerie thinks she has it all figured out this time. She doesn't," the release states. " ... In the new episodes, Valerie continues her search to attain the spotlight, but this time around, it illuminates a whole new series...

If you're one of the few who enjoyed Fox's Running Wilde sitcom then there's some good news for you. No, the show hasn't been un-cancelled and renewed for a second season but viewers will have a chance to see the four remaining unaired episodes.

An FX spokesperson confirmed to the Futon Critic that the cable channel will air the quartet of Running Wilde episodes over the next four Thursdays at 10pm.

Two episodes -- "Jack's Back" (episode 10) and "One Step Forward" (a rerun of episode nine) -- will air on April 28th. "Alienated" (episode 11) will run on May 5th, "The Pre-Nup" (episodes 12) can be seen on May 12th, and the series finale -- "Basket Cases" (episode 13) -- will be broadcast on May 19th.

Many believe that Arrested Development is one of the best sitcoms in TV history. Part of that can be attributed to the talents of Will Arnett. He's now back on Fox with a new show called Running Wilde. Will it last longer than Development did?

Running Wilde revolves around a spoiled playboy (Arnett) who's in love with a beautiful environmental activist (Keri Russell). Both try to change the other to see their point of view.

The rest of the cast includes Mel Rodriguez, Peter Serafinowicz, Robert Michael Morris, Stefania Owen, and David Cross.

  The first episode garnered a disappointing 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.6 million viewers. That put the new series in fourth place in both categories.

But everyone knows that only happens on television and not in real life. Especially when are sixty-something, are better known for your theater and writing work, and only became an actor because you’d been teaching about it for so long, you decided you needed some practical experience.

"Running Wilde" is the second half of a pair of new comedies on Fox, starring Will Arnett and Keri Russell in what Fox advertises as "when ego meets eco." While the revamped version of the pilot is funnier than the first go-round, it's still not where the show should be. However, there is so much potential that viewers should give it a chance.

Arnett is Steven Wilde, a rich manchild whose only friends are his rich, eccentric neighbor Fa'ad Shaoulian (Peter Serafinowicz), his driver Migo (Mel Rodriguez) and his nanny/secretary/keeper Mr. Lunt (Robert Michael Morris). Emmy Kadubic (Russell) is his childhood crush who works with a tribe in the Amazon, much to the consternation of her daughter Puddle (Stefania Owen). Wilde and Puddle, with some help from Fa'ad, conspire to keep Emmy and Puddle living with Wilde, in the hopes of making him a better man.

Chicago – I love Will Arnett, Keri Russell, David Cross, and Mitchell Hurwitz. And yet, I don’t love “Running Wilde.” If you need any proof that quality television takes something more intangible than just getting talented people together, look no further than this sporadically-entertaining Fox sitcom, a show with more-than-enough talent to get over the common growing pains of the first few episodes of a sitcom if the ratings are strong enough to give it time to do so but is undeniably disappointing at the start.

The broad moments of the last show on which Mitchell Hurwitz and Will Arnett collaborated — the undeniably-brilliant “Arrested Development — were balanced out by the heart and humanity of the performances by Jason Bateman and Michael Cera. And yet, “Running Wilde” lacks that same heart despite the best efforts of Keri Russell to provide a similar emotional backbone to counterbalance Arnett’s cynical style.

The one thing that rich, pampered and self-indulgent oil tycoon offspring Steven Wilde (Will Arnett) can’t have is the romantic love of his childhood activist friend turned adult humanitarian and environmentalist Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell). It’s either a stroke of comedic brilliance from executive producer Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) or a cruel twist of fate that the one thing Wilde can’t have is named Emmy as it just so happens to be the name of the very same award that his new comedic series Running Wilde won’t be nominated for next year. It’s sad but true. Fox’s new comedy series doesn’t pack the same punch that made Arrested Development the cult favorite series it is today and while there are a couple genuine laughs to be had, the series almost requires a laughtrack to gain the comedy label. In case you don't remember, last month Glee creator Ryan Murphy told me that Jackson "...is going to sing. He is going to dance, of course. He is the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline. He’s a complete villain. He wears all black. He’s a handsome, villain who will become very intertwined in Will’s life."

And we can't wait for Cheyenne's appearance on Tuesday's ep!

Speaking of things I can't wait for is new Torchwood miniseries (Ha! Whoever threw the rotten cabbage at me missed!) so to tide us over are two new pics I spotted of John Barrowman.

The new Fox series Running Wilde is a romantic comedy series in which Steve Wilde (Will Arnett), a spoiled, filthy rich playboy, desperately tries to win the heart of his humanitarian childhood sweetheart, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell), by helping raise her 12-year-old daughter, Puddle (Stefania Owen). Rather than run the risk of letting Emmy slip away again, Steve pulls out all the stops to win her heart, but that may not be enough for this hopelessly mismatched pair.

Rarely have I seen a show that seemed to have so much potential on paper, while at the same time managing to convince me that so little of that potential will ultimately be realized. The outline of Running Wilde may not exactly jump out at me – the wacky love-interest angle between the rich, spoiled son of an oil tycoon, and the (let’s face it) laughably liberal girl who got away when the two were kids – but the people involved in the show offer up bags of potential television goodness, and moreover bring to mind just the sort of potential that is ripe for the market right now.

Will Arnett is a fairly safe bet at the moment, as more and more people come into the Arrested Development fold. It’s a rare testament to everything about Ad that the number of fans never seems to stop growing. Thus, when...

"Late Show with David Letterman" bandleader Paul Shaffer will be a guest star on Fox's new show "Running Wilde" in the fall, and his appearance is already getting awards-season buzz.

Don't believe us? Then ask "Running Wilde" star and co-creator Will Arnett, who was a "Late Show" guest Thursday night (Sept. 2) and introduced Shaffer's appearance to the world. "There's a lot of Oscar buzz -- which is weird, because it's TV," Arnett says.

Shaffer will appear in the fourth episode of "Running Wilde," a Fox rep says. The show, which premieres Sept. 21, stars Arnett as the very wealthy, very sheltered Steve Wilde and Keri Russell as his crusading, do-gooding long-lost love, Emmy. You'll also see Stefania Owen as Emmy's daughter, Puddle, and Robert Michael Morris as Mr. Lunt, Steve's tremendously overprotective security chief/ex-male nanny.

After flipping Andrew Daly for David Cross, Vulture reports that the Mitch Hurwitz series has just recast two more performers -- Jayne Houdyshell and Joseph A. Nunez have been replaced by Robert Michael Morris and Mel Rodriguez. Will Arnett is still involved, however, so your anticipation can remain breathless. [Vulture]...

'Running Wilde,' the upcoming Fox comedy powered by 'Arrested Development' alumni, is running through yet another round of changes before the series airs in September. The show features Will Arnett as Steve Wilde, a spoiled rich guy who falls in love with his do-gooder childhood ex, Emily Kadubic, played by Keri Russell.

Today's news revealed that two characters from the original pilot have been recast. Mel Rodriguez ('Big Love') is set to replace Joseph A. Nunez as Wilde's dutiful friend/driver. The other recasting is slightly more complicated, since Jayne Houdeyshell's part as Wilde's head of security/ex-nanny has been rewritten and will now feature Robert Michael Morris ('The Comeback') as an ex-"manny."
