Deadline reports that Eric Bana will join Charlize Theron in Apex, a Netflix survival thriller directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Jeremy Robbins.

The project has been described as Free Solo meets The Silence of the Lambs, which sounds like an interesting combination. Theron stars as “a rock climber and adrenaline junkie who finds out that nature isn’t the only dangerous element out to get her when she sets out on an expedition in the wild.” Taron Egerton has also joined the cast as a psychopath who will be stalking Theron’s character. It’s not known who Bana will be playing in the movie.

An adaptation of Nicholas Hogg’s novel Tokyo, Jordan Scott’s sophomore directorial “A Sacrifice” has all the indications of competent filmmaking. The production design is neat and stately, and the pace is quite brisk. However, the very center of the film is caught up in a mesh of major screenwriting issues. Scott, who has also written the adapted screenplay, seems to have been trapped in key, critical areas of the plot, which she entirely dispenses with in a hasty rush of information, intercutting between various perspectives in the climactic stretch.

In fact, his deep dive into Norse mythology was like a fever dream of sex and violence driven by the wild hand-crafted animation from French-based Xilam Animation.

“It was 100 percent like [a fever dream],” Snyder told IndieWire. “The amazing thing about it is the language of 2D adult animation fits so well within the context of Norse mythology, which is a bizarro world anyway. Digging down into it, you’re not going to break it with your own embellishments: We should have a sexy scene here, or we should have some gore here, or we should have some crazy relationships here. You can’t out-Norse it, right? So it was a really fun playground for me because I feel like my natural aesthetic is very close to what it was like reading Norse mythology.

Netflix has shared the official trailer and key art for Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods, which the streaming service describes as “an all-new daring and spectacular animated vision of Norse mythology.”

Consisting of eight episodes, the series will premiere on September 19, 2024.

Netflix released the official trailer for “Twilight of the Gods,“ Zack Snyder’s 2D adult animated series about the clash between Norse gods and mortals (premiering September 19). The mythic tale of vengeance and power unfurls amidst an abundance of choreographic violence and gore.

It’s a tragic love story that begins with badass warrior Sigrid (Sylvia Hoeks) heroically saving the life of mortal king Leif (Stuart Martin) — in slow-mo, of course, with beautiful streaks of blood. The streamer has released a full trailer for the series, which takes Norse mythology as its source material — featuring a vengeful, very much not Marvel-influenced Thor and a still-scheming Loki. The show centers on Sigrid (voiced by Sylvia Hoeks), a fierce warrior who saves King Leif (Stuart Martin) in battle. As reported by Deadline, his next character from an upcoming romantic comedy film won't be as twisted, but he will be spoiled.
