Popular singer Jasbir Jassi recounted the first interview he gave in English during an international tour and how he misunderstood the questions and gave utterly wrong answers.
He said: “During my initial days when we went for one of our first show tours in California it was for the first Lady, Hillary Clinton. We had to do a fundraising show for her. There was a journo over there who approached me for an interview and I told him clearly that I am not at all good in English. However, he insisted and asked me to do a rehearsal before starting the interview so that it would be easy for me but when they came and started briefing me I was like it is too easy, and can do it easily without any problem.”
The ‘Dil Le Gayee Kudi’ singer goes on to share how he translated his popular Punjabi track into English for them.

Singer Jasbir Jassi, who is known for tracks like ‘Koka’, ‘Laung Da Lashkara’ and ‘Dil Le Gayi’, has released a new single ‘Lehenga’ in collaboration with shooter and fashion designer Rajeshwari Kumari. The song has the potential to become a wedding number.
While Jasbir Jassi’s unique voice adds zing to the high-octane number, Rajeshwari Kumari’s presence adds character to the track. The lyrics have been penned by Dr. Bal Sidhu, who has given us many gems like ‘Saadi Rail Gaddi Aayi’.
Talking about the track, Jasbir Jassi said, “As the name of the song suggests, the key theme is ‘Lehenga’, which is an important part of the clothing for women especially in Indian weddings. The upbeat music and song lyrics not only want you to shake your leg on the dance floor but it also brings out the celebration spirit and joy in this wedding season.”

Sonakshi Sinha has made herself a place in Bollywood not being afraid to take on different stories that haven’t been put on film before. Whether it be the all-action lead in Akira, a remake of a superhit Tamil film or Noor as a young journalist, she has not shied away from taking on difficult topics or unorthodox roles. Khandaani Shafakhana is yet another string to this bow as she takes on the role of a woman running a sexual health clinic, after the passing of her father. Labelled as “The only sex film for the whole family”, this film looks to take on a tragic comedic stance about sex and sexuality. Hip-hop mogul Baadshah also comes full circle in this film, playing himself and taking on the role of music director to produce an album of fun and frolic.

Is it June already? Once again, a whole year seems to flash by in an instant and what felt like January is now actually December. Bollywood runs at such a pace it’s so hard to remember what came out last month and the trailer that got you excited a few weeks ago, is now the movie that’s already finished in theatres. So, it’s time to take a quick stop and restock and have a look at the 10 best songs so far this year.
10. ‘Beh Chala’ – Uri
Uri is the story based on real events of a critical strike by Indian Special Forces. But even the strongest, the fittest and the best of the best need a moment to be human. ‘Beh Chala’ reminds us that these are people both as individuals and a strike force team. Families, paperwork and the uniform all must find a way to be balanced.

“The bravest battle ever fought” proclaims the poster of the new film Kesari. Described as an action-war film, this depicts the battle of Saragarhi in which 21 Sikh warriors fought 10,000 Afghans in 1897. And when you have Karan Johar, Anurag Singh, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra already this feels like an epic. However, that puts more pressure on the music as all these individuals are known for great songs as part of their showcase reel. So Taniskh Bagchi leads an army of the finest young talent with Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Chirantan Bhatt, Jasbir Jassi, Gurmoh and Jasleen Royal all bringing their skills to this album.
Jasbir Jassi opens the album with the most fundamental of Sikh ideals, Ik Onkaar. This is a known religious tenet of Sikh religious philosophy so it must be treated with the upmost respect. Also being a basis of religious thought, its words must be very clear so...

New Delhi, Feb 26: Over the years, Indipop has faded away and record companies are unwilling to invest in the genre, composer Lesle Lewis points out.
Lewis, who formed the band Colonial Cousins with ghazal singer Hariharan, says "though there is nothing wrong in increasing popularity of Bollywood music", due to this "the record companies have stopped investing in Indipop music albums".
"They feel such albums won't work anymore, so what is the use of bringing them out anymore," Lewis told Ians.
The 1990s saw an upsurge in private albums by singers like Baba Sehgal, Anamika, Shaan and Jasbir Jassi, but later Bollywood.

Tyrannosaur (18)
(Paddy Considine, 2010, UK) Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman, Eddie Marsan. 92 mins
Bad things happen to damaged people (and dogs) in this sparse kitchen-sink drama – almost too many bad things for one film to take, between Mullan's volatile drinker, Colman's abused wife and their vicious social circles. There's a redeeming spiritual dimension to the misery, thank God, and as you'd expect of an actor-turned-director, Considine gets incredible performances from his leads.
Midnight In Paris (12A)
(Woody Allen, 2011, Us) Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates. 94 mins
Not finding modern-day Paris to his romantic liking, Allen sends Wilson's tourist back to the fantasy 1920s version, and recruits familiar faces to play familiar cultural legends: (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, etc). It's so unapologetically wistful, he gets away with it. The French will love it.
Johnny English Reborn (PG)
(Oliver Parker, 2011, Us/Fra/UK) Rowan Atkinson, Rosamund Pike, Gillian Anderson. 101 mins

New Delhi, Oct 7: Remember the last time you walked into a music store to buy a pop music album? The era of the 1990s may have seen an upsurge in private albums by singers like Baba Sehgal, Anamika, Shaan and Jasbir Jassi, but their charm and popularity seem to have faded over the years.
A few artists blame the audience's preference for the change while others point fingers at music companies, saying these are hesitant to invest in such albums.
'First we need to address the question whether the audience wants such music or not. The singers do come up with albums, but there are no sales,' music composer-lyricist Prasoon Joshi told Ians.
