Heroes will be the next TV series from the past to get a return, as a new sequel series is in development. The news comes shortly after the solar eclipse, which played a major role in the original Heroes series.

Per Deadline, the new show will be called Heroes: Eclipsed. It is set years after the events of the original series as "new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives." The revival will feature some familiar villains along with new characters for the new group of budding superheroes to face. Tim Kring, the creator of the original series, is writing Heroes: Eclipsed.

This will be the second spinoff for Heroes, following the 2015 limited series Heroes Reborn.

Milo Ventimiglia, who played Peter Petrelli in the NBC superhero series Heroes, which ran from 2006 to 2010, has little hope for a second series revival.

"I feel like I've been trained to say, ''never say never,'' but I think when they tried to bring back Heroes and reboot Heroes, it was a bit of a soft landing," Ventimiglia told ComicBook while promoting his new film Land of Bad. "I don't think that one's gonna be revisited again. I think it's just one of those things [that] I think they tried, and it didn't quite go," he said about the 13-episode revival, which didn't include much of the original cast.

NBC has unveiled new characters from Heroes Reborn in two motion posters, featuring Ryan Guzman's Carlos and Francesca Eastwood's Molly. First came a teaser poster, and now NBC is continuing to ramp up the marketing campaign for Heroes Reborn as evidenced by this haunting new trailer. While the initial teaser for the upcoming event series featured nothing more than an enigmatic look at an eclipse and quick glimpses of stars Jack Coleman and Zachary Levi, this new video kicks things up a notch and features the world asking, “Where are all the heroes?”

While the trailer elicits Bonnie Tyler’s “I Need A Hero,” it’s actually a pretty dark and intriguing look at the Heroes universe, which has undoubtedly changed quite a bit since the original series came to a close five years ago. Uh oh. Looks like Heroes Reborn may be taking itself a little too seriously. NBC has released a new teaser trailer for their upcoming limited revival series, and it's laying hard on the idea that our society needs heroes. Which isn't wrong, but I'm pretty sure the heroes we need are better at diplomatic peacekeeping than moving objects with their mind. If you've been paying attention to our recent Heroes Reborn coverage, you might have noticed that I'm rooting for this show and genuinely hope it will be good, but the promotional material we've seen so far is not stoking my enthusiasm.
