Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.

Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.

Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.

"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

Years after its announcement, the live-action Duke Nukem filmadaptation has received an optimistic, if not vague, update.

In 2018, John Cena was confirmed to star in a film adaptation of the raunchy Duke Nukem video game franchise. While the project has been in limbo for quite some time, producer Brad Fuller gave a vague but optimistic update to Screen Rant. During the South by Southwest film festival (SXSW), Fuller mostly spoke about his upcoming film The Astronaut but also gave a long-awaited update on Duke Nukem.

Fuller confirmed that the project hasn't been dropped yet and is still in development. Unfortunately, this was the only new information Fuller could provide, stating, "If I had information for you, I would tell you. I just know it's something we're talking about and trying to figure out."

Peacemaker season 2 is set to premiere on HBO and Max this August and creator James Gunn has just dropped a first official look at Steve Agee as the returning John Economos.

Introduced in 2021's The Suicide Squad, the character has become a firm fan favourite and, after taking on a key supporting role in Peacemaker's first season, made his Dcu debut in Creature Commandos last year. As Amanda Waller's right-hand man, it's unclear what he'll bring to the table when this show returns, especially as Rick Flag Sr. is expected to be calling the shots in A.R.G.U.S.

This is only the second official image from Peacemaker season 2 after Gunn previously teased a mysterious new villain (we've included that at the bottom of this post). DC Stduios has yet to share anything showing Christopher Smith in action, though promo art revealed the anti-hero's new helmet design last year.

DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran emphasized that the release date for Season 2 of the hit Max series Peacemaker is still on track for August.

Meanwhile the other Suicide Squad spinoff series, Waller, starring Oscar winner Viola Davis as the amoral U.S. government espionage director who dispatches the criminal misfit Suicide Squad team on missions, remains in the works. However, it’s been a hard road for the show.

Safran explained, “We’ve taken a couple of cracks at Waller and we haven’t been able to land it.”

“We’re still working on it,” said Gunn.

“Waller has been tough, the strike was tough on Waller, there was a certain amount time that we needed to do Peacemaker first,” he continued.

Added Gunn, “We were going to go with Waller before Peacemaker (Season 2), but I wrote Peacemaker quickly and were ready to go.”

When Peacemaker Season 1 debuted on Max in 2022, the dance sequence during the opening credits became an instant fan-favorite. John Cena, who plays the series' titular antihero, says Season 2 will feature a new song with new choreography.

Speaking to Collider, Cena said that he was initially unsure if a quirky intro, set to Wig Wam's "Do You Wanna Taste It," would resonate with viewers. "I will say filming the dance number in Season 1, even though it was written in the script the whole way through, so I knew months out we were going to film it, you still kind of scratch your head, like, 'Is this going to work?'" he explained. Fortunately, everyone loved it and its popularity led to a new creation for Season 2.

2024 is over, and while it was a relatively good year for Max and its subscribers because of all the marvellous content we got. In my opinion, it is nothing compared to what Max has in store for us for 2025, as some of the most highly-anticipated Max original shows will be premiering this year. Peacemaker’s crowd-pleasing, season-ending interaction with the Justice League is now merely a fun memory and not a part of the new Dcu’s canon, James Gunn has made clear in a new interview.

To recap that “super” cameo from the Peacemaker Season 1 finale: As the titular Chris Smith (played by John Cena) marched away from a climatic battle scene with an unconscious Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) in his arms, suddenly, with a crackle of electricity, who would appear but the Justice League! — in the form of Ezra Miller’s The Flash, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and a silhouetted Superman and Wonder Woman.

Since the Golden Age of Hollywood, fantasy has been a cornerstone of the film industry's success, from Greek mythology epics like Clash of the Titans to '80s cult classics like Labyrinth. We didn't get many Peacemaker season 2 set photos when cameras were still rolling on the HBO series and fans who did manage to take them soon found themselves hit with takedown notices on social media. 

Production on the show recently wrapped, of course, meaning we're now waiting for DC Studios co-ceo and series creator James Gunn to share an official first look at The Suicide Squad character's Dcu debut. 

In the meantime, a new photo has just shown up online with John Cena's Christopher Smith and Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt riding a Tokusatsu-inspired motorcycle. Like the rest of the Dcu, it seems Peacemaker will embrace the wackier side of the DC Universe (though we'd say it's fitting for someone like Peacemaker to have a ride this obnoxious). 

Also of note is the fact we see the A.R.G.U.S. logo on the bike, suggesting they're funding whatever he's up to here!

The arrival of Peacemaker season 2 is getting closer for the DC Universe audience as James Gunn announces a big update for John Cena's TV show. Gunn's DC Universe is set to kick off in December 2024 with the Creature Commandos premiere on Max, and more 2025 projects are also getting ready for their debuts next year, including Peacemaker season 2. While plot details on Peacemaker season 2 have been limited, a new status report is boding well for the show's return next year.

After shooting for more than half a year, Gunn announced on social media that Peacemaker season 2 has officially wrapped filming, with the DC Studios co-ceo having pulled double-duty throughout 2024 by directing episodes of the new season while also working on Superman. Peacemaker season 2 was in the works before the Dcu reboot and the second batch of episodes has just wrapped production according to creator and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn.

A few cast members recently announced that they've finished working on the show but this means filming has officially concluded ahead of an expected 2025 launch next August. A first look is likely a long way off, though Creature Commandos could drop some hints about where Christopher Smith's story goes next.

James Gunn's new vision for the DC Universe (Dcu) is nearly here. With Creature Commandos slated for release in a little over a week and the first Dcu movie, Superman, wrapping up filming this past summer, everything seems to be going smoothly. Now, we have an update on yet another project from the writer/director, as Peacemaker Season 2 has wrapped filming for two of its principal cast members.

The director took to Instagram to share that John Cena (Christopher Smith/Peacemaker) and Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt) have completed filming their scenes for Peacemaker season 2. The director described that "shooting yesterday was one of the most fun days of shooting [he's] Ever had" on a project while also revealing that there is only one day left of filming on the Max Original series. Production on Peacemaker Season 2 took place in Savannah Georiga, which the Gunn also referred to as a special place to film.

According to DC Studios' James Gunn, two of Peacemaker's biggest stars have concluded filming their scenes for the series' second season. In a post on Threads, Gunn wrote: "And thats a Peacemaker Season Two wrap on [John Cena and Jennifer Holland], who both turned in wonderful performances this season as Christopher Smith and Emilia Harcourt."

The Peacemaker showrunner then added: "To top it off, shooting yesterday was one of the most fun days of shooting I have Ever had! Thanks to the incredible people of Savannah, Georgia for making the Peacemaker crews stay here so special. One Day Left!"

While its always great for audiences to show their support for the hard work the production crew and stars put into a movie, some post-credits scenes truly were not worth the wait. To make a feature film is a major endeavor, so its important to give the crew their due and stick around for the credits, but if the only reason a viewer was watching them was to see the final scene or catch a hidden Easter egg, plenty of films would leave them disappointed. As post-credits scenes have become more common in recent years, in some cases, they feel needlessly tacked on and without much depth or interest.

The best post-credits scenes offer something new and exciting for viewers to look forward to. This could be the introduction of a long-awaited character, a new plot point that lays the groundwork for a sequel, or even just one final gag...

Peacemaker season 1 hinted at Christopher Smith having multiple variations of his helmet and we now have our first look at what appears to be his main season 2 look.

While John Cena previously shared what appeared to be a helmet reveal on social media, those of you who suspected it was likely just a random photo from The Suicide Squad or season 1 were likely correct (that or he'll wear a few different variations when the show returns).

The promo art featured on a cast and crew gift matches up with the design first shared by James Gunn on social media when he posted a photo of it from the back.

Understandably, the design doesn't tell us much about what's to come but does mark a significant overhaul for the character in time for his Dcu debut next August.

While it seems his costume will remain largely the same, this looks like...

HBO and Max have confirmed today that Peacemaker season 2 will premiere in August 2025. That's only a month after Superman swoops into theaters and quite a bit sooner than most fans expected.

This means we'll follow Rick Flag Sr.'s story from the Man of Steel's new movie - where we know he'll help detain the hero alongside Ultraman - straight into what many have assumed is a mission of revenge in Peacemaker.

It's also been confirmed that The Last of Us season 2 will launch next Spring.

Back to the DC series, though, and there's a huge amount of intrigue surrounding what we'll see from Peacemaker when it returns. Season 2 was announced before the formation of DC Studios and James Gunn's Dcu reboot, but the continuity changes mean Christopher Smith's world has evolved a little since we last saw him.

Will that confuse casual viewers? To be honest,...

One significant project that will transition from the Dceu to the newly established Dcu is ‘Peacemaker‘. Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’ was already confirmed to be in development when James Gunn clarified that the show would be canon to the Dcu.

He assured fans that the integration would be seamless and not confusing, making the transition from the Dceu to the Dcu as smooth as possible for audiences.

The filming for the show will take place until late November or December of this year, however, this didn’t stop James Gunn from sharing a first look on his social media:

HBO/Max has released a new promo featuring footage from a number of the streamer's upcoming shows, and it includes our first glimpse of the second season of Peacemaker.

It's a very brief teaser, but it highlights John Cena as the returning Christopher Smith (he's in his season 1 costume here) having a beer with his allies, Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) taking out a bunch of goons in a pool hall, and our first look at Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Grillo will voice Flag in the animated Creature Commandos series, before making his live-action debut as the character in Superman. In Peacemaker, he will be seeking revenge against Smith for the murder of his son in The Suicide Squad.

One of the projects occupying much of his time at the moment is Peacemaker Season 2, which has been filming in Atlanta for roughly six months. However, his certainly hectic schedule didnt stop him from taking to his personal Threads account to drop yet another update on the Dcu series. Gunn posted a picture of his wife and Peacemaker star Jennifer Holland from behind the scenes of Season 2 and announced that they were currently filming the final two episodes before wrapping production. Gunn also revealed that the episodes have been shot out of order and that Greg Mottola directed episodes two and three before Gunn directed episode one.

It emerged that Rick Flag Jr. would be back for Peacemaker season 2 when director Peter Sollett had tagged him in a wrap post, though it was quickly deleted. Gunn has worked on a second season of the show while juggling the production of Superman, and while everyone is anticipating Gunn’s Man of Steel, he gives an update on when fans can expect the next season of Peacemaker to drop.

With Superman set to come out in July of next year, Gunn has confirmed that Peacemaker 2 will be released in 2025 as well, but after the Man of Steel takes flight. When asked by a fan when the release date would be on Threads (via ComicBookMovie), Gunn confirmed simply, “2025 after Superman.”

Season 2 of the critically acclaimed spinoff to The Suicide Squad was greenlit in February 2022, but development was put on hold after Gunn became co-ceo of DC Studios and began work on the new DC Universe, which will begin with the animated series Creature Commandos later this year. Work on the season resumed after the conclusion of the writers strike, and filming began in March 2024, with Gunn working simultaneously on that project and the upcoming Superman.

In response to a fan's question on Threads, Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker season 2 will be released in 2025, but only after Superman bows in cinemas on July 11. No specific date was revealed. However, this has likely confirmed that the events of Superman will have an impact on the latest season of Peacemaker, which will now fully be integrated into the Dcu.
