Now that Kraven the Hunter has ended its disastrous theatrical run, the Marvel film is getting its second wind during its streaming debut. Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the title character, it earned a total gross of $24 million domestically and $60 million globally against a speculated budget of $110 to $130 million.

It wasn't hard to predict the Sony Spider-Man Universe wouldn't make a big splash in the long run. Many were optimistic and hopeful, because the more comic book movies out there, the better. But without Spider-Man as the linchpin, these superhero movies and villain origins lacked the anchor needed to build momentum and resonance.

Peter Parker is the glue that webs all of these largely obscure characters together in the source material. Additionally, it's been reported that Kraven the Hunter is the final entry of this shared universe for the time being, and it's not hard to see why. The critics aren't pleased, and audience members aren't seeing anything worthwhile. But out of Sony's entire output, which movies are the bigger disappointments?

Kraven the Hunter Left a Lot to be Desired...

There have been many great Marvel and DC movies over the years, but it is true that some films missed the mark, though even a few of those who did not succeed still featured exciting fight scenes. Marvel and DC have a bright future ahead. The McU's upcoming movies include a pair of Avengers films, Spider-Man 4, and more. As for DC, James Gunn's DC Universe has films like Superman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and more on the way.

However, both franchises — and others — have produced a number of projects that did not work quite as expected. From the Spider-Man franchise to the old Dceu to more, both Marvel and DC have had their fair share of films that struggled at the box office or with critics. Thankfully, some of them had redeeming qualities, even if they were not among the best Marvel movies or the most exciting DC films,...

Kraven the Hunter did not have the reception that Sony Pictures had been hoping for, to say the least. Alessandro Nivola, who played the movie's incarnation of Rhino, has opened up about how the film performed.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Nissola suggested that the issue with Kraven the Hunter that may have contributed to its downfall was perhaps too many people involved with the project behind the scenes. From his own vantage point, the actor had a great time working on the film, so much so that it never occurred to him that there were going to be problems. He also said he didn't check out many reviews about the movie personally, though he'd learned about how a lot of them were giving praise to his performance in the film, even if the reviews were otherwise very negative.

Kraven the Hunter has finally arrived in theaters, not with a glorious roar but a meager whimper. Initially set to be released on January 13, 2023, Kraven the Hunter arrives nearly two years later. Critics have panned the film, and it is looking at one of the lowest opening weekends for a movie based on a comic book. Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson as the titular character, who is reimagined as a vigilante hunter of men instead of animals.

Despite Kraven the Hunter being a Spider-Man villain, like the other films in the misleading Spider-Man Shared Universe, the character is not present or even mentioned. In place of Spider-Man, Kraven the Hunter is filled with other Spider-Man-related characters, including Calypso, Rhino, and The Foreigner.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has stepped into his third Marvel Comics character with the recent release of Kraven the Hunter. Throughout his over two-decade career, Taylor-Johnson has proven to be a versatile actor with diverse roles and admitted he needed convincing to join 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

As part of his press tour to promote Kraven the Hunter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson got to look back at his past roles, which also include his stint as Quicksilver in the MCU. The actor made his superhero debut in 2010's Kick-Ass, which was not part of the MCU but based on a Marvel comic book, and later appeared in Age of Ultron. In an interview with IMDb following the most iconic fight sequences in his career so far, Aaron Taylor-Johnson looked back to his time in the MCU and working with Elizabeth Olsen. The two played the Maximoff siblings in the second Avengers film, but Olsen and Taylor-Johnson had also worked together in 2014's Godzilla, where they played husband and wife. The Game of Thrones actor will star alongside David Bailie, Nick Cornwall, Andrew Whipp and Duran Fulton Brown in the sci-fi thriller written and directed by Ayoub Qanir, whose previous films include Koyakatsi and Human After All.

Armstrong said: “As an actor you don’t read enough scripts like this. Original, intriguing and very, very dark. What’s not to like?”

Production will begin in London this month. The film is produced by Peter Fraser, Sarah McCarthy and Qanir.
