Former Superman actor Henry Cavill will continue to save the world in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular animated series, Voltron, which is now filming, it has been confirmed. Alongside the exciting news that Cavill and the rest of the cast is now all set to go before cameras, we also have our first look at the project in a sneak peek behind the scenes.

A newly revealed image from backstage of the Voltron reboot reveals our first look at the official logo for the Amazon adaptation, with producer Bob Koplar declaring that “Cameras are rolling!” The official logo offers some clues regarding what’s to come with this live-action take, offering up something nostalgic but with a modern twist. Netflix has shared disappointing news for fans of the Voltron franchise. The streaming service's critically acclaimed Voltron: Legendary Defender reboot will be removed from the platform next week.

DreamWorks and Netflix's Voltron: Legendary Defender premiered in 2016 and released 78 episodes over 8 seasons. The final season of the animated series aired on Netflix in December 2018. Earlier this year, it was reported that the Voltron reboot series would be departing from Netflix, with the official Voltron Instagram account responding and saying, "Discussions are ongoing. When we know, you'll know." It appears as if negotiations to keep the show on Netflix fell through, and it remains uncertain where (or even if) fans will have a way to legally stream the series in the future. Voltron: Legendary Defender will be removed from Netflix on Dec. 6.

Variety reports that at the Annecy Animation Festival during the Warner Bros. Animation studio panel, they announced that two new Adventure Time spinoff series and a movie are in the works. The film and one of the spinoffs, Adventure Time: Heyo Bmo, are in development. The other series, Adventure Time: Sidequests, has been greenlit by Cns. Furthermore, they also disclosed the crew who would be working on the film and spinoffs. The team consists of writers and artists with extensive experience with the series. With the success of the shows' previous spinoffs, Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake, Warner Bros. plans to heavily focus on Adventure Time as a franchise.

According to Variety, the feature film, which is currently under development, has yet to reveal its full story details. However, it boasts a strong creative team. Max has renewed “Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake” for a second season.

A spinoff of “Adventure Time,” which ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2018, the series follows Fionna (Madeleine Martin) and her sidekick, Cake (Roz Ryan), who find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful new foe, leaving them with no choice but to seek the help of Simon Petrikov, the former Ice King (Tom Kenny). She revealed that Fionna & Cake is part of the streamer's efforts to keep up with the current high demand for adult animation content. "The Adventure Time fans have grown up and people are still coming in the bottom, and they're aging up," Makkos said. "It felt like a perfect show for us. Tonally, it is very much Adventure Time, but Fiona's older. She's in the workforce. It's more adult, so I think it's going to bring in new fans, and it's also going to serve the fans that we already have.

It doesn't seem like it'll be long until Peacock is right up there with the big dogs such as Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video. Every month, Peacock adds a huge crop of movies on the first, then sprinkles more new releases throughout the following weeks to keep streamers with plenty of new content.

While many of Peacock's television shows are original content for the streaming service, the movies are more likely to be classic favorites. March 2023 in particular leans a lot on the 1990s for fan-favorite movies, like Jurassic Park. Kenny Ortega confirmed there are no immediate plans for Julie and the Phantoms to return to Netflix or anywhere else at this time, but the series executive producer teases, “never say never.”

Created by Dan Cross and David Hoge, the musical dramedy tells the story of a young Latina (Madison Reyes) who leads a band of literal phantoms. The series won three Primetime Emmy Awards for the show’s first and only season.

Netflix has officially canceled the beloved comedy series after just one season.

EP Kenny Ortega broke the sad news on Instagram over the weekend.

“Our ‘Julie and the Phantoms’ family want to send our love and endless thanks to our Fantoms all over the world for the tremendous outpouring of love and support you have shown us since our premier," Ortega wrote.

Netflix has opted not to renew Julie and the Phantoms for a second season. Kenny Ortega, the musical dramedy’s executive producer, choreographer and director, announced the news on Instagram.

“We learned this week that Netflix will not be picking us up for another season,” he wrote next to photos from the set of the show. “Although our hearts are saddened, we move on with such pride for what we accomplished as a team and the family we built while creating Julie.” (See his full post below.)

The cancellation of Julie and the Phantoms, based on the Brazilian children’s seriesJulie e osFantasmas, comes more than a year after its first season was released on Netflix Sept. 10. The U.S. adaptation starred Madison Reyes as Julie, a high schooler who lost her passion for music after her mom died the year before. But when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom’s old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit begin to reawaken and is inspired to start singing and writing songs again. As their friendship with Julie grows, the boys convince her to create a new band together: Julie and the Phantoms.

Booboo Stewart, Cheyenne Jackson, Carlos Ponce, Sonny Bustamante, Jadah Marie, Sacha Carlson and Savannah Lee May rounded out the cast.

Executive producer Kenny Ortega confirmed the long-awaited (and long-dreaded) news via an Instagram post on Saturday.

DreamWorks animation announced that Julia Stiles, Marcus Scribner, Aimee Garcia, Ashley Liao, Lauren Tom, Keston John, Justina Machado and D’Arcy Carden have been cast in “Dragons: The Nine Realms,” which premieres on Hulu and Peacock on Dec. 23.

Director Kenny Ortega knew he had found the lead for Netflix’s “Julie and the Phantoms” when he saw Madison Reyes’ audition tape after casting directors had put out requests to performing arts schools across North America. Reyes, now 16 but aged 14 at the time of her audition, blew away Ortega with her rendition of a song from the musical “Waitress.”

“I was looking for ‘Julie from the block.’ I wanted something a little more raw, and more authentic and relatable,” Ortega tells Variety. “ turned on her video, and I was bedazzled.
